This partnership has continued to flourish ever since.

An annual event for auto design professionals and fans, over the last 30 years the International Motor Show has become the event of the year for the biggest names in the auto and design world. Ever since its inaugural event in Chamonix in 1986, under the leadership of its President, Rémi Depoix, the International Motor Show has steered a clearly defined track: to highlight the artistic dimension of the automobile in order to make this one-of-a-kind show the “fashion week for auto design”.

From Chamonix to the Place Vendôme, from The Ritz to the Grand Palais, the International Motor Show has chosen sites promoting the values of luxury and prestige. It is now, at the heart of the Hôtel National des Invalides – a jewel in French history – that the event comes into its own and continues to carve out its identity.

In 2015, Bell & Ross is proud to extend its partnership at such a symbolic military site, where a large part of France’s military history was written. To celebrate this 30th anniversary, Bell & Ross is launching an unique model of the BR 03, its iconic watch with its immediately recognisable square silhou-ette. Employing the design principles of a dashboard clock, this watch-instru-ment immediately affirms its utilitarian vocation. Its PVD-coated steel case, the dial and rubber strap are jet black. For its part, the bright red second hand adds a subtle sporty touch.

At 6 o’clock, the dial of this 30th anniversary edition features the silhouette of a car – now the emblem of the International Motor Show. Available in a limited edition of only 30 pieces, the “30th anniversary” BR 03 will be launched at the inauguration event held on the evening of 27th January 2015. It will be on sale throughout the event, during which Bell & Ross will also be presenting its latest watch creations.

During the inauguration ceremony, a dozen grand prizes will be awarded by a special jury. A member of the Jury, Carlos A. Rosillo, CEO of Bell & Ross, will present the prestigious Palme d’Or.

DuBois – DBF001-10 Flyback Chronograph Limited Edition

DuBois et fils DBF001-10 Flyback Big Date Chronograph Limited Edition NEW

Luxury watchmaker DuBois et fils revives memories of the golden age of auto racing

Le Locle, 09 January 2015
'The exclusive flyback chronograph DBF001-10, with a limited edition of 33 timepieces, impresses with its striking colour combination, which is a reference to the legendary Gulf racing teams and the golden age of auto racing of the 60s/70s', says Thomas Steinemann, CEO of DuBois et fils.

With the timepiece, the Swiss heritage brand has again succeeded in skilfully combining tradition and innovation and stirring great emotions. The DBF001-10 represents the speed and power of racing and brings back memories of the historic days of auto racing. Black, blue and orange, the undisputed colour trend within watch design over the past years, were harmoniously coordinated in the timepiece. The attractive colour combination makes the DBF001-10 a timeless classic and lends it that certain something that constitutes a very special jewellery piece.

The DBF001-10 is waterproof up to 5 ATM and houses an automatic basic calibre 2892-DD44500 from the Swiss factory ETA SA. Supplemented with the Dubois-Dépraz module calibre 44500, the piece has a twin-disc large date and a chronograph mechanism with flyback function and stop times of up to 12 hours.

The movement has 49 jewels and a power reserve of 44 hours. The surface of the round, multi-piece case (41.5 mm) is comprised of matt brushed stainless steel 316L, which creates a nice contrast to the highly polished notched bezel. Beneath the scratch-proof, double-sided anti-reflective-coated sapphire glass is a black/blue and orange dial with guilloche hour circle. The tri-compax layout contains a small seconds counter as well as a 12-hour and 30-minute chronograph function at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. The shiny frame of the large date display below the noontime, the hand-applied Arabic numerals and the rhodium-plated hour and minute hand are additional noteworthy details of the stylish timepiece.

The dark blue, handcrafted calf leather strap with protective inlays made from rubber and orange stitching elegantly rounds off the striking design.

CORUM – Admiral’s Cup Legend 42 Flying Tourbillon

CORUM Admiral’s Cup Legend 42 Flying Tourbillon NEW

From its founding in 1955, Corum has distinguished itself as the creator of outstanding timepieces shaped by unorthodox ideas. To celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2015 Corum has distilled those founding principles to create a timepiece that reimagines the iconic haute horlogerie complication in a profound yet practical manner.

Designed in the nineteenth century as a mechanism to improve timekeeping, the tourbillon is today the embodiment of Swiss micro-mechanical ingenuity, and arguably the most prestigious complication in watchmaking. But the tourbillon is so precious that it is a treasure only admired on occasion. Corum conceived the Admiral’s Cup Legend 42 Flying Tourbillon to turn conventional wisdom on its head.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                    BIG FOTO

Finely crafted haute horlogerie, yet robust and practical, the Admiral’s Cup Legend 42 Flying Tourbillon was crafted as a masterpiece for the wrist. Put simply, it was designed to be strapped on and enjoyed – every single day.

With a tourbillon carriage mounted on enlarged ceramic ball bearings for resilience, the movement has the bridge and base plate machined from stainless steel, instead of the typical, softer brass. Only with the stiffness and strength of steel were the movement’s designers able to achieve the remarkable visual effect of the tourbillon seemingly floating as it makes one revolution a minute.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                    BIG FOTO

With the base plate and bridge terminating at four and eight o’clock on both sides of the movement, the tourbillon appears to be suspended in mid-air. But it is actually tethered to the movement by the two slender steel arms that are part of the bridge.

Finished with a fine straight graining, the base plate is visible through the smoked sapphire dial with a red gold galvanized Corum logo at nine o’clock. Just above it is the fan-shaped retrograde date display. Centered on a snail shaped cam that controls the retrograde function, the date hand crisply jumps from one day to the next, until it reaches the 31st. Then it jumps straight back to 1, marking the start of a new month.

From the rear, the view through the sapphire display back is equally panoramic. Instead of a conventional full rotor that would impede the view of the tourbillon, the caliber CO 016 is equipped with a micro-rotor decorated with the Corum logo in 18k red gold.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                    BIG FOTO

Just 17 mm in diameter, the micro-rotor has a winding efficiency of two, meaning it can wind the mainspring to its full autonomy of 72 hours – a significant technical achievement since it powers not just the movement but also the rotation of the tourbillon cage.

The beauty of the Admiral’s Cup Legend 42 Flying Tourbillon can also be found in the tiniest details, like the poising screws of the balance wheel, a traditional feature of fine watchmaking used to optimize weight distribution around its rim. Or in the facetted, skeletonized and gilded hour and minute hands. Intricate yet functional, the red gold hands are elegantly legible against the smoked grey sapphire dial.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                    BIG FOTO

But the essential detail that embodies the history of the Admiral’s Cup is the chapter ring with its 12 nautical pennants. Positioned as the hour markers, the pennants are a subtle reminder of the nautical heritage of the Admiral’s Cup.

Echoing the 12 nautical pennants is the 12-sided bezel of the red gold case. With a 42 mm diameter and just 13 mm high, the case is constructed to be elegant yet robust, with a water resistance of 50 m.

Ulysse Nardin – Classico Goat "Year of the Goat"

Ulysse NardinClassico Goat "Year of the Goat" Limited Edition NEW

Evolves its Classico Collection for 2015 with its "Year of the Goat" Timepiece.
The eighth animal sign in the Chinese Zodiac, the goat stands independently, preferring the solace of introspection and observation. A dependable, calm and intelligent creature, the goat shines in creativity. Ulysse Nardin celebrates its individualistic and artistic character with the new Classico Goat timepiece, an enamel champlevé creation.

One of the world's only watchmakers dedicated to this rare, centuries-old art, Ulysse Nardin presents a lifelike depiction of the goat, employing the intricate champlevé method. In this practice, cells are carved with a chisel directly on the watch dial and filled with enamel; the color palette is generated from different metallic oxides. The piece is then fired until the enamel melts. The result is a realistic, picturesque scene that is only made possible by the hands of masters.

For more than 25 years, Ulysse Nardin has been bringing this realism to its dials through the art of enameling. In 2011, it furthered its commitment to this expertise by acquiring the famed Donzé Cadrans, elevating its position as a truly manufacturer of high horology.

A limited edition series, the Classico Goat features the self-winding, COSC-certified UN-815 movement, visible through its sapphire crystal exhibition window located on the case back. It has a power reserve of 42 hours and is water-resistant to 50 meters.

Boasting engineering excellence coupled with the mastery of enamelling, the Classico Goat is a timepiece of reliability and quiet beauty ideal for the free-spirited individual who is content with themselves yet savors the company of others.

HYT – SKULL Limited Edition

HYT –  SKULL Limited Edition NEW

SKULL: Let time look you straight in the eyes !
“Simply taking an existing movement, giving it a vague skull shape and presenting it as an entirely new piece is not really our style.”

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

Vincent Perriard, HYT CEO, gets straight to the point – The Skull, HYT’s new extraordinary and unprecedented creation, breaks all the rules. You don’t need to be an expert to appreciate the power of its design. Even at first glance the Skull makes a striking impression, simply because it epitomises and at the same time breaks away from everything that HYT represents. It is provocative, unique and has a bold design supported by the fluid mechanics that have become the brand’s signature style. The Skull speaks for itself. Its development, however, was anything but obvious.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...          BIG FOTO

Intelligent watch-making

The use of a capillary, which carries a fluid to act as the hour marker, is a concept that is already mastered by HYT and its partners. However, any significant changes in form require extensive background work. For the Skull, the skull shape of the tube, which measures less than one millimetre in diameter, was a significant challenge in itself. The issue centred on the capillary’s four angles, two of which are almost 90° at the base. These curves meant that bending the glass was a particularly delicate task.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...          BIG FOTO

"Their vertical structure, developed for the
H1 watch, served as our starting point. However, we then had to re-examine how to generate enough power to move through these sharp angles, whilst ensuring that the fluid always indicates the correct time, moving at the right speed and with perfect regularity over twelve hours”.

Recapturing the essence of time

In line with the raw, primitive imagery of the skull, HYT also decided to do away with the minutes. This bold choice has two consequences. Firstly, it shifts the main focus to the capillary, the only sensory indicator of time as it passes, and secondly it centres all the attention on the piece’s architectural design, with its assertive, confident skull, which occupies almost the entire surface of the dial. Similarly, in stark contrast to its other pieces, HYT chose to almost completely hide the movement on the dial side.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...          BIG FOTO

To breathe life into the skull, HYT instead introduced a number of new developments. Firstly, the two vertical bellows function continuously – it is their subtle expansion and contraction which causes the fluid to move.
In addition, the eyes of the Skull have a life of their own. The right eye indicates the power reserve of the watch. Using a series of subtly different translucent coloured inserts, the eye gradually darkens as the piece nears the end of its 65 hours of power.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...          BIG FOTO

The left eye hides a barely visible seconds dial which rotates continuously. You only have to look the Skull in the eyes to observe its spirit and the life, in the most literal sense, flowing at its heart. In both cases, a subtle honeycomb pattern provides the background and adds depth to the eyes. The skull itself is not inert - its movement operates constantly. It is alive, in the truest sense of the word: it has a soul. This is the first watch creation in which, instead of observing the time, time watches you.

“We always want to see how far we can go in terms of design and engineering. Our objective was to create a Skull that completely breaks away from everything you normally see, while still embodying the very DNA of HYT – a bold, conceptual, technical, and original design”, Vincent Perriard explains.

The changes don’t stop at the movement, however. A new 51 mm case has been specially created for the Skull, with the addition of new, crisp angled lugs. The single assembly push-button of the crown, which adjusts the time, is located between 2 o'clock and 3 o'clock. The crown protector has been removed. Lateral inserts have also been added to the case, allowing multiple future combinations.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...          BIG FOTO

The Skull is offered in two, very limited versions. One of fifty pieces, produced in DLC titanium with green fluid, and another of twenty-five pieces in 5N rose gold and black DLC titanium, featuring red fluid.

The first pieces will be available from May 2015.
