La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – August 2020:  To celebrate 16 years as the Official Timekeeper of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the 104th Indianapolis 500 race, TAG Heuer has unveiled a special-edition timepiece that honors its long-standing partnership with the premier league of open-wheel racing in North America. Known as one of the oldest automobile races and part of the famous “Triple Crown”, the Indy 500 is a 500-mile race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana and is one of the most-attended single-day sporting events in the world.

Designed in collaboration with the INDYCAR team, the 43 mm Formula 1 Indy 500 2020 Special Edition chronograph represents the luxury watchmaker’s passion for the intensity and spirit of motor racing, with rich, eye-catching red accents including a brick motif on the dial to honor the Indy racetrack’s “The Brickyard” nickname and history.

The Indy 500 logo is displayed on the 6 o’clock subdial with “Indy 500engraved in red on the ceramic bezel. The detailed black dial enhances the daring and sporty aesthetic of this model, and is complete with three azurage-patterned subdials: 3 o'clock permanent second indicator, 6 o'clock hour chronograph counter and 1/10th second chronograph counter embellished with the Indy 500 logo, and a 9 o'clock minute chronograph counter, with a date window at 4 o’clock.

Created in 1987, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection is a stylish extension of the brand’s ties with the thrilling, fast-paced world of racing. Like the sport itself, the timepieces in this renowned collection are daring with bold designs that demand attention and advanced technical features inspired by the extreme performance of motor racing teams. The adrenaline and excitement of the sport have driven TAG Heuer when it comes to the functionality of these statement-making models. Tough enough for the pros and worn by champion drivers, the TAG Heuer Formula 1 timepieces were made for life in the fast lane.

This action-packed timepiece is limited to 1 / 500 units and will be seen on the wrist of TAG Heuer friend and NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver, Alexander Rossi, at this year’s Indy 500 race.

A Dial with Meaning

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway racetrack has been known among fans as “The Brickyard” dating back to the early 20th century. When the race-course first opened in August 1909, the track surface was made of gravel and tar which caused a number of accidents. After many concerns and complaints over safety, the track was subsequently repaved with 3.2 million 10-pound bricks and a final brick laid by the governor of Indiana. Over time, the bricks were paved over with asphalt except for a 1-yard strip of bricks at the start / finish line that remains exposed, but its fabled history as “The Brickyard” endures. Victorious drivers also continue the tradition of kneeling and “kissing the bricks.”.

For this year’s special timepiece, TAG Heuer has the brick motif splashed across the dial to pay homage to the long and storied history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track.

Trailblazing History on the Racetrack

2020 marks the 160th anniversary of TAG Heuer’s avant-garde watchmaking and revolutionary novelties. TAG Heuer continues to innovate new ways of measuring the smallest increments of time with absolute precision, and following Jack Heuer’s footsteps, the watchmaker continues to collaborate with outstanding teams and renowned brands within the racing world today. TAG Heuer’s motto is “Don’t Crack Under Pressure” and the world-renowned brand has prominent partnerships that reflect its passion for action and high performance.

In addition to the IndyCar Series and the Indy 500, TAG Heuer’s motor racing heritage comprises the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Formula One team, the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, the World Endurance Championships, the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup, and legends Steve McQueen and Ayrton Senna.

The history of the brand is marked with trailblazing novelties and noteworthy partnerships, but what has remained the same over the past 160 years is TAG Heuer’s affinity for creating bold, avant-garde timepieces. This was the case over a century ago when Edouard Heuer opened his shop, and it continues today as the watchmaker and its team make use of cutting-edge tools and advanced knowledge to create luxurious timepieces that are built to last a lifetime, and precisely measure all the significant seconds at every turn.

TAG HeuerCARRERA 160 Years MONTREAL Chronograph - Limited Edition 2020

TAG HEUER’S 160TH ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATIONS CONTINUE WITH THE RE-EDITION OF
A HEUER MONTREAL COLLECTOR’S TIMEPIECE

The TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition, a colourful creation that pays homage to the brand’s heritage, blends the 1972 Montreal timepiece with the TAG Heuer Carrera of today.

La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – 25 June 2020: After unveiling the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Dial Limited Edition at the beginning of the year to kick off the luxury watchmaker’s 160th anniversary, the brand is now introducing a second collector’s edition to mark the historic milestone: the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition.

“Montreal” was the name of a collection of luminous and captivating Heuer automatic chronographs launched in 1972. Now, the Montreal design makes a striking comeback in the form of an elegant 39 mm TAG Heuer Carrera that is limited to only 1,000 pieces.

The Heritage Department selected the white Montreal design to mark TAG Heuer’s anniversary year because the piece is pure beauty and the colourful dial is full of joy. We played with the existing design codes and brought them to life in a bold new way, merging them with the Carrera spirit and breaking the rules in true TAG Heuer fashion,”
says Catherine Eberle-Devaux, TAG Heuer Heritage Director.

Combining the heritage of two TAG Heuer greats: the Carrera and the Montreal

The creativity behind this limited-edition anniversary timepiece stems from the idea of fusing the designs and DNA of two iconic TAG Heuer watches. The new TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition is directly inspired by the White Heuer Montreal, reference 110503W, which launched in 1972. Today, it is an exceedingly rare collector’s item.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

For the anniversary model, TAG Heuer borrowed the original, perfectly balanced red, yellow and blue colour palette of the White Heuer Montreal. The bright dial is emblematic of the 1970s, when watch design was transformed by the ability to use coloured luminescent materials; this invention opened-up a fantastic new era of creativity, especially for Heuer.

Ten years earlier, in 1962, then-CEO Jack Heuer heard the story of the legendary Carrera Panamericana, one of the most treacherous road races in the world. The word carrera, which in Spanish can mean road, race, career or course, caught his attention: he knew immediately that this would be the perfect name for a new timepiece.

The first Heuer Carrera chronographs left the factory the following year. As a lover of clean, modern design, Jack Heuer wanted the aesthetics of the Heuer Carrera chronograph to be pure and well-proportioned – features that make the watch perfect for drivers who need to see the time at a glance during adrenaline-pumping races.

These stories and designs all merge on the matte white dial of this special timepiece, which holds three stunning blue “azurage” counters. The chronograph minute counter at 3 o’clock stands out with three curved lines from 1 to 5, 10 to 15, and 20 to 25 that are coloured with yellow Super-LumiNova®. The same yellow Super-LumiNova® is also found on the central minute and hour hands, while the central chronograph seconds hand features a distinctively different bold red lacquer.

The dial is protected by a domed “glassbox” sapphire crystal. The polished stainless-steel timepiece paired with a blue alligator leather strap, reflecting the splash of colour on the dial. The unique limited-edition number of each piece is engraved on the case back, where the innovative Calibre Heuer 02 and its dedicated oscillating mass are visible through the sapphire crystal.

Vintage design with modern technology

The TAG Heuer Carrera line has always featured the most advanced technology that the brand has developed. Possibly the most significant difference between the Heuer Montreal and the modern limited-edition model is the movement within the timepiece. The tribute model is powered by the brand’s Calibre Heuer 02 manufacture movement.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This sophisticated in-house innovation is entirely Swiss-made in TAG Heuer’s Chevenez manufacture. It comprises 168 components, including a column wheel and a vertical clutch – signatures of improved chronograph timekeeping and high-quality manufacture movements – and boasts an impressive power reserve of 80 hours.

TAG Heuer’s Calibre Heuer 02 manufacture movement offers five key benefits:

A power reserve of 80 hours – an increase of 30 hours compared to the Calibre Heuer 01.
A thinner movement, which allows for a thinner case design and improved comfort for the wearer. The thickness is 6.95 mm, compared to the Heuer 01’s 7.30 mm.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The vertical clutch improves the precision of the start-and-stop functions as well as the running of the chronograph second hand, meaning that there is no loss of time when using the chronograph function. There is a column wheel, which provides more accurate and precise functionality – made noticeable by the smooth movement when manipulating the pushers. Precision and greater stability with a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour).

Packaged in a special box that highlights the heritage of this prominent timepiece, the TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition will be available exclusively in TAG Heuer boutiques and online at www.tagheuer.com for select countries in July 2020.

What better way to mark TAG Heuer’s 160th anniversary milestone than with a timepiece that takes the very best of two of the watchmaker’s most illustrious and appealing creations? Using its past to take off into the future, TAG Heuer continues to strengthen its DNA while staying at the cutting edge of innovation and on-trend design.

La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – 18 June 2020: The avant-garde Swiss watchmaker has revealed its second collaboration with the Godfather of Streetwear, Hiroshi Fujiwara, with a one-of-a-kind design equipped with a manufacture movement, the Calibre Heuer 02.

Building on the resounding success of its first creation with the Japanese designer and his Fragment Design label in 2018, the latest collaboration has resulted in a bold yet minimalistic limited-edition novelty – a pure reflection of TAG Heuer’s motor-racing heritage and bold design principles, with high-end finishes, a ceramic bezel and a fiery red sapphire case back.

Introducing a globally influential designer,
musician and watch lover

Fujiwara is a legendary figure who is celebrated in his homeland of Japan and around the world for his unique take on hip-hop streetwear. Beyond his legacy in contemporary fashion, Fujiwara is also known for his impact on mainstream culture, music and covetable design.

Hiroshi Fujiwara is the founder of Fragment Design, a multidisciplinary label created in 2003. He has since collaborated with some of the biggest and most renowned names in fashion, design and art.

Fragment Design makes its mark on
the TAG Heuer chronograph

The latest collaboration between the two brands has created a daring reinterpretation of TAG Heuer’s signature motor-racing-inspired C-case models from the 1960s and 1970s, a case shape also found in TAG Heuer’s present-day collections.

Hiroshi Fujiwara explained: “Redesigning this TAG Heuer chronograph timepiece gave me the opportunity to use an existing legacy to create a new one. I gave the design a modern and exceptional flair with the red case back, which reflects one of the brand’s logo colours and also gives it a completely new and evolved character”.

Franck Touzeau, TAG Heuer Vice President Creation & Product, added: “Hiroshi Fujiwara’s reinterpretation of TAG Heuer’s C-case chronograph is an ideal mix of celebrated legacy and avant-garde design. The TAG Heuer x Fragment Design Heuer 02 chronograph is everything that today’s watch aficionado desires in a timepiece: pure and innovative technology, eye-catching and stylish appearance and remarkable heritage”.

Minimalistic style that focuses on the timepiece’s
most noteworthy essentials

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Echoing his superbly proportioned and minimalistic style, Fujiwara strips the watch’s architecture down to its bare essentials, emphasising the iconic tachymeter scale on the bezel and clearing the dial of all extraneous embellishment. The black opaline dial has two black embossed subcounters at 3 and 9 o’clock.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The black contrasts with white lettering and logos – including “FRAGMENT” between 4 and 5 o’clock – and a simple date window at 6 o’clock. The only counterpoints to the high-contrast composition are the red indexes and the red lacquered central hand, which give the dial an extra pop. The result is a bold and elegantly sparse 44 mm timepiece that is effortlessly easy to read at top speeds.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

On the case back, the two-counter architecture of the in-house Heuer 02 movement is partially obscured and made even more eye-catching thanks to a circular red sapphire crystal window. The automatic column-wheel chronograph movement is a worthy centrepiece; exceptionally precise and boasting an 80-hour power reserve, it demonstrates TAG Heuer’s continued mastery of watchmaking design and engineering. The red sapphire case back features the unmistakable logo of Fragment Design, and each piece is engraved with a unique limited-edition number from 1 to 500.

The Fujiwara design also includes an exclusive new feature: a five-row steel bracelet with a butterfly folding clasp. It is finely polished and brushed to catch the light with every movement of the wrist.

The watch will be available to pre-order from www.tagheuer.com and in select TAG Heuer boutiques before going on sale on July 27th, 2020.

In a numbered run of only 500 pieces, the TAG Heuer x Fragment Design Heuer 02 is a true original grounded in rich history. A testament to Hiroshi Fujiwara’s sense of design and TAG Heuer’s disruptive motor-sport legacy, it is a collector’s timepiece of the first order.

TAG HEUER – AUTAVIA Bronze Calibre 5

TAG HEUERAUTAVIA Bronze Calibre 5 Automatic

BOLD IN BRONZE: TAG HEUER’S AUTAVIA MODELS
REINVENTED FOR A NEW GENERATION OF EXPLORERS

The Autavia in bronze tells a unique story with an ever-changing patina that captures the wearer’s adventures while keeping time with a COSC-certified automatic movement.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – December 2019: Earlier this year, TAG Heuer introduced its legendary Autavia timepiece as a new stand-alone collection that boasts the versatility, ruggedness and reliability that characterised the original Autavia from 1960. Two durable and timeless models in noble bronze with a green or brown colour scheme, powered by the COSC-certified automatic-winding Calibre 5, are now available in stores and online. The Autavia in bronze is an ideal choice for explorers who want their watch to live with them and show off their unique and adventurous lifestyle.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The 42 mm watch features a fumé green or brown dial with a bidirectional rotating ceramic bezel in black or brown, respectively. The brown model is presented on a brown leather strap, while the green model features a khaki-coloured leather strap. A tyre and propeller have been etched into the titanium caseback as a nod to the collection’s rich heritage and the Autavia’s origin: automobile and aviation.

Ready for a life of adventure

Bronze is not only elegant and characteristically timeless, it is also rugged and ready for a lifestyle that includes the great outdoors. The warm appearance of the metal alloy has long been valued by watch fans and collectors. It is anti-magnetic and resistant to normal wear and tear. Bronze is also well known for its maritime heritage – it is not susceptible to saltwater corrosion, making the bronze Autavia models suitable for ocean adventures.

A unique patina

The most distinguishing feature of the bronze TAG Heuer Autavia models is the unique patina that naturally develops on the bronze case, which will be different for every watch depending on the wearer’s habits over time. The brushed finish of the case ensures that the patina develops evenly. When exposed to elements such as water and air or changes in temperature, the bronze surface will undergo a process of oxidation. Starting with a red-brown colour and then turning a blue or greenish colour, this colourisation effect on the metal is completely natural, and the hue depends on the type of bronze and the elements it has been exposed to.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Every oxidation pattern is unique, and the wearer is able to make the watch truly their own. The verdigris tint does not reduce the quality of the material, and the vintage appearance of the case tells the story of the adventures the watch has embarked upon with its wearer. It is also possible to accelerate the oxidation process or reverse it to maintain the original look of the bronze.

Keep customising with easy-to-change straps and bracelets

Suitable for any adventure or any style, the strap or bracelet of every model in the Autavia collection is interchangeable.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The bracelet and strap are easy to switch quickly using simple push buttons on the underside of the case – no tools are necessary. NATO straps, leather straps and stainless-steel bracelets are sold separately, so wearers can create their own combinations to complement their unique look.

The universe of the Autavia captured in a contemporary style

TAG Heuer’s stylish, cockpit-inspired watch features eye-catching elements that are rooted in the history of the line. What fans loved about the original – its functionality, timeless style and numerous combinations – are also evident in these stylish new models. The extra-large crown takes inspiration from pilot’s watches and timers that featured oversized crowns to make them easier to use while wearing gloves. The original Autavia was known for being highly legible in any conditions, and this is also the case with the bronze versions. The hour markers and hour, minute and seconds hands are coated in SuperLuminova®, making it possible to read the time even when the wearer’s adventure leads them into the dark.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The avant-garde Swiss luxury watchmaker’s DNA is clearly visible with these sturdy, reliable and fashionable bronze creations. Displaying the authentic Autavia identity, they combine an enduring material with a lasting heritage strengthened by the journeys of the most adventurous TAG Heuer aficionados.
