Mühle-Glashütte – Teutonia Sport I Chronograph

Mühle-GlashütteTeutonia Sport I Chronograph - 2017

A Need for Speed: the new Teutonia Sport I

Be it roaring down the Nürburgring race track or speeding down the slopes in the Swiss Alps, the new Teutonia Sport I doesn't just thrive on measuring the time it takes to cover a certain distance, but also loves to reveal speed measurements at a glance too.

This special feature of the new sport chronograph from the German town of Glashütte is all thanks to its clever tachymeter function. If the Teutonia Sport I is used to measure the time it takes to travel 1000 metres, the red scale on the flange of the watch enables you to read your speed at a glance.

A quick look at the calendar, however, tells us that the major highlight of the watch year 2017 is drawing even closer: the watch show in Basel, Switzerland, from 23rd to 30th March, which is the world's largest watch and jewellery show.

In Glashütte since 1869: Five Mühle Generations

Mühle and Glashütte – a long story, in the truest sense of the word. For our family has been resident in this region for 700 years. One of our ancestors was even raised to the rank of baron. Thus we have had a family crest since 1629, and above all a family motto which states: “Neither through hope, nor through fear”. This means that we are down-to-earth realists who tackle problems resolutely.

This is also precisely why we did not give up even when our company, which was founded in 1869, was threatened by world wars, socialism and expropriation. So today we can say with pride that the name “Mühle” has stood for precision and precision measuring for five generations already.

Our story started with the manufacture of measuring instruments, and nowadays we develop time measuring instruments. How did this come about? A long story, which is described briefly on the following pages. The inclusion of this story was important to us. After all, it is the foundation of what Mühle stands for today: elementary time measurement.

Press Release – March 2016

Bring on the Complications: the New
Robert Mühle Zeigerdatum

Mühle-Glashütte is now honouring the life and work of its founder with its new Robert Mühle special edition, which also breathes fresh life into a classic complication that is now a rare treasure: the date hand. As you would\ expect from a timepiece made in a genuine manufacturing workshop, the mechanism  was  personally designed by Mühle-Glashütte's  expert watchmakers themselves. This exclusive characteristic is even more enhanced by the fact that this special edition watch is limited to a total of just 100 pieces.

After founding his family company in 1869, Robert Mühle played a significant role in establishing the excellent reputation of the German town of Glashütte as a top watchmaking location thanks to his high-precision measuring instruments. This year, he would have celebrated his 175th birthday. This is reason enough for Mühle-Glashütte to celebrate its namesake by launching a traditionally manufactured classic timepiece that reflects the values practised by Robert Mühle in the most stunning way possible. The new Robert Mühle Zeigerdatum not only boasts the combination of maximum precision and excellent readability that characterises every Mühle watch, but also stands out due to not one, but two additional functions in its mechanical movement, the so-called "complication". These functions are clear for all to see thanks to the watch's large transparent case back.

The "RMK 03" movement, which was designed by the manufacturer's very own watchmakers, forms the heart of the timepiece and is based on the Robert Mühle RMK 01 calibre with an up/down display that has already been given a new design. In the RMK 03, it welcomes an additional complication in the form of the date hand, which is located in the second third of the module plate.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                         FOTO

With the small-second display at the 6 o'clock position acting as the perfect finishing touch, the movement contains an impressive tally of 180 components with a total of 33 jewels and therefore features nearly 35 more components than the RMK 01. In keeping with the spirit of Glashütte's classic watchmaking tradition, the new movement is additionally adorned with screwed gold chatons and a finely engraved balance cock.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                         FOTO

When it comes to its fine regulation and cover plate, the calibre is yet again a prime example of outstanding craftsmanship because, as is only right for a top-quality Mühle watch, it contains the company's patented woodpecker neck regulation, which is particularly shockproof. In addition, the cover plate was designed as a three-fifth plate with a separate balance cock for the escape wheel.

This time measuring instrument is not only beautifully engineered on the inside, but also stunning on the outside. With their clear silver accents, its three totalisators shine out elegantly against the anthracite-coloured background of its face, while the hour numerals and indices, which are painstakingly applied manually, perfectly complement the watch's polished stainless steel hands. To top it off, the watch's 44-millimetre-wide case made of brushed and polished stainless steel and its crocodile leather strap with a stainless steel folding clasp provide a suitably glorious setting for the Zeigerdatum's exclusive complication. After first being used in a pocket watch back in 1793, this complication became somewhat of a thing of the past after the introduction of the date window. To put it simply, this complication is the ideal historic treasure for a timepiece like the R. Mühle & Sohn special edition, which above all represents a precise time measuring instrument that will take pride of place on every wrist.

Mühle-Glashütte - Seebataillon GMT

Mühle-Glashütte - Seebataillon GMT 2013

New for BASELWORLD 2013

A timepiece for every mission: The Seebataillon GMT

The timepiece chosen for an elite unit of the German Navy must fulfill extraordinary requirements. This is why in cooperation with the soldiers of the upcoming “Seebataillon” (Marine Battalion), an extremely robust watch with a second time zone has been developed that both in design and functionality is well-equipped for every mission to be undertaken by this new unit of the German Navy – whether on land, see or in the air. And it’s also why this new watch bears their name: The Seebataillon GMT.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

The Seebataillon of the German Navy protects the various naval units, their institutions and their assets on land, around ports and on the high seas. Because time and timekeeping are decisive factors in planning and carrying out many missions, these soldiers were looking for a watch tailored specifically to their operational requirements. The members of the soon to be formed Seebataillon were already familiar with the S.A.R. Flieger-Chronograph, which is used by naval rescue pilots and so approached Mühle-Glashütte with a proposal: to jointly develop a timepiece that was solid and shockproof enough for any mission, guaranteeing exact time and readability day and night, and combining the best properties of wearing comfort and optimum functionality.

It’s not surprising that Mühle-Glashütte was their first choice for fulfilling their fundamental requirements for reliability and durability of use: The Seebataillon GMT has a six-position regulated Mühle movement and our own in-house developed rotor, patented woodpecker neck regulation (including fitting balance cock), and a 42-hour power reserve. Of particular importance for this operational service watch is the Mühle fine adjustment, which ensures the watch movement is just as precisely adjustable as it is shockproof. In addition, the self-winding automatic mechanism is an ideal choice for the various deployment zones and operational conditions in which the Seebataillon will be serving: because it operates without a battery, it will never let the wearer down due to diminishing battery life.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

Also, the second time zone display is important for operations abroad. The second zone hand is split so the minute indicators are not obscured and the readability of the wearer's local time zone is not impaired. The gold numbers on the dark, recessed, 24-hour scale of the local time zone are positioned for easy readability, with the numbers changing direction at the 6:00 and 18:00 o'clock positions so that the time can always be accurately read – even at a glance. When you're on a mission, being able to quickly read the exact time is of particular strategic importance. This is why when we designed the dial for the Seebataillon GMT particular emphasis was placed on making readability intuitive. The dial is equipped with double indices at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions and has a divided triangle indicator at the 12 o'clock position. This design ensures the best possible distribution of luminous coating while at the same time ensuring the hands are clearly visible down to the exact minute.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

The rotating countdown bezel is also designed for operational conditions: large, 5-minute intervals are provided for maximum clarity with the last 15 minutes divided into a minute scale, so that the time remaining before arrival at the wearer's destination or other important operational events can be read exactly.
This timepiece has to be able to take a lot of punishment while still providing complete freedom of movement for the wrist and the greatest degree of wearing comfort. A titanium construction combined with proven Mühle features such as a screw-in crown at the 4 o'clock position ensures these objectives are achieved. The titanium housing of the Seebataillon GMT is particularly hardwearing and despite its size is surprisingly lightweight. These features ensure a high degree of wearing comfort and extreme robustness – regardless of the elements. Thanks to its pressure resistance of up to 30 bar, this timepiece is also suitable for missions under water. With all these features, this watch is a perfect addition to the impressive equipment of this elite naval unit.

The Seebataillon GMT, however, is designed not just to functionally and materially satisfy all the operational requirements of this group. Its dark blue dial and gold GMT display evoke the colors of the soldiers' berets and thus firmly establishes a connection with the Marine Battalion itself. The new Seebataillon GMT by Mühle-Glashütte bridges the gap between a military special operations watch and a sporty timepiece, suitable for both field use and for the parade uniform of the members of the Marine Battalion – truly making it a watch for every mission.

Active Lifestyle Watch 2012: S.A.R. Flieger Chronograph begeistert internationale Jury

Vom 22. November bis 1. Dezember 2012 fand in Kuala Lumpur zum sechsten Mal „A Journey Through Time“ statt. 120 führende Hersteller von edlem Schmuck und luxuriösen Zeitmessern nahmen in diesem Jahr an der 10-tägigen Ausstellung teil, die sich zu einer der größten Schmuck- und Uhren-Shows in Asien entwickelt hat.

Ihren krönenden Abschluss findet die Veranstaltung jedes Jahr in den „Starhill Gallery Watch of the Year Awards“. Die Starhill Gallery ist Kuala Lumpurs exklusives Zentrum für Schmuck, Mode, Kunst und Lifestyle. Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung findet sich hier eine internationale Jury aus anerkannten Uhrenexperten zusammen und wählt die faszinierendsten Zeitmesser des Jahres in sieben Kategorien.

Der S.A.R.

The rescue pilots from the German Navy were looking for a chronograph which would enable calculation of flight speeds, and at the same time be able to withstand the harshest of operating conditions. As a result, the S.A.R. Flieger-Chronograph (S.A.R pilots' chronograph) was born.

For easy differentiation between the time displays, the chronograph functions are marked in orange. This typical SAR signal color is also used to highlight the important 10-second scale, which facilitates short-time measurements to extrapolate speeds.

We have positioned the crown and pusher on the left, where they do not restrict the free movement of the wearer's hand. This also enabled us to place the start pusher at 8 o'clock, where it is much easier to operate with the thumb.

Muhle-Glashutte - Marinus Chronograph

Muhle-Glashutte - Marinus Chronograph Special Edition NEW

Basel 2012

Special Edition Fulda Challenge of 250 Pieces

Mühle-Glashütte is currently taking a particularly sporty approach: The family company from the German town of Glashütte will be presenting not one, but three new chronograph watches at the Baselworld 2012 watch and jewellery show. The Terranaut I Trail and Terrasport I Chronograph are new additions to the company’s range of “Sporty Instrument Watches” and the Marinus Chronograph was developed as a limited special edition for an Arctic decathlon, the Fulda Challenge.

Mühle-Glashütte announce the new MARINUS Chronograph SE Fulda Challenge. It features a solid stainless steel case, which has been coated with DLC, fitted with a sapphire crystal and has a water-resistance of 30ATM. A tough and hardy dive watch - that has qualified for the 2012 Fulda Challenge of which Mühle-Glashütte were the official timekeeper. The watch was exposed to extreme elements and temperatures as low as -40⁰C as it made its way across 1,500 kilometers of Canada's Yukon territory.

Mühle-Glashütte The Marinus Chronograph is distinctive and unscathed as it emerges from the water. But the watch is no longer satisfied with tackling just one element. Whether surfing, snowboarding, sailing or snowshoeing: this outdoor timepiece from Mühle-Glashütte also stands up to the challenges of snow and ice. The Marinus Chronograph has qualified for the Fulda Challenge 2012 thanks to its striking character and is now being launched as a special limited edition.

The strengths of the Marinus Chronograph are evident at a glance: its solid stainless steel case with a black highly resistant DLC coating (diamond like carbon) and 44 mm diameter can live up to any challenge. With its domed 2.5 mm thick sapphire crystal and a resistance to test pressures of 30 ATM, the Marinus Chronograph stands up to external influences such as temperature fluctuations, salt water and changes in pressure. These are all valued properties in the extreme conditions of the Fulda Challenge.

This Arctic decathlon takes place every year in the Yukon Territory in Canada. Athletes battle against the cold along the 1,500 km route as well as tackling the challenges of the individual disciplines which include dog sledding, skijoring and a half marathon at -40⁰C. Mühle-Glashütte took part in the extreme event for the first time this year as the official timekeeper. To mark this commitment, a limited edition series of 250 Marinus Chronograph models was released.

The fact that you can tell the time with the Marinus Chronograph in virtually any conditions is all thanks to the Mühle chronograph movement MU 9408. The patented woodpecker neck regulation guarantees accuracy even under the harshest of conditions.

A 48-hour power reserve, stop-seconds mechanism and fast date corrector complete the technical features of this watch.

The non-reflective sapphire crystal offers an unrestricted view of the black watch face at all times; the white numerals and two totalizers stand out clearly from the background. The uncluttered design means that the small seconds display and minutes counter can be viewed at a glance. The one-sided rotating bezel with its red ceramic insert stands out easily against the otherwise black design of the watch. Thanks to the hands, numerals and indices coated with Super-LumiNova, the watch offers optimal legibility even in dark conditions or under water. The light spot at the zero point on the bezel enhances this further.

Equipped with all of these properties, the Marinus Chronograph can stand up to any challenge, regardless of conditions. This timepiece is the optimal partner for extreme athletes and outdoor enthusiasts who live their lives at the limit.
