Glashutte Original – LADIY PanoMatic Luna Edition

Glashutte Original –  LADIY PanoMatic Luna Steel Limited Edition

A declaration of love in lilac
The new PanoMatic Luna has ladies‘ hearts
beating faster on Valentine’s Day

On the day of love, the most beautiful feeling in the world takes precedence. Romance and hope lie in the air, hours and minutes fly by and moments are as light as a feather. This feeling of awakening love is reflected in the new PanoMatic Luna from Glashütte Original.

The dial of the new ladies‘ watch is presented softly and playfully, with diamond-set rod indexes and lilac Arabic numerals forming a heart at the centre. The PanoMatic Luna is limited to 25 pieces and adds another feminine masterpiece to the Lady Collection.

Romantic elements

The dial of the new PanoMatic Luna combines classic and romantic elements in an elegant ensemble. The hand-crafted mother-of-pearl dial catches the eye immediately, especially the Arabic numerals in different sizes, drawn in a delicate shade of lilac as radiant forms reaching to the edge of the dial. To this end the dial was printed from the back, so that the colour shines through softly and the mother-of-pearl shimmers evenly throughout. At the centre the numerals form a heart, itself framed by nine rod indexes with 18 brilliant-cut diamonds. The dial, made in the watchmaker’s own dial manufactory in Pforzheim, is fashioned from the inner layer of sea shells. To protect the razor-thin material from breakage it is mounted on a thin disc of German silver.

The moon phase display owes its striking appearance to its elaborately crafted moon disc, which is also made in Pforzheim. The two silver-coloured moons are first cut out with a milling tool. The surface of the moons is then polished with a diamond milling tool, which gives them a unique brilliance. The special feature of this display, perceptible only upon closer inspection, are the little hearts in the night sky, which playfully take up the symbol of love.

In line with classic Pano style, the hour, minute and small second are positioned off-centre in the left half of the dial, while the moon phase at 2 o’clock and the characteristic Glashütte Original Panorama Date at 4 o’clock adorn the right side. The Arabic numerals too, take up the asymmetric design of the dial and are thus arrayed in different sizes.

Sparkling accents

The bezel forms a glamorous frame for the stainless steel case and captures everyone’s attention with 64 brilliant-cut diamonds. A matching purple strap in alligator leather takes up the coloured accents from the dial. With its delicate and playful elements this limited-edition PanoMatic Luna represents an elegant and romantic addition to the successful product line. Whether sparkling and set with rubies or radiant in delicate blue mother-of-pearl – all models in the line prove convincing thanks to stylistic elements at once classic and feminine.

Refined ornaments of the heart  The sapphire crystal case back offers a clear view of the manufactory Calibre 90-12 with its highly refined decorative finishes.  The duplex swan-neck fine adjustment from Glashütte Original, a signature feature of the brand, along with numerous other traditional elements of Glashütte watchmaking such as the three-quarter plate, blued screws and the characteristic Glashütte decorative finishes, offer further proof of the origin of the watch. The movement has an oscillation frequency of 4 Hz and features a power reserve of 42 hours.

Glashutte Original – VINTAGE Sixties Annual Edition 2020

Glashutte OriginalVINTAGE Sixties Annual Edition 2020

Cool classic in glacier blue

Glashütte Original presents Sixties and Sixties Chronograph as annual edition 2020

Since 2018 the exceptional Sixties annual editions have been the source of great excitement in the world of watches.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Following the extravagance of previous years, the 2020 annual edition turns to sublime elegance: cool glacier blue lends the new Sixties a profound but no less impressive appearance. Simultaneously with this model the German watchmaker introduces a new Sixties Chronograph in the same colour, presented for the first time in an annual edition.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Setting eyes on alpine scenery and majestic glaciers, it is difficult to resist their charms. They have an incomparable aura of clarity, peace and strength and take on some of the most beautiful colours that nature has to offer.

Glashütte Original’s watchmakers pay tribute to these moods with the elegant glacier blue of the new annual edition – and present two models that interpret the characteristic Sixties design in a discreet, yet powerful new way.

The cool look of the Sixties line, a classic from the Saxon watchmaker, underscores its versatile nature.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The signature features of its 1960s design – the domed sapphire crystals, curved hands and characteristic Arabic numerals – reveal a charm of their own. Following silver, black, dark blue, green and orange, they are set off now by an glacier blue ground.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This goes for the Sixties Chronograph as well, which appears with a new colour now, too.

Elegant appearance with unique dial

The cool shimmer of the dials is the work of experts in Glashütte Original’s in-house dial manufactory in Pforzheim, Germany. There the dial blanks are first given a delicate sunray finish before being pressed into their characteristic domed shape and given a galvanic nickel coating. To achieve the striking dégradé effect they are then sprayed with dark blue lacquer, which first gives them a dark edge. Then the entire surface of the dial is given a coat of glacier blue lacquer. This elaborate hand-crafting results in the individual colour gradient that renders each dial unique.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

In a final step the dials are heated in an oven to burn in the colours. The incised indexes, printed numerals and Super-LumiNova highlights on each hour marker complete work of art.

Manufactory movement

The new Sixties is powered by the Calibre 39-52 automatic movement, developed in-house, while the new Sixties Chronograph features the manufactory’s Calibre 39-34. Both models have a 40-hour power reserve. The three-hand model is presented in a 39 mm diameter polished stainless steel case, while the chronograph appears in a 42 mm stainless steel case. The Sixties Chronograph is equipped with a central stop-second along with two inset auxiliary dials for the small second and 30-minute counter. The domed sapphire crystal case back on both models offers a clear view of each watch‘s finely finished movement with three-quarter plate, swan-neck fine adjustment, Glashütte stripe finish and skeletonised rotor with 21-carat oscillating mass.

Rounding off the elegant appearance of the new Sixties and Sixties Chronograph are brown-grey nubuck calfskin straps with lightly contrasting stitching and pin buckle. Both models in this annual edition are available for a limited time only from Glashütte Original Boutiques and selected authorised dealers worldwide.

Glashutte Original – SENATOR Chronometer Tourbillon Platinum Edition

Glashutte Original SENATOR Chronometer Tourbillon Platinum 42mm - Limited Edition

Premiere of a world first

In the small Saxon town of Glashütte, elegance and mechanics have long been combined in elaborately finished timepieces. In 1920, the master watchmaker Alfred Helwig gave the tourbillon, one of the most challenging complications of haute horlogerie, the appearance of weightlessness by anchoring the mechanism on one side only.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Today Glashütte Original presents Alfred Helwig’s invention in an advanced and highly sophisticated version. The Saxon manufactory has succeeded for the first time in combining a flying tourbillon with a second-stop mechanism, zero reset and minute detent, allowing the time to be set with great precision. This world first edition in platinum is limited to 25 pieces and officially certified as a chronometer.

The Tourbillon: traditionally in motion

As fascinating as it is to observe the turning of a tourbillon cage, it was originally intended to enhance the precision of a watch. Whether cantilevered (“flying”) or anchored with a bridge in the classical manner: this “whirlwind” turns, together with the entire oscillation and escapement system, on its own axis. In the past, this made it possible to counter the impact of gravity on the rate performance of pocket watches. With modern wristwatches, the tourbillon serves above all to demonstrate the maker’s exceptional horological expertise, which connoisseurs around the world are certain to appreciate.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Glashütte Original shows that a tourbillon can still serve its original purpose. Second-stop mechanism, zero reset and minute detent ensure that the minute and second hands are synchronised, allowing the time to be set with great precision: the tourbillon’s rotating cage stops the moment the crown is pulled, and since the second hand is mounted on the cage, it also stops immediately.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The watchmakers of the manufactory welcomed the challenge to find a way to stop the flying tourbillon “in full flight” and to combine it with the ability to set the time precisely. Their solution is as well engineered as it is innovative. Glashütte Original has applied for two patents on the complex construction.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

To set the time the crown is pulled out. This triggers a vertical clutch that locks the tourbillon cage, and with that the balance, in its current position. If the crown is then pulled out further and held in position, the second hand advances clockwise to zero, and the minute hand advances to the next full index. In the process, a rotational damper ensures a smooth movement.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Now the crown can be released and – while the small second remains at zero – the time can be set precisely to the minute while the crown is still pulled out. At the desired point in time the crown is pressed back again, which releases the seconds hand, thus ensuring that minutes and seconds are synchronised perfectly. This version has also been fitted, for the first time, with shock protection on both sides of the flying tourbillon.

The manual winding Calibre 58-05
Chronometric precision in elegant attire

The high rate precision of the Senator Chronometer Tourbillon – Limited Edition has been confirmed by an independent testing institute. Each watch is certified as a chronometer, in conformance with the DIN 8319 standard, by the German Calibration Service in Glashütte.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The watch undergoes 15 days of testing in five different positions and at three different temperatures. In addition, a silicon balance spring offers greater protection against magnetic fields and changes in temperature. The manual winding calibre 58-05, which beats at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour, has a power reserve of 70 hours when fully wound, indicated by the display at 9 o’clock.

The design: multi-layered and transparent

The 42 mm platinum case presents a movement with highly refined decorative finishes. Beneath the off-centre, galvanic blue dial, fascinating views emerge from the combination of different levels and finishes. The dial and Flying Tourbillon rise like little towers over the upper and lower halves of the movement, resulting in a remarkable three-dimensional effect. The open design and a partially transparent sapphire crystal ring bearing the seconds scale draw the viewer’s gaze into the depths of the watch. Various hand engravings and the classic Glashütte stripe finish round off the decoration.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

In addition, a particularly sophisticated detail is positioned discreetly on the upper edge of the dial. The mirrored upper ring displays, at 12 o’clock, the inscription “Chronometer Tourbillon”, engraved back-to-front on the dial fastener.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Also the back of the watch features fascinating, elaborate traditional finishes. A dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap with a fold fastener in platinum completes this model.

Glashutte Original – Magic of Winter

Glashütte Original – Magic of Winter

Winter Dreams
Glashütte Original reveals the magic of winter

When nature sinks into snow-white silence, winter has arrived. And in this thoughtful time of year it comes to us again, that incomparable yearning for places that enchant us. For people who warm our hearts. And for moments that make us happy.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Two exceptional timepieces from Glashütte Original participate in the magic of this cold time of year. With cool elegance and the rich traditions of the German art of watchmaking, the Senator Cosmopolite, in shining stainless steel, and the sparkling PanoMatic Luna cast a spell on their admirers.
Multi-facetted and borderless:
the Senator Cosmopolite

As richly facetted as an ice crystal, the Senator Cosmopolite proves the perfect companion  for every journey. The timepiece represents uncompromising precision, whether leading its wearer home to a crackling fire, or to sun-splashed lands far away. Its sophisticated mechanics display the time of day in two time zones at once – taking Standard and Daylight Saving Time into account – in any of the world time zones currently in use. At its heart is the manufactory’s 89-02 automatic movement, a 4-Hz masterpiece assembled by hand from more than 400 individual components, with an off-centre rotor and a 72-hour power reserve.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This year’s new stainless steel model with dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap is the latest version to join the ▶️ Senator Cosmopolite line, which debuted in 2015. Executed in the characteristic style of Glashütte Original, the clear design is reduced to its most essential elements. The dial design and layout of the displays make it a pleasure to check the time, even when it’s icy cold outside.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Wintry colours – dark blue and white with detail accents in black – determine the overall look of the watch. An auxiliary dial framed in silver at 12 o’clock presents the home time and integrated power reserve. The characteristic Glashütte Original Panorama Date is at 4 o’clock, while two narrow windows at 8 o’clock are set harmoniously within the curve of the dial.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

They use IATA international airport codes in three colours to indicate the traveller’s destination. The 24 time zones that deviate from GMT by a full hour are each represented by an IATA code in black; an additional 8 with half-hour deviations present codes in blue, and the remaining three, each with a three-quarter hour offset from GMT, show an IATA code in red. Positioned at 9 o’clock is the newly designed day/night display with a small sun and stylised starry night sky.

Like an ice-covered lake in the winter sun:
the sparkling PanoMatic Luna

Heavenly details are also the source of the PanoMatic Luna’s fascination. Its refined mother-of-pearl dial recalls a frozen lake mirroring the clear winter sky. The beguiling, shimmering face of the watch is the product of elaborate hand-crafting in Glashütte Original’s own inhouse dial manufactory in Pforzheim, Germany.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The Panorama Date at 4 o’clock and the intriguing moon phase at 2 o’clock, in which a diamond-cut silvery moon and stars shine from the night sky, also reveal the hand of the artist. The big date, although a characteristic feature of Glashütte Original, remains a rarity in a mechanical ladies’ watch.

83 diamonds totalling 1.09 carats lend the PanoMatic Luna the brilliance of ice crystals in the winter sun. Precisely 64 white brillant-cut diamonds adorn the finely polished, 39.4-mm stainless steel case.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

An additional 18 brillant-cut diamonds on the dial’s rod indexes take up this brilliance in an elegant fashion. The glittering ensemble is topped off by a large, 3 mm brilliant-cut diamond on t e winding crown.

A light blue Louisiana alligator leather strap with pin buckle echoes the heavenly blue of the dial and rounds off the timepiece, which features the manufactory’s 90-12 automatic movement, with subtle grace.

Glashutte Original – SENATOR Cosmopolite Steel

Glashütte OriginalSENATOR Cosmopolite Steel 44mm

Baselworld 2018
Minimalist World Traveler

This timepiece is at home all over the world: thanks to its sophisticated time zone mechanism, since its premiere in 2015 the watch has provided genuinely borderless precision.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO
In 2018 Glashütte Original presents the sequel to this success story; the new Senator Cosmopolite debuts in stainless steel and with a minimalistic design. It is the ideal companion for all who travel frequently or maintain international contacts – and of course for all friends of the renowned German art of watchmaking.

Design: reduced to the essential

The origin of this mechanical masterpiece is unmistakable: the latest interpretation of the “Cosmopolitan” is executed in the characteristically clear style of Glashütte Original, and is presented here with a particularly contemporary look and feel. Dark blue and white form the predominant impression, with black detail providing visual accents. The clear design also makes reading the individual displays a pleasure.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The 44-mm stainless steel case features both satin-brushed and brilliantly polished surfaces. Dark blue printed Arabic minute numerals and blue appliques are set off against the matte white lacquered dial. A small second at 6 o'clock and the Panorama Date at 4 o'clock complement blued central minute and hour hands. The separate home time display at 12 o'clock is combined with an exceptionally helpful day/night indicator and a power reserve indicator. The two auxiliary dials are circumscribed by a slim, brilliant silver ring.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

At 8 o'clock two narrow display windows fit snugly into the curve of the dial and present the destination as an IATA international airport code in one of three colours, and separate displays for Daylight Saving and Standard Time.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Positioned at 9 o'clock is the newly designed day/night indicator with a small sun and stylised night sky. The elegant appearance of this timepiece is enhanced and completed by a dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap with pin buckle or fold-over clasp.

The Complication: All the time in the world

The displays of the Senator Cosmopolite have been designed for easy legibility, but the mechanism behind them is complex. In developing it, the Glashütte engineers have enriched the product line with a complication as ambitious as it is contemporary – while placing particular emphasis on ease of use.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

With the Senator Cosmopolite one can set the time in two time zones at once, without the wearer having to think twice about it. A time zone ring offers a selection of the 36 world time zones currently in use. Each of them is displayed using an official IATA location code representing an international airport in the relevant time zone.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Not all time zones are offset from the Greenwich Mean Time reference time in intervals of one hour: for this reason, the 24 time zones that do show a full-hour deviation are indicated using a black IATA code; a further nine time zones with half-hour offsets are shown in blue, and the remaining three IATA codes appear in red.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The two windows at 8 o'clock allow the wearer to set summer and standard time (Daylight Saving Time – DST / Standard Time – STD); an easily read Day/Night indicator for both home and destination offers additional orientation. Any necessary adjustments of the date while traveling forwards or back in time are handled by the movement's intricate mechanics.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Setting the displays could not be simpler: the home time can be set using a crown at 2 o'clock, and the current time zone is selected using the crown at 8 o'clock. When traveling east (forward in time), one turns the crown at 4 o'clock clockwise until the IATA code for the destination time zone appears in the corresponding DST or STD window. When traveling west (back in time) one turns the crown counter-clockwise. In both cases the central hour and minute hands shift forwards or back in 15-minute steps, so that the IATA code for the destination time zone can be seen in the DST or STD window.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

At this point the traveller needs to make no further changes: the central hour and minute hands indicate the correct time at the destination, enhanced by the correct day/night indication at 9 o'clock – and by the correct date at the destination. If, when setting the destination time, one advances past midnight, the Panorama Date shows the corresponding change of date, backwards or forwards as the case may be.

The Movement: Path breaking technology – Made in Glashütte

The intelligent mechanics are hidden within the 4 Hertz manufactory Calibre 89-02, provided with energy by an off-centre rotor. Its power reserve is a minimum of 72 hours.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The regulator-free regulating system with swan-neck spring can be adjusted using the four tiny screws on the balance wheel, which ensures a high degree of rate precision.

The finely finished surfaces and numerous details of the automatic movement with its typical Glashütte three-quarter plate can be observed through the anti-reflective sapphire crystal case back.
