The New Retro is elegantly and soberly paired with this ‘form’ movement specifically developed to equip its rectangular case. The in-line calibre is naturally skeletonised so as to reveal the exquisite delicacy of its finishing.

This sophisticated mechanism can be admired through the openworking, held by stylised anthracite rhodium-plated bridges with a structure subtly reminiscent of the radiator grilles on vintage cars. From the circular satin-brushed gear train to the sunburst ratchet wheel and the sandblasted mainplate and bridges, ultimate refinement is visible in each and every detail. The New Retro Power Reserve reveals its 48-hour power-reserve gauge at 12 o’clock. Available in pink or white gold versions fitted with an alligator leather strap, it will keep both wearers and observers mesmerised by every detail of its fascinating movement.

Fawaz Gruosi naturally entrusted his first ever jewellery collection with the name of his daughter. Twenty-five years after the creation of de GRISOGONO, the ALLEGRA jewellery design continues to evolve under the aesthete’s eye of its creator. An icon of its era, an icon in step with the times.

ALLEGRA 25 JEWELLERY TIMEPIECE

Forming an infinite circle, a woven gold ribbon graced with delicately interlacing circles elegantly create a seamlessly flowing visual effect providing tantalising glimmers of light through tiny gaps. A subtle play on volume, contrast and perspectives reveals 29 polished or diamond-set rings entwined around the dial at 3 and 9 o’clock. The daring offset mother-of-pearl or diamond-pavé dial is the shimmering face of a 41.7mm jewellery timepiece combining the radiance of gold with the magnetic appeal exuded by 4.30 carats of alternately snow-set and bezel-set gems. NEW RETRO N04

De GRISOGONO coat of arms appears in shades of gold. An easily readable dial, adorned with a round counter and Arabic numerals in a new font developed by de GRISOGONO. Cut-outs at 3 and 9 o’clock create a transparent effect and the impression that both the dial and the movement are suspended in a glass cage. The two curved sapphire crystals are identical and subtly connected by a thin gold band. This was a veritable construction challenge overcome by de GRISOGONO. Meticulously crafted right the way down to the finest details, this watch representing the ultimate in elegant timepieces is infinitely soft to the touch and radiates an extremely sensual smooth appearance.

Patina of time

Meanwhile, the colour palette expresses classical dress sense through an off-white dial with creamy undertones and a deep house-signature black tone. The most iconic version features an original and daring colour scheme in the form of subtly graded shades of green that convey the impression of a dial that has survived the passage of time. This unique hue strikes a powerful contrast with the Super-LumiNova® markers featuring rich colour combinations that infuse the blue with a shimmering iridescence.

NEW RETRO N03

These nuances are strongly reminiscent of Zellige, the famous enamel-covered terra cotta mosaic-patterned tilework from the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions so dear to the creator of this watch. The result is a vintage-effect dial evoking the inimitable patina of time and giving the piece its strong, uncontrived character. In order to achieve the accuracy of colour and the depth of nuance sought by its designer, the dial features a matt, sand-blasted finish. Its retro look is accentuated by the fact that it is reminiscent of the dials on old alarm clocks – made of light-coloured wallpaper with contrasting hour-markers that are extremely pronounced and readable – discoloured by time. A dial which also bears the chiaroscuro effect that is cherished by de GRISOGONO.

NEW RETRO N02

Powered by a black PVD-coated mechanical self-winding movement, the NEW RETRO displays a highly elegant gold, openworked oscillating weight reprising de GRISOGONO’s emblematic scrolling motif. Its impeccable style continues right down to the shape of its movement, whose mainplate has been incorporated into a base that is an identical reproduction of the shape of the watch. The NEW RETRO’s large, elegant strap made of large square-scale alligator leather features a saddle-stitch finish.
The refined aura of the NEW RETRO imbues it with a strong feeling of kinship with the Fifties look, the ultimate expression of sartorial elegance and a style akin to that of the modern-day dandy.
