For our previous calendar model, I selected a salmon pink dial, though a saxe blue dial was also under strong consideration at the time." ~ Hajime Asaoka

“I was very fond of both colors, but as the watch was created as a special anniversary edition, I ultimately decided to release only the salmon pink. Still, I could never quite get the saxe blue out of my mind. So, purely as a personal passion project, I decided to revisit the idea." ~ Hajime Asaoka

The most notable change from the original proposal is the use of applied Arabic indices. Initially, I had envisioned them in black, as on the salmon pink dial. But it struck me that the contrast between the soft saxe blue and the gleam of metallic chrome would give the dial a particularly beautiful character, which led me to choose applied indices instead. Applied indices are typically produced through stamping, a process that can make very fine and delicate forms difficult to achieve. For this model, however, we used a technique called electroforming. This allowed us to create the intricate shapes I had envisioned and translate the design into reality without compromise." ~ Hajime Asaoka

“As always, the exact shade of saxe blue was selected after producing countless physical samples. As it turned out, the color came very close to 2025’s “Shiraai”. But where Shiraai featured a near-matte finish at around 20% gloss, I favored a 70% gloss finish for this saxe blue dial. This choice was dictated by the visual interplay with the radiant indices."

AThis specific level of gloss adds richness and depth to the soft blue hue, giving it a completely different personality from Shiraai."

The Kurono Calendrier SBR features a triple-calendar complication that shows the day, date and month; apart from the time. Like many other triple calendar watches, we would advise some care when setting the watch *Refrain from changing the month when the windowed date display is showing the 31st.
