HAUTLENCE – Atelier HLRS 01 Honeycomb

HAUTLENCE ATELIER HLRS 01 Honeycomb NEW

HAUTLENCE LAUNCHES DISTINCTIVE NEW HONEYCOMB MODEL IN ITS HLRS COLLECTION

HAUTLENCE is enriching its ultra-contemporary HLRS range with a new model featuring a sleek black dial embodying its signature honeycomb design. This powerful design element reflects the essence of a brand that is a buzzing hive of creative activity with a distinct penchant for geometrical architectural effects conveying a unique vision of time and space.

HAUTLENCE has a particular affinity for the functional yet decorative minimalist symmetry of the honeycomb pattern, which it was the first to introduce to the watch industry with its HLQ02 model launched in 2007. In doing so, it reaffirmed the timeless strength of this unique motif derived from nature and which has proved a constant source of fascination and inspiration.

Its hexagonal shape was found by the Ancient Greeks to promote efficiency in the use of space and building materials, and the Romans incorporated it into the architecture of prestigious constructions such as the Pantheon. This ever-contemporary motif has been given a stunning variety of new engineering, scientific and architectural applications in the 20th and 21st centuries. From spacecraft and airplanes to LED or loudspeaker technologies and from automobile structures to snowboards and furniture, the honeycomb has become an integral part of modern life.

A brand-new chapter in HAUTLENCE history

Founded in 2004, HAUTLENCE is committed to bringing a new dynamic to the art of watchmaking, thus gaining the recognition of watch collectors and connoisseurs the world over. It has a portfolio of four calibres designed and developed in-house, while relying on external partners for the movements of certain collections. It launched the HL calibre in 2005, followed in 2009 by the HLQ calibre, with the brand’s third calibre, the HLC, hot on its heels in 2010. The following year saw the introduction of the high-flying HL2.0 calibre in a variety of different versions. Since 2012, HAUTLENCE has enjoyed the support of MELB Holding, which has made its experience and network accessible to the brand with the aim of developing effective synergies between HAUTLENCE and the group as a whole.

Like its name, an anagram of the brand’s hometown of Neuchâtel, HAUTLENCE is renowned for turning things upside down. In this vein, the brand has challenged the boundaries of traditional watchmaking designs by drawing on its architectural inspired roots and uniting them with innovative mechanical solutions borrowed from other industrial universes. Acutely aware of the two essential dimensions of time and space, HAUTLENCE is driven to design timepieces distinguished by consistently original curves and depth effects

Manufacture Royale – 1770 Rose Gold with Openwork Skeleton Dial

Manufacture Royale 1770 Rose Gold with Openwork Skeleton Dial NEW

Named 1770 after the year Manufacture Royale was founded, this timepiece newly embodies the daring and excellence which define the Manufacture. Its restrained and thoughtfully elaborated form is the continuation of a generous and creative style, though contours have been softened and remodelled to propose a watch that is both sober and contemporary. Entirely developed and manufactured in-house, its haute horlogerie movement incorporates a splendid flying tourbillon.

This year, Manufacture Royale unveils its rose gold version with an openwork dial available in both silver and black gold.

In-house flying tourbillon movement

The MR03 calibre inside the 1770 watch showcases one of watchmaking's most refined technical sophistications: the flying tourbillon. This aesthetically pleasing and visually spectacular construction leaves the observer free to admire in all its splendour the movement of the escapement and the superlative finishing of its parts. An essential component since it determines the watch's precision, here the escapement embraces the ultimate innovation with a pallet fork and escape wheel in silicon. Thanks to its resistance to variations in temperature and to magnetic fields, among other qualities, silicon makes an important contribution to the movement's performance. The calibre integrates a ceramic ball bearing that reduces friction and improves shock resistance for a greater durability. In this instance, it also incorporates a screwed balance and a flat balance spring.

The flying tourbillon, which makes one revolution in 60 seconds, is positioned asymmetrically at 7 o'clock. This unconventional choice creates a unique visual tension that gives the watch all its personality. In addition to hours and minutes, the 1770 incorporates a power-reserve indicator for a power reserve of 108 hours or four and a half days. Comprising 208 parts, the MR03 is hand-wound.

Graphic dial & suspended case

In its openwork dial version, the 1770 offers a striking yet very elegant look. Its various levels lend a bold and technical dimension, offering glimpses of the movement with different forms. The sword-shaped hands are partly satin-finished and partly polished for easy legibility.

Manufacture Royale is also known for the complexity and immediately identifiable design of its watches' exteriors. Comprising a great many carefully executed and hand-finished parts, they are constructed in accordance with a pre-defined principle: the movement is housed inside a case, which in turn is contained in a sometimes mobile structure. A hallmark of Manufacture Royale, this principle is captured in its essence by the 1770. Two beautifully proportioned brancards hug the case. Secured by functional, visible screws, they extend beyond it, then gently curve to form the lugs.

The crown is polished with the initials "MR" engraved in its centre. The back of the case is entirely open to reveal the splendour of the movement. Alternating polished, straight-grained and satin finishes, the exterior of the 1770 watch is a consummate example of Swiss haute horlogerie in both its aesthetic, imagined by the acclaimed watch designer Eric Giroud, and the flawless crafting and finishing of its parts. Made from 20 separate elements, the 18k rose gold case measures 43mm in diameter.
