LOUIS MOINET – STELLARIUM Tourbillon Gold Edition

LOUIS MOINET – Cosmic Art Tourbillon STELLARIUM Gold Edition - 2026

 Time in the cosmos

A star-spangled sky, celestial bodies tracing a path across the vast firmament, a universe that is constantly changing. This was the spectacle that Louis Moinet, the master watchmaker, could see through his telescope. And it was to measure the movement of the stars that, in 1816, he created the famous Compteur de tierces, the first chronograph in history.

Now, 210 years later, Les Ateliers Louis Moinet is presenting the STELLARIUM. This creation invites us to contemplate the cosmos from two perspectives. On the dial is a striking panorama of stars that light up at night. On the back, a planetary display whose arrangement of the stars subtly evokes a key moment in the history of watchmaking.

“STELLARIUM is defined as a space dedicated to the stars. Together with the Louis Moinet Technical Laboratory, we conceived this timepiece as a universe to be explored. Its many details reveal themselves gradually. Indeed, the STELLARIUM offers many surprises and a few secrets as well.” Nathanaël Schaller, Creative Director

THE DIAL: A STELLAR PANORAMA

The STELLARIUM dial presents the spectacle of a sky studded with stars. By day, the web of longitude and latitude lines evokes the harmonious, graphic quality of a star chart. By night, the stars take centre stage: they glow blue and seem to vanish into infinite depth.

In the background, the Muonionalusta meteorite is bathed in a deep midnight blue. Formed nearly 4.5 billion years ago, at the dawn of the solar system, it is thought to have fallen to Earth around one million years ago in northern Sweden. Inside are the famous Widmanstätten patterns, natural geometric designs formed by extremely slow cooling. For the STELLARIUM, the meteorite was dyed a deep blue using a process that is complex and has been kept secret. This extraterrestrial mineral, which acts as a link between the cosmos and the timepiece’s mechanism, is also used as a backdrop to the tourbillon cage.

The sense of depth in the STELLARIUM dial is achieved through a particularly ingenious design. Composed of several layered elements, it notably combines meteorites with a transparent sapphire disc.

THE PLANETARIUM: A DATE IN THE HEAVENS

The movement side of the STELLARIUM shows a fascinating tableau: the solar system. The planets, some of which measure just two millimetres in diameter, have been meticulously hand-painted and are arranged on a grid that appears to float above a starry sky.

The ultimate secret can now be revealed: the planets are positioned according to their exact configuration on 21 March 2013, the day the world of watchmaking learned of a major historical milestone. On that day, at the Neuchâtel Observatory, Jean-Marie Schaller unveiled the famous Compteur de tierces, created in 1816 by the great watchmaker Louis Moinet, which turned out to be the first chronograph ever made.

Unique customisation

However, this date is merely one possibility for the planets’ positioning. On request, they can also be arranged to show a date chosen for its special significance. It is a unique way of immortalising a moment that matters to its owner in the heavens.

“Ever since I was a child, I have watched my father persistently track and study the life and work of Louis Moinet. He was convinced of his exceptional contribution to watchmaking. So, 21 March 2013 marked a decisive milestone in the mission he had set himself: to restore Louis Moinet to his rightful place in the pantheon of great watchmakers. I love the idea that STELLARIUM reflects this story, which is both about watchmaking and deeply personal. Astronomy had led Louis Moinet to the Compteur de tierces; two centuries later, the planets mark the day on which his genius was finally recognised.” Nathanaël Schaller, Creative Director

THE CASE: A POWERFUL DESIGN

The STELLARIUM case stands out for its clean lines and highly technical construction. Its openworked sides reveal a blue, DLC-coated titanium core housing the movement. This structure is inside a red-gold frame made up of four separate elements that are ingeniously assembled. The curved sapphire crystal further accentuates the depth of the overall design.

Aficionados will recognise the aesthetic vigour of the IMPULSION case, which has been subtly reworked here: the tops of the lugs are now solid, the downward lines have been redesigned, and the leather strap features a classic clasp.

THE HOVERING TOURBILLON

The STELLARIUM features a flying tourbillon with an off-centre cage that appears to defy gravity in a captivating manner. The hand-wound movement is powered by two serial spring barrels that are arranged head-to-tail using the «volte-face» system. It provides a generous power reserve of 96 hours.

MeisterSinger Dedicates Its New Special Edition to the Tulip

To mark its 25th anniversary, MeisterSinger presents an intricately crafted Netherlands Edition featuring a magnificent tulip-inspired dial. Limited to just 66 pieces, this exclusive timepiece combines the unmistakable identity of the Netherlands with MeisterSinger's iconic single-hand philosophy. Time quite literally comes into bloom.

A Dutch tradition

Since 2004, MeisterSinger has released an exclusive annual special edition for the Dutch market—timepieces eagerly anticipated by collectors and enthusiasts alike. This year's edition pays tribute to one of the country's most iconic symbols: the tulip.

From Tulip Mania to a national symbol

Few symbols are as closely associated with the Netherlands as the tulip. Originally native to Central Asia, the flower reached the Netherlands via the Ottoman Empire during the 16th century. It quickly became a highly coveted luxury item. During the famous Tulip Mania of the 17th century, rare tulip bulbs were traded at prices that at times equalled the value of an Amsterdam canal house.

What is widely regarded as one of history's first speculative market bubbles also established the tulip as an enduring part of Dutch culture. To this day, the country's vibrant tulip fields are among its most recognizable landscapes, making the flower an enduring symbol of Dutch identity.

Magnificent

The centrepiece of the NL Edition 2026 is its elaborately constructed two-layer dial. The lower level features a radiant sunburst blue finish that creates vivid reflections as the light changes. Its colour evokes the unmistakable beauty of Delft Blue ceramics, adding another distinctly Dutch element alongside the tulip motif. Above it sits a precisely machined upper layer featuring an intricate ornamental tulip pattern. Together, the two layers create a rich yet harmonious composition with remarkable depth and elegance.

The two-digit hour numerals are arranged in a circular layout inspired by the historic design of MeisterSinger's beloved "365" models. Completing the dial is a finely shaped needle hand, modelled after historical examples and reminiscent of those found on clocks of the 17th century. Finished in an elegant blue, it perfectly complements the dial.

The MeisterSinger NL Edition 2026 is strictly limited to only 66 pieces worldwide.

The watch is housed in the iconic MeisterSinger №03 case. A distinctive hallmark of every NL Edition is the crown positioned on the left-hand side—an unmistakable tradition faithfully continued by the new model. The tulip pattern is echoed on the exhibition case back as a printed motif on the crystal, visually linking the front and back of the watch into one harmonious design.

About MeisterSinger

MeisterSinger is an owner-managed family company based in Münster, Germany. Since 2001, the brand has been synonymous with mechanical watches crafted to “Swiss made” quality standards. MeisterSinger focuses on single-hand watches that invite you to experience time in a more relaxed manner. Every MeisterSinger watch bears a distinctive signature, inspired by the charisma of classic measuring instruments – minimalist, perfectly balanced, and resolutely functional. Over 35 awards presented by the most prestigious design panels impressively underline MeisterSinger’s excellent design expertise.
With its single-hand approach, MeisterSinger creates its timepieces in the technical and cultural tradition of early watchmaking. For centuries, clocks and watches indicated the time with a single hand; only in the 18th century were minute and second hands introduced.
With around 15 model families, MeisterSinger demonstrates how remarkably versatile the single-hand principle can be – even when combined with additional complications such as date, weekday, moon phase, or jumping hour. MeisterSinger single-hand watches are sold in over 30 countries worldwide and appeal to people who appreciate the extraordinary.
