Access to this Experience is available by purchasing the new Radiomir 8 Giorni Eilean Experience Edition PAM01643. Limited to just 30 pieces, the timepiece is crafted from recovered bronze from Eilean itself. During the yacht’s extensive restoration, parts of its original structure were salvaged, including sections of bronze fittings, which were then incorporated into the watch. The original Eilean bronze underwent a long and meticulous process of successive castings to clean it, and then it was carefully blended with new bronze to create the bezel, crown and medallion on the case back of this limited edition timepiece.

The Panerai Bronzo is composed of copper with 8% tin, making it versatile with high structural strength. The steel case, measuring 45mm, complements the bronze elements with a rugged, burnished finish called Brunito. Through an intricate process, the steel undergoes a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) treatment followed by hand-brushing to enhance the vintage appeal, lending the watch a distinct appearance, making every Radiomir 8 Giorni Eilean Experience Edition an individual expression of its owner’s adventures.

Beneath the surface lies Panerai’s P.5000 hand-wound calibre, offering an impressive 8-day power reserve—an homage to Panerai’s longstanding tradition of creating functional, long-lasting instruments. The movement features a robust design with most components enclosed between two plates, leaving only the balance cock and intermediate wheel visible.

The hand-wound P.5000 calibre, a movement entirely developed and produced in the Manufacture in Neuchâtel with a long power reserve of eight days, inspired some of the historic watches created by Panerai for the frogmen of Italian Navy.

It is 15¾ lignes in diameter and 4.5mm thick, very solidly constructed and fitted with a large brush-finished plate with diamond polished chamfering; this almost completely conceals the wheel work, while revealing the balance which oscillates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. The long power reserve is achieved by two spring barrels connected in series

The large 10 mm balance wheel uses a variable inertia design with four external adjusting screws, allowing precise regulation without disassembly. Supported by a traversing bridge, this setup enhances chronometric performance and provides extra stability to maintain accuracy during shocks.

PAM01643’s aesthetics perfectly reflect Panerai’s nautical heritage, merging functionality with timeless elegance. The dial, a grainy beige, recalls the sails of Eilean, evoking the feeling of wind on the open sea. The luminescent numerals and markers, characteristic of the Radiomir, are highlighted in soft tones, adding a warm, vintage touch to the face. The dark brown leather strap is hot-stamped with 1936, commemorating the yacht’s launch.

On the back of the case, a bronze medallion is intricately engraved with the word Eilean and the year of her maiden voyage, further cementing the connection between the watch and the storied vessel.

A hallmark of Panerai’s heritage, PAM01628’s robust 47mm case is inspired by the watches worn by Italian commandos during their daring underwater missions, where the larger diameter enhances readability, a crucial feature for a tool watch. The case features a patina finish, achieved through a precise process that combines special techniques, resulting in a matte look that reduces glare and enhances the watch’s rugged aesthetic. Creating the patina finish involves hand-applied techniques by skilled craftsmen - a type of polishing that gives the case a slightly worn and aged appearance reminiscent of the natural wear that vintage Panerai watches would exhibit over time.

The steel bezel and case’s patina finish sharply contrasts with the brushed steel elements of the bridge, lever and buckle, adding texture and depth. The two finishes – patina and brushed steel – are paired with a grey grainy and black gradient sandwich dial along with beige Super-LumiNova™ indicators. Panerai created the sandwich structure in the late 1930s to achieve maximum legibility even in very low-light conditions. This dial was made of three parts: the upper plate was drilled, and the lower plate was covered with a luminous substance. The upper and lower plates were joined with a transparent Plexiglas® disc. The watch was so bright that during night-time operations, the underwater commandos had to cover it with mud or seaweed to avoid being spotted. The sandwich construction has progressively evolved and is currently composed of only two superimposed plates, the lower one filled with Super-LumiNova™.

At the heart of the new PAM01628 is the P.3000, a manually wound movement with a three-day power reserve, achieved through two barrels. Renowned for its robustness, reliability, and connection to the brand’s historical roots, the manual winding mechanism allows for a more hands-on experience for the user.

The P.3000 caliber features a large 11.7 mm balance wheel operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, enhancing precision and stability, and is supported by a traversing balance bridge for increased durability. Measuring 37.2 mm in diameter, this substantial movement is visible through the open case back, showcasing its mechanical beauty and fine details.

The design and construction of the P.3000 caliber draw heavily from Panerai’s archival movements used in the 1960s, replicating the functional and aesthetic qualities of these vintage calibres, including open bridges, which provide a clear view of the inner workings. The finishing of the P.3000 is intentionally clean and utilitarian, reflecting the practical needs of military divers who first used these reliable instruments. A true celebration of the Maison’s heritage, Luminor Tre Giorni PAM01628 caters to purists and watch connoisseurs.

Water resistant up to 10 bar (~100 meters), the new timepiece has been rigorously tested, subjecting it to a pressure up to 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure it fulfils Panerai’s stringent standards.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the inception of the Paneristi community, Panerai presents the new Luminor Venticinque PAM02025 at this year’s P-Day - the annual Paneristi gathering scheduled for October 4th, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Previewing exclusively at this event, the new watch, limited to 1000 pieces, will be made accessible to Paneristi for pre-order. Set to be released in September 2025, PAM02025 will be solely available to the community for a month before extending to the public.

 

Celebrating 25 years of the Paneristi community is a momentous occasion for Panerai. The dedication, passion and camaraderie of this remarkable group have been instrumental in shaping our journey. Designed with input from our loyal Paneristi, the new Luminor Venticinque embodies the values and rich history that unite us. For years, Paneristi, a self-initiated group of now over 30,000 members worldwide, have proudly shared their enthusiasm and love for Panerai. With more than 30 hubs globally, each member contributes their experiences and stories, where everyone finds common ground in their passion. The new Luminor Venticinque PAM02025 follows suit – this time – to mark the quartercentury of Paneristi. Recognizing the importance they hold for the Maison, it was crafted in close collaboration with the aficionados, directly involving some members in the design phase. This process allowed for the incorporation of specific requests and preferences from the community, ensuring that the final design faithfully reflects the desires of the Maison’s enthusiasts.

    Choosing such milestones is never easy. Working with Panerai team is an indescribable honor,” says Padraig Conway, founder of Paneristi.com, who was involved in designing the new timepiece. “This anniversary piece presents a unique assembly. The case honors the past, reminiscent of the PAM00127 that the Paneristi calls the ‘Fiddy’, echoing memories of historical releases like the 6152/1. The innovative increasing depth of blue dial as it seeks the face perimeter, complimented by a tan and blue strap choice, reminding us of the ocean as it boasts a quality 30-BAR depth.

  The domed crystal offers a more interesting distortion to its iconic sandwich dial all captured within the new steel brunito case. It’s definitely a first of its kind in Panerai, and demonstrates the past and future can combine, seamlessly. PAM02025 reflects much history transferred into a modern collection piece. It’s a great segue for enthusiasts who want a case with historic connections. I often think of the joy this piece will bring and what it truly honors - 25 years of passion, corporate friendship, and an unparalleled community. PAM02025, named after the 25th anniversary and launch year, is inspired by the Luminor PAM00127 reference from 2003. This model is well-known among Paneristi and affectionately referred to as “Fiddy” referencing the 1950 decal on the dial.

The new timepiece features a 44mm brunito steel case with a finish – developed by Panerai – that is achieved through a manual process that gives each piece a distinctive character. This method involves layering the steel with a PVD coating that is then manually reworked, creating an aged effect reminiscent of gun barrels. This handmade finishing process ensures that no two watches are exactly alike.

PAM02025 features a blue gradient sandwich dial paired with beige Super-LumiNova® X1 and a domed sapphire crystal, a nod to the Maison’s 1960s models created for the Italian Navy, enhancing the overall readability of the dial. Originally made from Plexiglas®, these crystals are now crafted from sapphire, formed of corundum, a very hard material that is second only to diamond, for elevated durability and resilience. The domed curvature not only improves the watch’s aesthetic but also accentuates the dial’s features, adding depth and dimension to the watch’s face especially underwater or in low-light conditions.

Other historical elements include the golden colour pencil-style hands, which contrast elegantly with the blue dial and a lever bridge mounted downwards. On the earlier models developed for the Italian military, the lever was sometimes mounted in reverse, which made it easier for divers to operate the watch’s winding mechanism. These features pay homage to the historical tradition of Panerai’s military watches and their characteristic functional design while incorporating modern technology for improved usability. The lever bridge of the crown protecting device bears the inscription ‘Paneristi’ and the seethrough smoked crystal case back is decorated with the Paneristi 25th anniversary logo to commemorate this limited edition.

PAM02025 is powered by the P.6000 caliber, a manual-wind movement – exclusive to Panerai – bearing a 3-day power reserve that allows for a more hands-on experience for the user. The caliber is 15½ lignes in diameter and features a balance wheel oscillating at 21,600 vibrations per hour, stabilized by a traversing balance bridge for precise positioning. The open case back of the new timepiece allows for a view of the intricate movement, highlighting the technical proficiency and aesthetic of the watch. It embodies Panerai’s heritage, showcasing dedication to transparency and excellence in watchmaking.

With a water resistance of up to 30 bar (~300 meters), the timepiece has been rigorously tested, subjecting it to a pressure up to 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value to ensure it exceeds Panerai’s stringent standards. The improved value is a significant milestone in a domain deeply intertwined with Panerai’s heritage that has consistently made the Maison a preferred choice. The watch case, sapphire crystal and crown-protecting device with lever work together to create a watertight seal, preventing moisture and dust from entering the movement.

Time is exhibited on a gradient blue dial, which starts with a lighter blue at the center, while darkening towards black at the edges, creating a sense of depth and visual intrigue. The grained surface of the dial adds texture and breaks the simplicity of traditional designs. This gradient effect is a contemporary twist on Panerai’s classic aesthetic, emphasizing the watch’s blend of heritage and modernity.

The dial also has a modern take on the brand’s signature “sandwich” dial design, which consists of two stacked discs. The lower disc features luminous print that shines through cut-outs on the upper disc, creating a distinctive, three-dimensional look for the hour markers. The Super-Luminova used for the lume has an ivory tone, providing a vintage feel that contrasts beautifully with the modern, gradient blue color of the dial.

At the heart of the design are the gilt “pencil” hands, which are also coated with Super-Luminova for excellent legibility in low light. The dial is clean and minimalist, displaying only the hours and minutes for an uncluttered look. The combination of the smoked blue dial, the luminous cut-out markers, and the gilt hands creates a visually striking timepiece that stays true to Panerai’s tradition while offering a fresh, modern aesthetic.

The timepiece is paired with a vintage calf leather strap with a brunito trapezoidal buckle and an additional blue rubber strap is included. Each timepiece is presented in a special wooden box, a Panerai’s signature for its limited-edition releases. This is a limited edition of only 1,000 manufactured pieces.
