The new Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733 pays tribute to the original 47mm Luminor design of the 1960s thoughtfully adapted to a 44mm case. With this new timepiece the unmistakable Luminor design – characterized by its robust case, signature crown protective bridge, luminous numerals, and distinctive sandwich dial – is reverently preserved, while boldly presented in a captivating Brunito finish.

At Watches & Wonders 2026, Panerai, celebrates its legendary legacy as a trusted supplier of professional instruments to the Italian Navy, through the launch of heritage-inspired timepieces that carry forward the design of the purpose-built diving instruments of the ‘60s, now with a contemporary tweak. We are committed to building a portfolio where all the hallmarks of our functional design, including bold and robust cases, high-water resistance, luminous dials, and hand-wound calibres delivering extended power reserves, remain steadfast” says Alessandro Ficarelli, Chief Marketing and Product Officer of Panerai.

Brunito appearance draws on the natural ageing found on metal equipment exposed to repeated field use, such as navigational tools and optical housings, showing softened edges, controlled wear, and a shift from deep black to grey where handling was most frequent. Panerai studied this type of surface transformation as part of the development process, translating it into a modern treatment that is intentionally worked by hand.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The process begins with a black PVD layer applied across the steel case. This layer is then reduced through a manual brushing technique that follows a defined direction but allows for small, controlled variations. These variations evoke the way service instruments aged over time, especially along corners and exposed edges. The result carries the purposeful character associated with equipment built for operational environments. Each Brunito case differs slightly due to the individual work done on every component.

This finishing is paired with a case construction that draws inspiration from the iconic Ref. 6152/1 from the ‘60s. The architecture of the Luminor case reflects a progression defined by purpose and performance, and the large hand-wound calibres selected for their dependability.

Panerai Ref. 6152/1 with Luminor dial and Angelus 240 8-days movement.

Beginning with the earliest professional instruments of the 1930s and 1940s, Panerai gradually strengthened its case construction to meet the needs of underwater missions. Through the 1950s, references such as 6154 and 6152, with their 47mm cases, introduced solid lugs machined from a single block and a reinforced screw-down crown. A pivotal innovation which became part of the solidity of the case construction was the iconic crown protecting bridge.

Click, to see the large size.    BIG FOTO

Historically patented in 1956, this distinctive feature made its debut with the GPF 2/56, a 60 mm diving watch, supplied to the Egyptian Navy with the Italian Navy’s approval.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

By the mid-1950s and 1960s, reference 6152/1 established the cushion case, integrated lugs, and crown protecting bridge, defining the Luminor’s iconic silhouette that is now synonymous with the Maison.

This iconic case architecture with its 47mm bold presence, has been translated into a 44 mm format. The new PAM01733 takes inspiration from the original volumetric geometry with a true cushion middle case and a flat crown protecting bridge. The result preserves the structural integrity and proportions of Panerai’s historical design language in a size refined for contemporary wear. Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733’s case is complemented by a domed sapphire crystal, a design choice that recalls the visual effect of the PERSPEX® used in Panerai’s early dive watches. This detail enhances both depth and legibility, in a nod to the Maison’s early professional instruments.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The sapphire caseback is open, revealing the hand-wound P.5000 manufacture calibre with eight days of power reserve. The mechanism is largely enclosed between one plate and one broad bridge, leaving only the balance cock and an intermediate wheel visible. A variable inertia balance with small timing screws on its rim allows precise adjustment, while a full traversing bridge supports the balance, improving chronometric stability and helping the escapement maintain performance under shocks. Horizontal brushing on the plates, blue inscriptions and red jewels link the movement visually to Panerai’s current calibre language. For precise time setting, the calibre includes a stop-seconds function.

This useful mechanism activates when the winding crown is pulled to its second position: a spring blade halts the balance wheel, which in turn stops the small seconds hand on the dial, ensuring highly accurate time synchronization.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Historically, the search for a long power reserve has been closely tied to reliability under demanding conditions. The crown is one of the most exposed parts of a watch, subject to strain, handling and wear; each winding operation can affect durability and, over time, water-resistance.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The dedication to extended autonomy is testified by Giuseppe Panerai’s initial commitment to pursue the highest standards in the instruments supplied to the military forces. In the mid-1950s, he addressed this by selecting the hand-wound Angelus SF240 movement to animate the GPF 2/56.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This large movement (16 lignes) ensured a power reserve of around 200 hours, allowing it to run eight days on a single wind. This extended reserve reduced the frequency of winding, helping to protect the crown assembly and maintain water-tightness, facilitating the operations of underwater commandos. Over time, the eight-day configuration became one of the most recognizable elements of Panerai watchmaking and a key part of its identity. PAM01733 continues this legacy: a manual calibre that, once fully wound at the start of the week, can run until the following week without intervention, echoing the operational logic of the historic instruments while responding to contemporary use.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733 features an anthracite dial, which carries the new circular brushed finishing, an element that pairs expressively with the Brunito finish. This captivating visual effect is achieved through a hand-executed rotational brushing technique, resulting in micro-circles that ensure each piece develops its own slight variations. This results in responsiveness to light, allowing the anthracite tone to deepen and come alive in sunlight thanks to the circular patterning. Arabic numerals, hour markers, small seconds at 9 o’clock, and vintage inspired double pencil hands feature beige Super-LumiNova®, while the 8 Giorni” inscription, the Italian term for 8 days” marks its extended-autonomy while honoring the Maison’s Italian heritage.

PAM01733 is water resistant up to 30 bar (~300 meters). This represents a significant achievement for the vintage construction, embodying Panerai’s unwavering dedication to vigorous water resistance, a legacy stemming from its origins as a supplier of diving instruments for the Italian Navy. This performance is not merely claimed, but rigorously validated at the Laboratorio di Idee, the R&D department of Panerai’s Manufacture in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, where each watch undergoes extensive underwater testing. This commitment to durability begins with comprehensive quality certification, where every single component of the case is meticulously checked before assembly. Before the main water resistance assessment, the case and gaskets undergo a simulated 10 years of ageing, followed by an initial test to assess protection against dust and humidity infiltration. Once the entire watch is assembled (without the strap), it proceeds to a multi-stage water resistance verification. First, a vacuum unit test is performed to prevent damage in case of waterproofness issues. Subsequently, the watch is immersed in a specialized device filled with water, simulating the indicated pressure plus an additional 25% as a safety factor, and exposed for a specific duration. To confirm absolute dryness, the watch is then heated before cold water is dropped onto the sapphire glass; any internal moisture would instantly become visible. This comprehensive water resistance test, excluding the ageing process, is performed on every individual timepiece, ensuring that each watch exceeds its guaranteed rating by 25%.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Completing the ensemble, the watch is paired with a light brown, straight-cut, vintage-style calf leather strap, perfectly matching the beige Super-LumiNova®. A black rubber strap is also provided for diving expeditions. Luminor 8 Giorni Brunito PAM01733 will be available in Panerai boutiques starting from June 2026.

The expedition culminates with a visit to the COMSUBIN base in Porto Venere, followed by a breathtaking yacht tour along the Ligurian coastline, a powerful evocation of the brand’s profound maritime roots. This voyage through time is thoughtfully complemented by the new Radiomir Viaggio Nel Tempo Experience Set, comprising PAM01729 and PAM01730, which marks the first time the Maison associates a Watch Set with one of its Experiences.

Radiomir Viaggio nel Tempo Experience PAM01729

An icon forged from history, the new Radiomir Viaggio nel Tempo Experience PAM01729 achieves a powerful first. The new watch, part of Maison’s first ever Experience Watch Set, combines two of Panerai’s most iconic and historically significant features: the distinctive California dial configuration with a commanding 47mm bronze case, a material deeply rooted in the brand’s profound maritime legacy.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The California Dial owes its fame to the distinctive alternation of Roman and Arabic numerals on its two halves, a feature that has made it a favorite among collectors. It also perfectly embodies the concept of functional design: a design born from necessity, conceived to ensure superior readability in dark conditions, where the two distinct halves provided an immediate indication of the dial’s orientation.

📸Foto -Time+Tide

Legend has it that the California dial got its particular name from a dial restoration company in California that became known for modifying this kind of watch dial and leading collectors to dub them “California”.

The PAM01729’s 47mm bronze case boasts a special composition, where the use of pure copper and pure tin promotes the creation of a distinctive patina on the surface. Thanks to this special evolution, this alloy has become a true asset for the Maison, solidifying Panerai’s bronze timepieces as some of the most sought-after. The aging process of bronze is truly fascinating, as every piece evolves with the owner’s life, acquiring a distinctive appearance: when new, it exhibits a warm, red gold-like hue, gradually developing a patina that arises from its interaction with external elements such as air, moisture, heat, and friction.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

While this patina doesn’t alter the material’s inherent properties, this protective layer imbues each piece with a unique appearance while safeguarding the material itself. This evolving character makes PAM01729 an ideal companion for this new Experience through time, poised to accompany owners through the brand’s history, preserving their memories within its distinctive surface. PAM01729’s vintage appeal is reinforced by its slim wire lugs and cone-shaped crown, signature features of the historic dive watches from the mid-1930s and 1940s.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

PAM01729 is powered by the P.3000 calibre with 3 days power reserve, a large movement that draws inspiration from historic Panerai models. With a diameter of 16½ lignes, its construction resembles a three-quarter plate movement, with a large bridge alongside a smaller one covering most mechanical parts.

Bar markers and a minute track complete the dial’s layout, while a black dial creates a striking backdrop for the blue burnished steel hands, whose distinctive blue hue echoes the heritage of fine watchmaking, when bluing was essential for protecting against corrosion and improving legibility. This signature hue is now achieved through a controlled oxidation process at about 300°C.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The vintage appeal of the dial is accentuated with a domed PLEXIGLAS® crystal, recalling the design of the early dive watches with a luminescent Radiomir dial, developed for the Italian Navy. Beige Super-LumiNova® adds a vintage touch and ensures optimal visibility in low light, emitting a green glow in the dark.

The titanium open caseback features a sapphire glass, providing a privileged glimpse into the heart of the timepiece: the P.3000 calibre, developed in Panerai’s Manufacture in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. PAM01729’s look is complemented by a dark brown rolled leather strap, featuring a flat and understated vintage construction, and a bronze pin buckle with a trapezoidal shape, recalling the historic Panerai watches covered by the military secret.

Radiomir Viaggio nel Tempo Experience PAM01730

The second timepiece pairs a 47mm Radiomir with Panerai Platinumtech™. The Radiomir Viaggio nel Tempo Experience PAM01730 features a special alloy made with 95% pure platinum that boasts an 85% increase in hardness than standard platinum due to a distinctive treatment process.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Providing a higher scratch resistance than standard platinum, this material weights 33% more than 18-carat gold, giving the new timepiece a notable heft.

PAM01730 introduces a more elaborate expression of Panerai contemporary watchmaking through the decorated hand-wound P.3001/10 calibre. Its skeletonized bridges, finished with perlage, allow a clear view of the calibre’s architecture and the balance wheel in motion.

PAM01730 features for the very first time a black circular-brushed dial, which presents the Maison’s signature sandwich construction, historically featured in Panerai’s early dive watches to enhance readability even in total darkness. This captivating visual effect is achieved through a hand-executed rotational brushing technique, resulting in micro-circles that ensure each piece develops its own slight variations.

Like PAM01729, also PAM01730 features blue burnished steel hands, with the blue hue echoing Panerai’s legacy. Beige Super-LumiNova® on hands and numerals emits a green glow in the dark and ensures optimal visibility in low light.

 Bronze, legacy forged by time

A material deeply connected to Panerai’s maritime heritage, bronze embodies the Maison’s spirit of innovation and enduring bond to the sea. Its patina evolves with time as lived, creating a surface as individual as the owner. Every watch ages with a unique identity, becoming a companion shaped by the adventures it experiences.

Following the success of the new Luminor Marina series in steel and titanium, unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2025, Panerai introduces bronze to its most iconic collection for the first time. The new Luminor Marina PAM01678 marks a significant milestone as the first-ever Luminor Marina crafted in bronze, poised to become the Maison’s next highly coveted tool watch.

Historically valued in the construction of vintage yachts and ship components for its durability and resistance to seawater, bronze was a crucial material before the widespread adoption of stainless steel.

The PAM01678’s bronze case is paired with a matte dark blue sandwich dial, shifting from a deep blue at the edges to a lighter tone towards the center. This perfectly complements the warm tones of the bronze case and the beige Super-LumiNova® used to fill the numerals and hands, ensuring the watch readability even in low-light conditions. Drawing inspiration from Panerai’s historic models of the 1960s, the dial is intentionally designed without a date window, displaying only the Maison’s name and ‘Luminor Marina’, resulting in a clean, essential aesthetic.

Further demonstrating its commitment to accuracy, the P.980 has undergone rigorous six-position testing to guarantee reliable chronometric performance. The movement’s construction incorporates finishing touches for an essential design, and it operates at a frequency engineered to maintain consistent, accurate timekeeping over extended use. PAM01678 showcases the modernized case design of the new Luminor Marina collection, where the calibre’s sleeker proportions, measuring just 12½ lignes, guarantee a comfortable and ergonomic experience on the wrist, all while preserving the watch’s signature bold identity.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Like the other new Luminor Marina timepieces, the Luminor Marina Bronzo PAM01678 boasts upgraded water resistance up to 50 bar (~500 meters), reinforcing Panerai’s legacy of professional tool watches developed for the demanding needs of the Italian Navy commandos. This evolution is also made possible by the compact architecture of the P.980 movement, which allowed for improved proportions and weight of the watch.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

These advancements, alongside innovations in case construction and pressure resistance, contribute to enhanced water resistance. Water resistance is a domain mastered by the Panerai Laboratorio di Idee, with rigorous testing conducted in water – a practice few brands undertake – at a pressure 25% greater than the guaranteed water resistance value.

The new PAM01678 features the Luminor Marina new streamlined lugs, and it is presented on a blue calf leather strap with beige stitching, a nod to vintage construction techniques that enhance the timepiece’s overall vintage aesthetic. An additional blue rubber strap is also included, offering a sporty, water-friendly alternative.
