OMEGA Introduces the New Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer in Two Distinctive Colours

OMEGA’s innovative Worldtimer is now introduced into the Seamaster Planet Ocean collection. Since 2017, this captivating style has been a popular choice within the brand’s Aqua Terra 150M range. But now, the mechanical complexity and meticulous aesthetics are reimagined in a bold new ceramic form, giving avid travellers two captivating choices to wear on their wrists.

Following the look of the Planet Ocean Deep Black, each of the 45.50 mm models is presented with a brushed case in black ceramic [ZrO2], along with a black ceramic bezel that features a laser-ablated diving scale that is polished in positive relief.

Perhaps the most enthralling detail of any OMEGA Worldtimer is at the very centre. Here, a vision of the continents is produced on a grade 5 titanium surface, with a view over the North Pole created via laser-ablation and varnish. It’s an exceptional level of detailing that brings the planet into truly sharp focus.

Surrounding this topographic map is a 24-hour indication, dividing night and day, beneath hesalite glass. The outer section of each dial is made with a DLC black colour and is further embellished with a laser-ablated and polished honeycomb pattern.

The two unique styles include:

  •    A model with turquoise varnish, featuring hands and indexes filled with white Super-LumiNova. It is worn on an integrated strap in black structured rubber with turquoise stitching and a foldover clasp in ceramic and ceramised titanium.
  •    A model with grey varnish, featuring hands and indexes filled with OMEGA’s new grey Super-LumiNova. It is worn on the same black structured rubber strap but includes a grey underside.

With OMEGA’s Planet Ocean Worldtimer, you are forever connected to the cities and hours across our planet. This is courtesy of the global destinations that encircle each dial and its outer ring. More than just a list of intrepid place names, these markers allow the wearer to track the day across multiple time zones, including in Switzerland, where OMEGA has included its hometown of Bienne at GMT+1.

Powering these watches is the automatic Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8938, which can be seen through the sapphire crystal casebacks. Fans of the Planet Ocean collection will of course notice the impressive water-resistance of 60 bar (600m / 2000ft),

OMEGA Launches The Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite

Since landing on the Moon in 1969, the OMEGA Speedmaster has become eternally connected to the wonders of the night sky. Now, the collection is celebrating that authentic affinity with the release of the new Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite.

This 43 mm collection presents two different choices in stainless steel. Each watch harnesses two forms of meteorite and is powered by an innovative OMEGA calibre, designed to display lunar cycles as seen from both the northern and southern hemispheres.

The magic begins on the face of each timepiece, with a dial that is formed of iron meteorite. This ancient space material reveals a pattern of ribbon-like flecks that is unique in every watch. OMEGA has then gone one step further by colouring the iron meteorite with either a black PVD or galvanic grey coating.

From there, the Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite takes a truly captivating direction, revealing a display that has never been seen on a Speedmaster before. At 6 o’clock, the Moonphase indication shows two cabochon Moons, which have been crafted from genuine pieces of Moon meteorite.

Apollo 11 – Buzz Aldrin on the Moon with Omega Speedmaster

As they turn, they reveal the changing illuminations seen in the northern and southern hemispheres, and even more incredibly, the stars in the background are positioned exactly as they were on the night that Apollo 11 reached the Moon in 1969 - as seen from OMEGA’s watchmaking home in Bienne, Switzerland.

The 3 o’clock subdial offers a 60-minute and 12-hour recorder, while at 9 o’clock, there is a Small Seconds subdial with a date display featuring a red anodized aluminium hand.

To drive all of these impressive functions, OMEGA has built the brand new manual-winding Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9914. The movement, including its special finish, is visible through the flat sapphire crystal on the caseback.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

It is anti-magnetic to 15,000 gauss and guarantees OMEGA’s finest standard of precision and chronometric performance, as determined by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).

In finer detail, each model’s unique features include:

A black PVD coated meteorite dial on black PVD coated base, with 18K white gold hands and hour markers, and a black ceramic bezel with white enamel tachymeter scale.
A galvanic grey coated meteorite dial on a blue PVD coated base, with a blue ceramic bezel and white enamel tachymeter scale. The 18K gold hour markers and hour-minute hands are blue PVD coated, while the subdial hands appear in 18K white gold.

Each watch is worn on a polished and brushed bracelet with OMEGA’s patented comfort release adjustment system. The perfect finishing touch for an inspired timepiece, which keeps the Speedmaster in touch with its iconic Moon legacy, on every day, in every hemisphere on Earth.

OMEGA – Speedmaster PILOT Flight Qualified Chronograph

OMEGASpeedmaster PILOT Flight Qualified Chronograph 40.85 mm Steel - 2024

OMEGA Reaches the Skies With the New Speedmaster Pilot

Soaring between Earth and space, OMEGA watches have enjoyed a long history in the skies. Many pilots have relied on the brand’s functionality and precision to keep their flights on track – and on time. This year, to propel that legacy further, OMEGA proudly launches the new Speedmaster Pilot.

Click, to see the large size.  BIG FOTO

This 40.85 mm design takes its inspiration from the very first Speedmaster born in 1957. Known for its robust, reliable, and easy-to-read design, that original model became a “pilots’ choice” for many who flew in the U.S Air Force at the time.

The symmetrical body of the new watch is crafted in stainless steel and features a matte finish to ensure it avoids light reflections. The bezel is mounted with a matte aluminium ring and retains its connection to Speedmaster heritage through a “Dot Over Ninety” and “Diagonal to Seventy” mark on the tachymeter scale.

For wearers, the true individuality of this watch appears on the grained matte-black dial. Here, the hour/minute hands and hour markers are all presented with large blocks of white Super-LumiNova (green emission), providing full visibility during dark night flights. The matte-black central chronograph hand also stands out thanks to its varnished orange airplane tip.

Perhaps most eye-catching of all are the twin subdials – both opaline at the centre and bevelled on the outside. At 3H, OMEGA has included a 60-minute and 12-hour recorder with a triangular matte-orange hand and transferred white numerals. The subdial is designed to look like the “burn rate” indicator in aircraft cockpits.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Similarly, at 9H, the watch reveals a Small Seconds display, with a target/sight aesthetic inspired by cockpits, featuring a varnished matte-yellow hand and artificial horizon in blue.

Outstanding OMEGA precision is assured in the Speedmaster Pilot thanks to the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9900, which is certified by METAS at the highest standard of accuracy, performance, and magnetic-resistance. The movement sits just behind a metallic caseback, which is stamped with the Speedmaster’s traditional Seahorse medallion, and engraved with the water-resistance of “100m / 330ft”.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The watch can be worn on a stainless steel bracelet featuring OMEGA’s patented comfort release adjustment system, or alternatively on the additional grey NATO strap that is included, along with a special travel pouch. This strap is innovatively reinforced with KEVLAR® threads and a brushed stainless steel buckle.

    OMEGA’s Early Flight History

OMEGA watches have historically earned a very respected reputation amongst pilots. Beginning in World War II, the brand delivered more than 110,000 watches to Great Britain’s MoD to support its Air Force and Navy pilots during service.

Click, to see the large size. FOTO

Perhaps the most famous and widely-used of these was the UK/CK2292. Supplied to the majority of RAF and Fleet Air Arm personnel, this watch was notable for its greater magnetic-resistance, which was ideal for pilots who sat behind the powerful engines of their Hurricanes and Spitfires.

When the OMEGA Speedmaster was born in 1957, it was quickly adopted by some pilots in the U.S Air Force, many of whom would later become Mercury astronauts in NASA’s first manned space programme

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

In 1969, the OMEGA Flightmaster was released to specifically meet the needs of aircraft pilots, allowing them to check the time in an instant, while also giving travellers a complete instrument for their journeys. The radical design was big and bold, and a stark contrast to the standard chronographs of the time.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

1969 was also the year of the first Concorde flight. Not only were OMEGA time-measuring instruments made standard components for several Concorde aircraft, but many of the Concorde crew also chose to wear OMEGA watches to keep accurate time close at hand. One of those was Captain John Hackett, the first person to pilot Concorde over the Atlantic Ocean.
