Jacob & Co. doubles down on its massively popular Godfather-themed timepieces with the introduction of The Godfather II, a musical watch that plays two melodies from The Godfather score: “The Godfather’s Waltz” and “The Godfather Love Theme”.

 Housed in a new rectangular, curved case inspired by Art Deco, The Godfather II features enhanced sound projection and intensity. Its streamlined movement incorporates a flying tourbillon and dual power reserve indicators, combining musical complexity with high watchmaking.

The timepiece stands as an elaborate tribute to Founder Jacob Arabo’s favorite film, defined by a completely unique complication. The Godfather II is edited in a limited edition of 74 pieces, a reference to the movie’s 1974 release.

The two world famous compositions that were created by Nino Rota for director Francis Ford Coppola are central to The Godfather II’s identity. “The Godfather Love Theme” serves as the franchise’s main theme, while “The Godfather’s Waltz” is first heard during the original film’s wedding scene. Both are played via the integrated music box at the heart of The Godfather II timepiece.

 Powered by the new JCAM62 caliber, the watch introduces a complication that is completely unique in today’s watchmaking landscape: a melody selector at 10 o’clock that allows the wearer to choose between two tunes.

Activated by a pusher at 8 o’clock, each melody plays for 15–20 seconds and can be repeated up to 10 times on a single wind. Both songs are programmed onto a single music box barrel, an advancement that enables a more compact case while still housing a one-minute flying tourbillon.

“I wanted The Godfather II timepiece to offer a different take on the musical timepiece concept” Jacob Arabo adds. “We designed a refined, 1930s-inspired case and spent three years developing a movement that could play two melodies while remaining wearable.”

Like a movie set

True to Jacob & Co.’s design language, The Godfather II is rich in cinematic references. The black lacquer dial evokes the film’s noir aesthetic, while engraved bullet holes on the caseback nod to its violence. The crown features spiral grooves reminiscent of a gun barrel, and Don Corleone’s rose motif is engraved along the case.

A finely detailed portrait of Marlon Brando as Don Corleone anchors the dial, alongside the franchise’s signature puppet strings rendered in three-dimensional applique.

 The 42 x 44 mm rose gold case marks a departure from the Opera Godfather, with its curved, ergonomic profile and Art Deco styling.. The caseback features a piano-shaped sapphire opening, revealing the music box comb inside. It's covered by a plate engraved with The Godfather Love Theme’s actual score.

A personal resonance

For Jacob Arabo, The Godfather holds deep personal meaning.

“When I came to the U.S. in 1979, I was 14 and didn’t speak the language,” he recalls. “It took me two years to afford a movie ticket. The Godfather was the first film I saw in a theater.”

That experience inspired a series of creations, from the Opera Godfather collection to The Godfather II. Each timepiece tells a dual story: that of the Corleone family, and Arabo’s own journey.

The film’s opening line - “I believe in America” - resonated deeply with Jacob Arabo as a young immigrant, shaping the emotional core of this collection.

The comb and cylinder

At the heart of caliber JCAM62 is an intricate music box system built around a comb and cylinder. The comb’s 18 steel teeth produce different notes depending on their length, while a pin-studded brass cylinder activates them in sequence.

A lateral shift of less than a millimeter, controlled by the melody selector, changes which pins engage the comb, allowing the watch to alternate between the two compositions.

Energy management

The Godfather II features two power reserve indicators. The main movement offers a 72-hour reserve, while a separate indicator tracks the energy available for the music box.

On a full wind, it can play up to 10 melodies, another improvement on the original Opera Godfather. As energy depletes, visual cues signal when rewinding is needed.

A Godfather’s legacy

The Godfather II builds on the legacy of the Opera Godfather, the original 49-mm musical timepiece developed under the licensing agreement with Paramount Pictures.

Jacob & Co. links this unique speed with the mythical figure of Chronos, the ancient Greek god of time. He who holds time in his hands hugs the 4-second tourbillon carriage like his favorite child. His majestic presence gives God of Time its name, its dial and its magnitude.

The keeper of time eternal is executed as a three-dimensional rose gold sculpture, engraved and burnished by hand, sitting an a blue aventurine background. Housed in a 44.5-mm rose gold case shaped and sculpted like a Greek temple's pillar, God of Time is a mythical achievement.

Under the Aegis of Jacob Arabo, Jacob & Co. strikes yet again. Always “Inspired by the Impossible”, the New-York-based, high jewelry, high watchmaking brand creates a tourbillon faster than any other before. Instead of one rotation every 60 seconds, like 99.5% of tourbillon movements, God of Time shatters conventions and achieves one rotation every 4 seconds, with a weekend-proof power reserve.

Its case, dial and overall architecture are inspired by ancient Greek temples, whose namesake god was represented by a gigantic statue. Chronos, almost in the flesh, watches over the incredibly fast tourbillon carriage, against an aventurine backdrop dotted with the stars of a mythical night.

The myth of creation

Jacob & Co. has developed caliber JCAM60 from a blank page, specifically to shatter the record of the fastest tourbillon rotation. The tourbillon carriage's architecture is entirely aimed at increasing speed by reducing energy consumption through extreme weight reduction. Mostly made of titanium, the entire carriage weighs a mere 0.27 grams, a feat given its 12-mm diameter and embarked constant force. The variable inertia balance wheel is fitted with 8 gold weights while the hairspring features a Breguet overcoil, making this regulating organ a very classic, high end one.

 Its inner workings are fully revealed by a sapphire upper bridge. Underneath the carriage, an aventurine slab creates a starry background that reminds of the dial. The crown, dedicated exclusively to winding, is located on the left-hand side, while the right-hand side is occupied by the tourbillon. When on the wrist, the high speed carriage alone will peep out from under the cuff, in supernatural motion.

The gaze of Chronos

Chronos himself is represented like a Greek statue. Lying on a slab of blue aventurine, a large and crisp sculpture occupies the better part of the dial. It starts with a lump of 18K rose gold, stamped and shaped to the highest degree of execution.

Highly trained artisans then take on the task of breathing life into this character. Over the course of several days, they engrave, polish, burnish and apply a patina that gives Chronos an astounding level of detail. Hair, beard, toga, arms, muscles, tendons, even fingernails, he radiates with unique energy and powerful expression. At 37 mm in length and 1.5 mm in height at its thickest, this applique is one of the most impressive Métiers d'Art artifacts ever featured in a high complication timepiece.

The rose gold case of God of Time is designed to be the house of Chronos, and Greek deities dwell in temple. That case is therefore designed like a pillar of Ionic style, whose capital is made up of 2 ample and elegant volutes. Perfect balance, ideal proportions, the 44.25 mm diameter harmonizes with the 18.25 height to create a piece of classic architecture.

The caseband is ribbed like a marble pillar shaft, as is the crown. The caseback bears a print of Jacob Arabo's hand signature and face : Jacob & Co.'s Founder and Chairman has put his personal seal on this timepiece, as God of Time was created at the occasion of his 60th birthday.

Food for God

The energy consumption of a tourbillon is a function of its speed and weight. Every time the speed doubles, the force requirement quadruples. And this carriage is 15 times faster than the classic 60-second one. What's more, God of Time is not only the fastest of all tourbillons, it will run for 60 hours and more on a single wind, a Herculean task that God of Time accomplishes with miraculous ease.

 Feeding this one-of-a-kind invention requires a massive amount of energy. It's stored in two sets of two stacked barrels. They smoothly propel the tourbillon carriage at its astounding speed. But the escapement inside the carriage cannot bear such force. To protect it, Jacob & Co. has created a constant force system, of which the brand has become a specialist.

 Located one gear before the escape wheel, inside the tourbillon, it operates at the same speed at the escapement frequency, which is 3 Hz. 6 times per second, this remontoire lets just the right amount of energy in to feed the balance wheel. It thus acts as a buffer against the overwhelming force needed to move the tourbillon.

Jacob & Co. has made tourbillon its specialty to an unmatched degree. The brand's catalog is now rich of over 35 movements featuring it in one form or another. The World Is Yours is the occasion for Jacob & Co. to welcome partners from around the world. Just like Jacob Arabo's father gave him a key to the world when he gifted him the watch that inspired the collection, Jacob Arabo now opens The World Is Yours to MAD Paris. Working between Paris and London, they made a name for themselves by customizing timepieces for end clients.

MAD Paris has a unique take on black watches and on twisting the codes of the material they work with. The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris is lit, from within. It represents the night time aspect of the collection, which complements the day-time dials.

Design inspiration

The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris is a tribute to the watch that started it all. The watch that opened the world of watchmaking to Jacob Arabo. It's inspired by a vintage timepiece that's an Arabov family heirloom : a double time zone watch that Jacob Arabo received at the age of 13, from the hands of his father, Nison Arabov.

This black DLC steel version of The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone is the first model to be crafted in partnership with MAD Paris. If The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone represents the world from above by daytime, this is its night time counterpart.

When the lights are off, the luminescence of The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris appears. The world map is filled with hundreds of Individually applied city lights.

The sub-dials feature a MAD Paris typeface, and the center small seconds look like a wheel, giving The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris its absolutely modern look.

The development process

The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris takes after the original Wakmann double time zone Jacob Arabo received from his father. Like its inspiration, it features a double, independent timezone. It's powered by self-winding caliber JCAA11, which allows both sub-dials to be set separately.

Each one shows a different hour and a different minute, allowing to keep up with any timezone, especially the ones with a 15, 30 or 45 minute offset. The most important of them is India's single timezone, set at UTC + 5:30.

The complications and features

The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris perpetuates its dial and its complication, with an exclusive self-winding caliber and a unique night presence.

Two independent time zones

The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris indicates two time zones, complete with hours and minutes. Each one zone can be set down to the minute. It is the only way countries with unusual UTC time offsets, like India, can display both local time and home time accurately.

The crown located on the right side of the case has three positions. Winding, time setting for the lower time zone, time setting for the upper time zone. It's up to the wearer to choose which one is local time.

The night view

The dial of The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris is painstakingly hand crafted. The black titanium continents base is stamped, engraved and then filled with hundreds of SuperLumiNova dots.

City lights, like the ones visible from an aircraft at night, appear when the lights are off. Both sub-dials emerge, with all their indications perfectly lit and readable.

The domed, 3D dial

The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone MAD Paris houses a fine craft dial.

Made of titanium, its surface is widely curved, requiring the hands to be tilted at a 12° angle. It's stamped with a sky view of the western hemisphere at night.

The engraved caseback

The World Is Yours' dial only represents half the world. Its caseback offers a wider, more general view.

A large and detailed engraving on the smooth surface shows all of Asia, with a MAD Paris engraving in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
