Glashutte Original – PANO PanoLunarTourbillon Automatic Platinum Edition

Glashutte Original PANO PanoLunarTourbillon Automatic 40mm Platinum Limited Edition 2025

How Glashütte established the metric system in watchmaking

In the year marking the 180th anniversary of Glashütte watchmaking, German watchmaker Glashütte Original opens its new dial manufactory – the only one of its kind in the renowned watchmaking city.

As part of the celebrations, the tradition-rich manufactory presents a new PanoLunarTourbillon, an expression of its devotion to craftsmanship and tradition in Glashütte. The rose-coloured dial recalls the reddish hues of iron in the earth surrounding the watchmaking town of Glashütte.

This platinum timekeeper features characteristic complications in a Limited Edition of 50 pieces: Flying Tourbillon, moon phase and Panorama Date have each left their mark on the history of the manufactory. The asymmetric design of the Pano line lends the watch a distinctive aesthetic, uniquely representative of the modern face of Glashütte Original.

A sample of Glashütte DNA

The PanoLunarTourbillon is the most recent creation marking Glashütte Original’s 2025 anniversary year, and the dial’s rose-coloured “Eisenerz” (iron ore) hue is deeply symbolic. It recalls the unique colour of the earthen landscape surrounding the town of Glashütte

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The typical reddish hue results from oxidation of high concentrations of iron in the soil, and is indicative of the region’s wealth of mineral resources. For hundreds of years, long before watchmakers made their home here, mining was one of the most important industries in this part of Germany

One finds the famous red stone around every bend along the Müglitz, which flows close by the manufactory. A few hundred meters downriver lies the newly opened Glashütte Original dial manufactory, rising from the same red earth.

A complex dial, hand-crafted in the manufactory

The experience and wisdom gathered in 180 years of Glashütte watchmaking find expression in the PanoLunarTourbillon; consolidated savoir-faire is evident in every single component. In Glashütte itself, Glashütte Original is the only firm to have its own in-house dial making workshop.

The shimmering dial on the new PanoLunarTourbillon, with its nuanced iron-ore hue, draws on the dialmakers’ entire repertoire of craft knowledge and skills. The dial receives its reddish hue in the course of an elaborate process of galvanisation. Due to the crystalline structure of the surface, the shades of red vary, depending on the light and the viewer’s perspective, resulting in a lively play of colours.

The off-centre hour and minutes display offers a calm contrast on the left side. Its finely milled vinyl decorative finish sets this area apart, inevitably drawing the eye.

Three Glashütte specialties

The PanoLunarTourbillon’s large hour and minute display is flanked by three complications, each of which holds particular significance for the art of watchmaking in Glashütte. Beneath the time display the Flying Tourbillon turns on its axis once a minute; the small seconds hand, which is mounted on the tip of the tourbillon cage, follows the latter’s track. Invented in 1920 by the Glashütte master watchmaker Alfred Helwig, the Flying Tourbillon has long since made its way out into the world. Its monochromatic visuals lend this classic complication a modern touch. All of the components in the oscillation and escapement system appear in varying silver tones, which creates a bright focal point highlighting the delicate, seemingly weightless construction.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

A further local “specialty” can be found at 4 o’clock: The Panorama Date is the signature feature of many Glashütte Original models. White numerals on a blue ground are displayed, without a central separation bar, across two concentric discs mounted on the same plane. The curved moon phase display is positioned at 2 o’clock. Over the course of many years, Glashütte Original has perfected this popular complication, to the point where it has become a distinguishing feature of the brand. The splendid depiction of a miniaturised night sky with silver stars on a dark blue ground is also manufactured at the in-house dial workshop.

Harmonious asymmetry

Like all models in the Pano line, this new timekeeper is distinguished by the asymmetric layout of the dial. The arrangement of the displays is based on the Golden Ratio, whose off-center proportions lend the dial its exquisitely harmonious appearance. This allows the PanoLunarTourbillon to enhance classical elements with a touch of avant-garde within a characteristic Glashütte design language.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The rose-coloured dial is framed by a polished and satin-brushed platinum case with a diameter of 40mm. Complementing in colour the blued hands, printed lettering, indexes and backgrounds of the Panorama Date and moon phase displays, the watch is worn with either a blue Louisiana alligator leather or synthetic fabric strap, secured by a platinum folding clasp.

Custom mechanics

Tradition and innovation go hand in hand inside the PanoLunarTourbillon as well. Its handcrafted automatic movement boasts a silicon balance spring that remains unaffected by the magnetic fields of everyday life, and features a power reserve of up to 60 hours. Its elaborate decorative enhancements, easily admired through a sapphire crystal case back, reflect the grand traditions of Glashütte watchmaking: rhodium-coated plates with Glashütte stripe finish, the base plate’s perlage, the tin-polished tourbillon cage with bevelled edges, and the skeletonised rotor’s exquisitely milled track.

The new PanoLunarTourbillon celebrates the past and present of the tradition-rich Glashütte Original manufactory. Limited to 50 pieces, the watch will be available in Glashütte Original Boutiques and selected retailers worldwide from June, 2025

The colours of a never-ending summer
Two lively new versions of the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date

The seventh decade of the 20th century brought an unprecedented explosion of colour to fashion and design. The new versions of the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date take inspiration not just from the decade’s colourful palette, but from its unique celebration of life as well.

With the "Golden Bay" and "Ocean Breeze" editions, each limited to 100 pieces, Glashütte Original brings a touch of summer to the wrist every day. Irresistible Seventies style merges with the precise heartbeat of fine German watchmaking.

Free spirits and the call of far-away places

Paisley patterns, floral prints, batik colour gradients – the Seventies were crazy for colour. Loose clothing and embroidered tunics in vivid shades went into the backpack when people set out to discover the world.

And there was plenty to experience, whether on the road in a painted van, soaring over the oceans in a plane or day-dreaming at a local swimming hole.

The Glashütte Original team were inspired by the Seventies´ bright colours and longing for far-away places, and transformed their magic into two lively timepieces.

Of golden bays and gentle sea breezes

The strong colours of the Seventies appear with an international favourite of the Glashütte Original Vintage Collection: The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date. As the name suggests, the German watchmaker found inspiration in the distinct design language of Seventies shapes.

This year, two matt lacquered dial variants give this model a new look. “Golden Bay“ is a warm ochre tone evocative of far-flung beaches and sunny lagoons, while the light grey-blue “Ocean Breeze” conjures fresh, clear water and waves.

The dark shade of the two subdials, in stark contrast to the coloured background, is perfectly complemented by the black hands and display discs of the 12-hour counter and Panorama Date. The resulting vibrant contrast underscores the independent spirit of the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date – and that of the person wearing it.

Of rounded corners and a clear view

The streamlined case and gently rounded corners are the unmistakable signature of the Seventies line. The chronograph appears in a skilfully polished and satin-brushed 40 x 40 mm stainless steel case that fits every wrist.

Sapphire crystals on the front and back ensure optimal views of the dial and movement. The distinctive shape of the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date finds a perfect complement in two strap options: matt black rubber and cool stainless steel.

On Glashütte’s sense of rhythm and love of detail

Ticking inside this elegant chronograph is Glashütte Original’s own Calibre 37-02 movement with automatic winding, crafted, decorated and regulated by hand in the watchmaker’s own workshops.

The reliable driver of the hour, minute and small second displays, the Panorama Date and the flyback chronograph features up to 70 hours of power reserve.

Its filigree components are finely finished in the traditional manner of Glashütte watchmaking: with bevelled and polished edges, polished and blued screws, and with bridges, balance cock and a skeletonised rotor decorated with the famous Glashütte stripe finish.

Proud to be the Original. #PTBTO

Premiere for the Sixties Small Second

The 1960s were bursting with creative energy. People experimented with colours, shapes and sounds, creating original, timeless classics in the process. Once again, the designers at Glashütte Original have drawn inspiration from this decade and created a timepiece that captures the spirit of the Sixties and transports it into the present.

Fitted with a matt green alligator leather strap, the new Sixties Small Second celebrates the idea of timeless originality and lets the spotlight fall on the small seconds display.

The times are changing

The 1960s made a deep impression on our society. Their legacy in music, fashion and architecture can be seen every day, everywhere in the world.

Today they are all second nature to Glashütte Original. Creativity, originality and finding new paths – these values from the Sixties still inspire the watchmaker, today and every day. The new Sixties Small Second combines both worlds with style and precision.

A new arrival with character

The Sixties models have been an integral part of the Glashütte Original Vintage Collection for years. Whether as a three-hand model or with Panorama Date, as a chronograph or a colourful limited edition: these design classics have won fans around the world, who love their subtle retro look.

Now, for the first time, the Saxon manufactory presents this elegant timekeeper complete with a small second. In this new version, the fastest of the three hands has a stage of its own, thanks to a separate display at 6 o’clock.

Domed silver dial

This small second is set within the galvanic silver dial and decorated with a fine vinyl-type finish.

The hands are colour-matched to the 42-mm case in rose gold, as are the indexes and numerals, whose typeface references the 1960s

The right rhythm

Inside the watch is an intricate automatic movement, elaborately hand-crafted in the brand’s own workshops.

Glashutte Original – SeaQ Chronograph Blue Dials Automatic

Glashutte OriginalSpezialist SeaQ Chronograph Blue Dials Automatic 2022

 Write your own adventure!
The SeaQ Chronograph celebrates its premiere

Once again, the manufactory from the German watchmaking town of Glashütte presents the real thing – a genuine original in more ways than one. The new SeaQ Chronograph is the first diver’s watch from Glashütte Original to be equipped with a chronograph movement.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The new model features a handmade automatic movement designed to accompany contemporary adventurers wherever they go – a challenge the designers at Glashütte Original took on with great sensitivity and creativity. The result? A modern mechanical movement full of originality.

The challenge

In developing the new chronograph, Glashütte Original based the design concept on four considerations: how can it be made as accurate, robust, easy to use and aesthetically pleasing as possible? For the new SeaQ Chronograph, the bar was set exceptionally high.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The objective was to develop a flyback chronograph that handles short-term measurement reliably and to combine it with a watch that meets the rigorous requirements of the ISO and DIN standards for diver’s watches.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The stakes could not be higher: to ensure that a handmade, finely crafted mechanism was ready – not just for everyday use, but for extreme conditions.

Short-term measurement meets diver’s watch

A diver’s life may well depend on their watch functioning properly. For this reason, the watches in the SeaQ family are subjected to rigorous testing to ensure they meet the ISO 6425 and DIN 8306 standards.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

They must withstand extreme temperature changes, resist saltwater corrosion, ensure optimal legibility in the dark and have a unidirectional rotating bezel with a scale allowing the diver to determine how much time remains for the dive.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

For the water resistance test, Glashütte Original exceeded the standard and tested the SeaQ up to a pressure of 30 bar (300 meters). The watchmaker also set its own high standards for the chronograph: the watch had to have a column wheel switch and a flyback mechanism. The designers took these and many other aspects into account as they developed the SeaQ Chronograph.

Under the loupe: a tiny turn for greater shock resistance

One of the requirements for diver’s watches: shock resistance from a height of one meter. Apparently straightforward, it’s a nightmare for everyone who owns a mechanical watch – in reality a situation one would avoid at all costs.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The watchmakers at Glashütte Original examined this aspect closely, using a special device under laboratory conditions. In particular, the key point – if the watch is dropped – is to ensure that the dial does not buckle or warp on impact, which could interfere with, or even block, the hands.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

As a result, the designers placed a hollow hexagonal socket screw, made of stainless steel, in the centre of the dial. It is placed from above over the hand shafts, thus fixing the dial to the plate before the hands are mounted.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Thanks to this small but very effective construction detail, the dial remains securely in place, even in the event of a shock.

Under the loupe: even more space for rate precision

Both resistance and rate precision are of fundamental importance for the functional reliability of a mechanical watch. This also involves the effort to achieve optimally uniform – isochronous – oscillation of the balance, in every position and even while the chronograph is running.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

For this reason, Glashütte Original’s designers chose to intervene directly in the architecture of the SeaQ Chronograph movement. The balance was given more space, allowing it to oscillate unhindered and thus gain a few degrees of valuable amplitude. They created space to move freely – for the watch and the person wearing it.

Under the loupe: a versatile crown offers even greater ease of use

The SeaQ Chronograph’s short-term measurement is a world of its own. It features a flyback function, i.e. reset and restart of the stop hand on the fly, central stop-seconds, and a 30- minute counter at 3 o’clock; all are operated using the two pushers on the edge of the case. In addition, Glashütte Original’s signature Panorama Date is found just above 6 o’clock.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

All of these displays are easily set via the crown: in position 1, the automatic movement is wound, in position 2 the date can be corrected, and in position 3, the time can be set while the second stop is activated.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This design made it possible to do without a separate date corrector on the side of the case, thus enhancing the water resistance of the watch.

A contemporary chronograph movement

The automatic movement Calibre 37-23 combines maximum resistance, precision and userfriendliness with a running time of over 70 hours. The silicon balance spring offers enhanced resistance to the influence of magnetic fields, for example, and thanks to its steady oscillation, greater rate precision.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The entire movement is elaborately decorated by hand with great skill and sensitivity, and can be admired through its sapphire crystal case back – by no means a given with a diver’s watch.

A sporty and elegant companion for any and all adventures

The debut model of the SeaQ Chronograph is dressed in dark blue, from the handmade dial to the unidirectional rotating bezel with ceramic inlay. The hour, minute and stop-seconds hands are coated with highly luminous Super-LumiNova®, as are the indexes and the triangle symbol on the bezel.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO  The stainless steel case, 43.2 mm in diameter, is fitted front and back with sapphire crystals, and the fluted screw-down crown has a fine wave decoration. Four different straps are available: a dark blue rubber strap, a stainless steel link bracelet, and two synthetic fabric straps made from recycled fishnets, in grey or blu

A special premiere

For the Glashütte Original team, the development of the new SeaQ Chronograph turned into a multi-year voyage of discovery. Now the watch is ready to accompany its owners from all over the world on their own uniquely individual adventures.

The new SeaQ Chronograph is available as of October 2022 from all Glashütte Original Boutiques and selected retailers worldwide.
