Its original dial stands out with a unique vertical gradient. Transitioning from black to green, from top to bottom, it evokes a night sky illuminated by the glow of the Northern Lights.

Powered by an automatic movement and water-resistant to 100 meters, the new BR-03 GMT Green Lum is available as a limited edition of only 500 pieces.

Green luminescence as a signature

Perfectly legible in all circumstances, the new BR-03 Green Lum stands out in the dark with its green hue and intense afterglow. The numerals, hour markers and hands are coated with pale green Super-LumiNova® C3, while the 24-hour scale on the bidirectional rotating bezel in polished ceramic is also photoluminescent.

More than just a stylistic feature, this property is above all afunctional advantage, allowing the time to be read in the dark. This highly useful characteristic is particularly valued by pilots and divers.

Through its research into the development of professional instrument watches, Bell & Ross has taken a keen interest in photoluminescence and in the materials that provide the most optimal performance. Developed in the 1990s, Super-LumiNova® is a strontium aluminate-based pigment enhanced with rare earth elements to produce its luminous effect.

The particularly high-performance C3 variant contains zinc sulphide and copper, which gives it its green color, and emits a long-lasting glow for approximately 10 hours after exposure to light. For many years, through numerous creations, Bell & Ross has also made photoluminescence a distinctive style signature.

The GMT function for travelers

The BR-03 GMT Green Lum simultaneously displays the time in two different time zones. Local time is read on a 12-hour scale printed on the dial, while the destination time is indicated by a dedicated hand with a large triangular tip, pointing to a 24-hour scale engraved on the bezel.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Pilots and frequent travelers know that a watch like this can also display a third time zone by using the rotating bezel. Favored by airline pilots and globetrotters, the GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) function was born in the 1950s with the rise of international air travel.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

More precisely, it emerged in 1953, when the American airline Pan American World Airways commissioned a watch capable of displaying two time zones, one of which was set to the Greenwich meridian in London — the international reference for longitude calculations since 1884 and therefore the basis for all time zones.

As with all its instrument watches, Bell & Ross designs its GMT timepieces with absolute priority given to ease of adjustment and readability.

BR 03-51 GMT Titanium

In 2007, the BR 03-51 GMT Titanium set the tone. Since then, the Franco-Swiss watchmaker has continued to reinterpret this function through creations with a strong and distinctive design identity. The BR-03 GMT Compass, unveiled last year, is a perfect example.

Thanks to its GMT indication, it could also be used as a compass. With the new BR-03 GMT Green Lum, Bell & Ross opens a new chapter. The functionality now reveals its full potential in the dark, offering optimal readability at any time.

From the cockpit to the wrist

The BR-03 line holds a central and essential place in Bell & Ross collections, as it perfectly embodies the brand’s philosophy: creating watches that bring the efficiency and aesthetics of aircraft dashboard instruments to the wrist. Introduced in 2005, this collection is distinguished by an instantly recognizable design identity built around the concept of the “circle within the square”.

Its square case, enhanced by a round bezel secured with four visible screws, has become Bell & Ross’ visual signature. Robust by design, these watches are shock-resistant and waterresistant up to 100 meters. As a structural element, the four screws positioned at the corners of the case have become one of the brand’s most recognizable graphic signatures.

The BR-03 GMT Green Lum features a 42 mm wide and 11.3 mm thick steel case, combining polished and satin-finished surfaces, and is equipped with a bidirectional rotating bezel graduated over 24 hours. The bezel insert is made of polished black ceramic, with markings treated with green-emission Super-LumiNova® C3.

Fitted either with a black rubber strap secured by a polished and satin-finished steel pin buckle, or with an ultra-resistant black synthetic fabric strap, this efficient timepiece, powered by the automatic BR-CAL.303 caliber offering 54 hours of power reserve, embraces its bold personality.

The dial adopts the aviation-inspired hands of the iconic BR-03 Auto for the hour and minute indications. The black seconds hand features an aircraft wing-shaped cross at its tip, another defining marker of Bell & Ross identity.

Bell & Ross – INSTRUMENTS BR-03 Helipad Black Ceramic Edition

THE ON-BOARD INSTRUMENT FOR THE WRIST: TIME TAKES FLIGHT

The history of Bell & Ross is akin to a quest for the essential, where every second is dictated by absolute precision. Since its founding in 1994 under the visionary leadership of Carlos Rosillo and Bruno Belamich, the brand has established itself as an essential benchmark in the world of professional watchmaking.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This human and technical adventure was born from a shared fascination with aeronautical instrumentation, where legibility is not an aesthetic luxury but a vital necessity. Drawing on a dual Franco-Swiss culture, the house has elevated functionality to the level of art, following the fundamental principle that function must always create form.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This philosophy led Bell & Ross to explore aircraft cockpits to extract measurement tools capable of defying the most hostile environments. In 2005, this trajectory reached a pinnacle with the launch of the BR-01, a timepiece that revolutionized watch design codes by transposing a cockpit clock directly to the wrist.

The "circle within a square" concept, held by four screws in the corners, became the brand's indelible visual signature, laying the groundwork for the BR-03 collection, which continues to evolve today while preserving its genetic heritage.

THE FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS SAGA: A LINEAGE OF EXCELLENCE

At the heart of this aeronautical identity, the Flight Instruments collection holds a place of honor, functioning as a true laboratory of high precision where the house’s engineers and designers constantly push the boundaries of traditional display.

This exceptional lineage has seen the birth of timepieces that are now part of contemporary watchmaking legend. We recall the launch of the Radar and Red Radar, which reinvented time-telling via rotating discs evoking the sweep of an air traffic control radar screen. Then came the Altimeter, which integrated the markings of a barometric altimeter, and the HUD, inspired by the Head-Up Display technology found in modern fighter jets.

More recently, the BR-03 GMT Compass and the BR-03 Gyrocompass continued this exploration of navigation instruments, transforming complex tools into sleek, functional design objects.

It is within this prestigious wake that the new BR-03 Helipad follows—a piece that does not merely extend a collection but introduces an unprecedented narrative and immersive dimension to the brand's history.

A SPECTACULAR VISUAL ANALOGY

The genesis of the BR-03 Helipad is based on a striking visual analogy that struck Bell & Ross designers during their research into new displays. Observing the continuous circular motion of a seconds hand at the center of a dial, the evidence emerged as a technical revelation: this steady rotation irresistibly recalls that of helicopter blades.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

From this intuition, the brand designed a watch that transforms the dial into a spectacular, almost cinematic stage. The BR-03 Helipad recreates the image of an aircraft in a stationary hover just above its landing base.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This approach allows a shift from a classic display to a truly immersive visual experience, placing the timepiece on the frontier between a pure instrument-watch and the illusion of an advanced horological complication.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

For the observer, time is no longer read statically but watched as a constant mechanical ballet, paying tribute to the power and grace of rotary-wing aircraft. Behind this bold staging lies precision engineering that meets the manufacture’s highest reliability standards. To animate this flight scene, Bell & Ross creatively adapted a three-hand automatic movement, the BR-CAL.327 calibre, to bring each element of the dial to life.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The hour indication is entrusted to a black rotating disc representing the helipad, whose yellow photoluminescent index ensures optimal clarity against the outer scale. The minutes are carried by the fuselage of the helicopter itself, with its nose serving as a precise marker for reading.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Finally, the seconds hand is replaced by the helicopter blades, which spin tirelessly at the center of the watch, materializing the passage of seconds with fascinating dynamism. This multi-level functional animation offers exceptional depth to the dial, ensuring time reading remains intuitive and efficient despite the design's apparent complexity.

THE BR-03 ICON: A CASE BUILT FOR ACTION

To house this visual feat, the brand chose the iconic case of the BR-03 range in its contemporary 41mm version. This size, more versatile than the original BR-01, offers a perfect balance between wearing comfort and a commanding wrist presence.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The choice of micro-blasted black ceramic for the case is no coincidence; this technical material is favored in the aerospace industry for its exceptional lightness and phenomenal scratch resistance. Its matte finish gives the watch a stealthy, technical allure, reinforcing its identity as an onboard instrument. With a controlled thickness of 10.60mm and water resistance guaranteed to 100 meters, the BR-03 Helipad stands as a robust tool, capable of accompanying its wearer in all situations, from the most intense missions to daily city life.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective treatment, ensures total transparency so as not to miss a moment of the spectacle playing out on the dial. Nighttime legibility is another fundamental pillar of this creation, faithful to the brand's requirements for its professional watches. Bell & Ross has extensively used Super-LumiNova® X2 material with green emission on the yellow areas of the dial and the main indexes. This choice guarantees striking contrast and perfect legibility in total darkness, directly evoking the nighttime lighting of instruments in a rescue helicopter cockpit.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This attention to chromatic detail underlines the importance of aviation safety codes, where yellow is the color of alert and visibility par excellence. By integrating these codes into the heart of the watch, the brand highlights its unbreakable link with the world of rescuers and extreme pilots.

DESIGN AND VERSATILITY: THE CODES OF AIR RESCUE

To offer total versatility, the BR-03 Helipad comes with two interchangeable straps that allow its style to vary according to mood or environment. The first strap, made of bright yellow rubber, is a direct nod to air rescue codes and gives the watch a resolutely sporty and modern look.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The second, made of ultra-resistant black synthetic fabric, aligns more with a military and technical aesthetic, emphasizing the object's sobriety and robustness. The micro-blasted steel pin buckle with a matte black PVD treatment completes the set with perfect aesthetic consistency, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit. Every component of the watch has been designed to integrate harmoniously into a global design where nothing is left to chance.

The BR-03 Helipad brilliantly illustrates Bell & Ross's ability to constantly reinvent its own heritage without ever denying its origins. By transforming a simple automatic movement into a captivating aerial animation, the house proves that watchmaking can be both a highly technical instrument and a medium for poetic storytelling. This edition, limited to just 500 pieces, is intended for those who see a watch as much more than a simple accessory, but as a tangible link to the world of aviation and human adventure.

With this new release, Bell & Ross confirms its position as a leader in watches with character, capable of transforming every glance at the wrist into a moment of takeoff toward new horizons.

The BR-03 Helipad is not just a tribute to rescue helicopters; it is the very embodiment of the spirit of conquest that has driven the manufacture since its earliest days, reminding us that for Bell & Ross, the sky is not a limit, but an eternal playground.
