ENGINEERING THE IMPOSSIBLE:
NAVITIMER B01 CHRONOGRAPH 43 TRIBUTE TO CONCORDE

With its deep-rooted influence in the history of aviation, the Navitimer has links to some of the most legendary planes ever built. Now, a new limited edition pays tribute to the aircraft of all aircraft, the ultimate expression of performance: the Concorde.

For over 70 years, the Navitimer has taken on many roles, from essential pilots’ tool to cultural icon. This year, Navitimer Stories will bring these chapters to light across aviation, lifestyle, and technical savoir faire, showing why this remarkable timepiece remains as relevant today as ever.

Created at the height of the jet age, a period of rapid aeronautical innovation, the Concorde redefined what was possible in the sky, cutting trans-Atlantic flight times in half at twice the speed of sound and lifting passengers high enough to glimpse the curve of the Earth.

Nicknamed “the White Bird” for its distinctive shape, the Concorde flew higher and faster than any commercial aircraft before or since. Cruising at 60,000 feet, it offered it's roughly 100 passengers a rare view of the stratosphere’s deep blue. The supersonic aircraft was a symbol of a time when the world dreamed bigger.

That notion returns in the new Navitimer Tribute to Concorde. Breitling’s iconic pilot’s chronograph, originally created as a tool for civil aviation, meets one of the sky’s most daring achievements. The result merges two: the watch born during the golden age of air travel, and the aircraft that pushed commercial flight into the future. A modern evolution of Breitling’s icon, it is designed with the Navitimer’s classic hallmarks and charged with the energy of supersonic travel.

Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling, says, “Flying with the Concorde was like nothing else. Today, travel is a necessary step to reach a destination, but a Concorde flight was an experience in itself. It’s only natural that we pay homage to the 50th anniversary of its first flight with our iconic Navitimer.”

The Concorde’s pioneering spirit is also what defined the Navitimer, a watch that regularly appears on collectors’ lists as one of the greatest of all time. The Navitimer was designed in 1952 for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Known as the first wristwatch flight computer, its patented circular slide rule could perform crucial onboard calculations.

And while it began as a practical tool-watch for pilots, its influence went far beyond aviation, becoming the first Swiss wristwatch in space with astronaut Scott Carpenter before finding its way onto the wrists of Formula 1 legends Graham Hill and Jim Clark, and musicians Serge Gainsbourg and Miles Davis, among other cultural icons. Now, over 70 years later, it blends heritage and technical expertise with modern innovation and style.

TRIBUTE TO 50 YEARS SINCE TAKE OFF

The Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Tribute to Concorde is expressed through a blue dial in the shade of the stratosphere as seen from the plane, paired with a matching alligator strap. Contrasting white subdials and an inner slide rule reference Concorde’s nickname, the White Bird.

Limited to 593 pieces, it references the Olympus 593 turbojet engines that powered the aircraft. The caseback is engraved with “One of 593,” “Tribute to Concorde,” “Jetliner,” and Mach 2,” the aircraft’s cruising speed beyond the sound barrier.

The Navitimer Tribute to Concorde brings together two aviation legends. Fifty years after the Concorde’s first flight, it honors an aircraft that redefined what was possible and a belief that the future belongs to those who dream bigger.

BREITLING UNVEILS THE NAVITIMER PERPETUAL
CALENDAR CHRONOGRAPH
IN A HIGH-ALTITUDE DUO

Breitling introduces two new perpetual-calendar chronographs that represent the Navitimer at its highest expression. The Navitimer B19 duo is inspired by the extreme altitudes the iconic pilot’s chronograph has mastered.

Created in 1952 for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), the Navitimer united a chronograph with Breitling’s patented circular slide rule, allowing aviators to perform flight calculations directly from their wrist. The quintessential pilots’ watch, it soon proved itself across every altitude—worn by supersonic pilots at the edge of space and by astronauts from the earliest days of human spaceflight.

Now presented in its highest expression of complexity and materials, Breitling introduces the Navitimer B19 as two exceptional timepieces powered by the brand’s manufacture B19 perpetual-calendar chronograph movement. Rendered in steel and platinum or full platinum and finished in altitude-inspired colorways, they celebrate the vertical journey of Breitling’s icon.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

“At Breitling, we have always pushed limits, not only through our iconic designs, but also by engineering exceptional movements that power our watches.” says Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling. “The Navitimer B19 delivers on both sides.”

A CENTURY IN MOTION: THE CALIBER B19

At the heart of this high-altitude duo is the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B19, first introduced in 2024 to mark the brand’s 140th anniversary. It represents a major technical milestone, combining Breitling’s chronograph exper tise with a true perpetual calendar, one that automatically accounts for leap years and varying month lengths, and will not require a major manual correction for a century. The moonphase adds a final celestial link, reinforcing the Navitimer’s original purpose as an instrument made for the sky.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Technically, the Navitimer B19 has set a new benchmark for Breitling, a feat that earned it a 2025 Temporis Award. It is an automatic perpetual calendar chronograph with a 96-hour power reserve.

A one-step correction system via the crown allows all calendar indications to be advanced together, while two discreet dimple-style pushers at 8 and 10 o’clock enable individual adjustments. Winding is handled by a solid 18k red-gold rotor, visible through the sapphire caseback, and the movement is COSC-certified as a chronometer for unwavering precision.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

It is, quite simply, the most advanced movement ever housed in a Navitimer and currently the only core-catalog automatic perpetual-calendar chronograph on the market.

ALTITUDE AS COLOR, MATERIAL, AND MOOD

The timepieces translate the Navitimer’s story in the air universe into two powerful, tangible expressions. Each model channels a different altitude. A 75-piece limited edition in full platinum features a deep blue lacquered dial inspired by the stratosphere at high cruising altitudes, where the atmosphere thins, the sky deepens, and the Earth’s curvature becomes visible. The full platinum case is paired with a black outer slide rule and a contrasting white inner scale, drawing the eye toward the dial’s celestial center. It is fitted with a matching navy-blue alligator strap with a folding clasp.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The second execution, in stainless steel with a platinum bezel, is defined by its anthracite dial, reflecting the stillness and depth of space. It features the same high-contrast slide rule configuration and refined dial architecture and is delivered on a brown alligator strap or seven-row steel bracelet, underscoring its dramatic, cosmic tone.

Both models share a series of refined design signatures. Their dials provide depth and sheen, while raised metal rings around the subdials introduce a new three-dimensional architecture.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The moonphase disc at 12 o’clock draws the eye with its detail, and each case is finished with Breitling’s signature knurled bezel. Each dial becomes a miniature universe: technical, celestial, and instantly recognizable as a Navitimer.

AN ICON, STILL IN FLIGHT

The Navitimer was born from professional demand. With its signature slide rule, it became an essential cockpit tool during the golden age of civil aviation.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Over time, its distinctive look moved beyond the flight deck, appearing on the wrists of figures as varied as Miles Davis, Serge Gainsbourg, and Formula 1 legends Graham Hill and Jim Clark, and even into space with astronaut Scott Carpenter, while remaining faithful to its original form.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

With this pair of exceptional watches, Breitling unites heritage, high complication, and modern design in a way only the Navitimer can. They are shaped by civil aviation, inspired by the skies above, and engineered to measure time for generations.

Two names born from a fascination with speed: one measured it, the other mastered it. For over a century, their stories have moved in parallel. Now, Breitling joins Aston Martin and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team in a global partnership as Official Watch Partner.

The collaboration spans the full Aston Martin universe, from the high-performance vehicles handcrafted in Gaydon and St Athan to the team’s pursuit of glory in Formula 1®.

Aston Martin builds cars that are as much about presence as performance,” says Georges Kern, CEO of Breitling. “We share that same heritage of iconic design: every line, finish, and proportion has purpose. Nothing is left to chance.”

Our pursuit of a World Championship demands partners who match our ambition.” says Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team. “Today, we’re proud to welcome Breitling to the team. Beyond a shared heritage, we are united by values that drive everything we do. The precision, craftmanship and engineering excellence we pursue at Aston Martin Aramco are lived and breathed by Breitling. We look forward to working together.”

Two obsessions. One pursuit: speed.

The parallels between the two brands go back to the earliest days of the automobile. In 1907, Leon Breitling introduced the Vitesse. French for “speed,” it was the first chronograph to measure speeds up to 250 miles or kilometers per hour.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The device was so precise it was adopted by Swiss police to issue the first speeding tickets. A few years later in England, Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford were testing their hand-built vehicle in a defining race up a steep, chalky slope called Aston Hill. The car won, and the name endured.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

In 1959, Aston Martin made its debut in Formula 1®. That same era saw drivers Graham Hill and Jim Clark—both aircraft pilots as well as F1® competitors—wearing Breitling Navitimers. Developed in 1952 as a wrist-worn cockpit instrument for aviators, the chronograph’s circular slide rule let pilots calculate speed, time intervals, and fuel consumption. Hill and Clark carried those functions from the sky to the circuit, turning the Navitimer into a trackside essential.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

By the 1960s, both marques had become symbols of style and modern engineering. Willy Breitling, the founder’s grandson, shook off the austerity of postwar watchmaking with another watch, the Top Time, a chronograph made for a new generation of speed- and style-seekers.

When it appeared on Sean Connery’s wrist in Thunderball (1965) as the first Q-modified gadget watch in the James Bond franchise, it became an emblem of the era. Aston Martin ’s iconic DB5, which made its debut in Goldfinger (1964) and returned in Thunderball, did the same on four wheels. Appearing together in the same film, they captured the cultural fascination with Bond’s world, where sophistication met speed and high-tech intrigue.

Aston Martin and Breitling have crossed paths at key moments in design and culture,” says Adrian Hallmark, Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin. “The partnership is a perfect showcase of excellence, design mastery and performance, something that is integral to everything that Aston Martin puts its name to.”
