ANGELUS – Flying Tourbillon Titanium Blue Skeleton Edition

ANGELUSTOURBILLON Flying Tourbillon Titanium Blue Skeleton Edition 2025

Angelus introduces a new collection that plays with the tension between the circle and openworking. Flying Tourbillon Titanium adopts the architecture of the house’s contemporary case, consisting of a carbon composite container surrounded by a titanium case middle with a notched bezel. Inside, Angelus has installed a new hand-wound movement, the A-310 calibre, equipped with a flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock.

Large Arabic numerals float between the sapphire crystal and the PVD-treated bridges, adding rhythm and lightness to Flying Tourbillon Titanium. The inaugural version is clad in blue, from the movement to the flange and the interchangeable alligator-leather and rubber straps.

Flying Tourbillon Titanium marks the second instalment of Angelus’ contemporary series. Two years after the launch of Chronodate, the brand has fitted its now famous and instantly recognisable titanium case with a flying tourbillon calibre. This contemporary vision can be seen in all the aesthetic elements of this 42.5 mm diameter timepiece.

There is dynamism in the Arabic numerals suspended between the flange and the movement. Dynamism in the interplay between solids and voids. Dynamism in the openings in the movement that allow light to enter. Dynamism in the different levels and depths. And there is dynamism in the way the calibre is structured around juxtaposed circles. It has all been given a blue PVD treatment for this inaugural edition.

Dynamic hues

The design of Flying Tourbillon Titanium is underpinned by the contrast between the coloured bridges, flange and minute circle, on the one hand, and the generous use of white Super-LumiNova on the imposing Arabic numerals, on the other. The overall effect enhances the rhodium plating of the movement’s functional parts.

The openworked three-armed wheels, a signature of Angelus watches, each interlock and lead to the most dynamic element: the flying tourbillon. Its carriage bridge is angled at 160 degrees, creating an asymmetry that further emphasises the technical rhythm of Flying Tourbillon Titanium.

Dynamic layers

The case is made up of two parts. The first – a lightweight, rigid carbon composite container – protects the movement. The second is formed of six main titanium elements that surround the container and keep it in place.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The openworked case middle widens towards the crown, which bears the Angelus logo. The sapphire crystal is surrounded by a 12-notched bezel, while the faceted lugs hold the interchangeable bracelet system in place. Both the single-row titanium bracelet and matte blue alligator leather strap versions of Flying Tourbillon Titanium come with an additional blue rubber strap.

Dynamic gear train

This modular construction houses an updated version of Angelus’ historical A-300 calibre.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The A-310 calibre is built around a series of circles – its mainplate and bridges – and has an openworked structure.  The small seconds at 9 o’clock visually balances the large barrel situated between 12 and 1 o’clock and the flying tourbillon located at 6 o’clock.

With a comfortable power reserve of 60 hours, the A-310 hand-wound calibre provides Flying Tourbillon Titanium with a mechanism worthy of its aesthetic ambitions and that measures up to Angelus’ history.

ANGELUS – Instrument de Vitesse Chronograph Edition

 Angelus
Instrument de Vitesse
60 Seconds Flat

Instrument de Vitesse, a new opus in the La Fabrique collection, revives the golden age of timed races. This mono-pusher chronograph seems to have been plucked from the dashboard of a vintage GT car.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

It is equipped with a single timing hand – the centre seconds hand – and can time a maximum of one minute. With its sleek and refined retro sports look, Instrument de Vitesse is intended for enthusiasts of watchmaking history and culture.

Housed in a 39-mm steel case, its 4.20 mm manually wound Manufacture calibre ensures that the finished timepiece is less than 10 mm thick. Instrument de Vitesse is available with an ivory-white or ebony-black dial in two limited series of 25 timepieces each.

Appearances can sometimes be deceptive. At first glance, Instrument de Vitesse does not appear to be a classic chronograph. With its three central hands, it looks like a watch... with three hands, but the tachymeter scale running around the outer edge of the dial reveals its chronometric function.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

For this is a chronograph presented in its purest expression, dedicated to timing short bursts – a measuring instrument designed to take average speed readings over a maximum of 60 seconds.

This, in turn, casts new light on the crown, which also acts as the chronograph’s single push-piece to set the slender centre seconds hand in motion.

Historical

Dedicated to the renaissance and reinterpretation of classic timepieces from Angelus’ past, the La Fabrique collection unveils its second model, following in the footsteps of the Chronographe Médical. Once again, the house draws on its aesthetic heritage and showcases historical design elements and affinities.

As a result, Angelus has designed a chronograph that seems to belong on the dashboard of a beautiful English or Italian vintage car, with the roar of a V12 engine as its soundscape.

Graphic

Released in two series of 25 timepieces, Instrument de Vitesse is available with a steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter and just 9.27 mm thick. It features a domed dial divided into two functional zones.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The peripheral indications are dedicated to the tachymeter scale, graduated from 60 to 500 with a base metric of 1,000 (typically one kilometre). The more central indications, meanwhile, are designed to display the time, with a finely graduated minutes circle.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

In both cases, the typography – specially chosen for the La Fabrique collection – is clear, contrasting and elegant.

Contrasting

Instrument de Vitesse is available in two versions. he first, on a caramel calfskin strap, features an ebony-black dial with rhodium-plated applied Arabic numerals that stand out with their striking white hue. The second version is presented on a midnight-blue nubuck strap.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Its ivory-white dial is punctuated with applied Arabic numerals outlined in black to create an incredible three-dimensional effect.

The hour and minute hands, together with the applied numerals, are coated with luminescent material.

Mechanics

Inside, Angelus operates its own A5000 chronograph movement. With this new variant, this calibre – the technical stalwart of La Fabrique – once again demonstrates its adaptability.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Presented in this manually wound version without totalisers, it offers a reduced thickness of just 4.20 mm. Set to a frequency of 3 Hz, it functions by way of a column wheel and horizontal clutch in the pure chronograph tradition.

ANGELUS – Chronodate Gold x Chateau Angelus Only Watch 2023

ANGELUSChronodate Gold x Château Angelus Chronograph Only Watch 2023

A rare blend

To mark its first appearance at Only Watch, Angelus is playing on its name with one of the greatest wines from the Bordeaux terroir: Château Angelus. Their shared name presents more than just an opportunity, because passion, collection, perpetuating and patience are at work in the creation of both a watch and a great wine.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The dial of the Chronodate Gold x Château Angelus one-off piece is made from freeze-dried lees from the 2022 vintage. The lot to be auctioned to raise funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research also includes a prestigious “Impériale” from the 2012 vintage and a few bottles of the Château's very rare Grand Vin Blanc.

Angelus Grand Vin Blanc 2020

Château Angelus is one of the most respected estates in the Bordeaux terroir. Owned by the de Boüard de Laforest family for eight generations, the estate is run by Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, with whom Angelus has worked on a unique blend, the first of its kind in watchmaking: the Chronodate Gold x Château Angelus one-off piece.

Chiming the same tune

When Angelus met Angelus, two spirits converged around a collaboration. The first is a Swiss house that perpetuates an ancient tradition of fine mechanical watchmaking. The second is the de Boüard de Laforest family, who have been winegrowers, winemakers, farmers and livestock breeders in Saint-Émilion since 1782.

Above and beyond perpetuating tradition, watchmaking and wine share geographic ties that define them. The terroirs of Bordeaux express themselves through a whole spectrum of aromas depending on their exposure, soil, growing method, fermentation style and maturation. Swiss watches draw on a limited and restrictive geographic area, giving rise to traditional processes that ensure horological excellence.

A heady combination

Chronodate Gold x Château Angelus is the fruit of a delicate blend. Its dial has been made from freeze-dried lees from the 2022 vintage, named “Le Majestueux” (the majestic). This powdered wine is used as is, delicately deposited on the base of the dial. These lees alone give the piece all its texture and colour. At 6 o’clock, there is a red gold applique bearing a faithful engraving of the Château’s bell.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Angelus and Angelus have joined forces for the worthy cause of Only Watch to offer a full, hedonistic experience combining elements of watchmaking, winegrowing, gastronomy and winemaking. Chronodate Gold x Château Angelus will be presented alongside “Impériale” from the 2012 vintage. Its black capsule bearing the de Boüard de Laforest family coat of arms, the 2012 bottle has seen its traditional paper label replaced with an embossed 21.7-carat gold print showcasing the bell, Angelus’ emblem.

Three bottles of the Grand Vin Blanc, which has never been released for sale and only gifted on rare occasions, will also be included in this lot, along with an invitation to the Château in Saint-Émilion.

Chronograph aesthetics

A chronograph movement was chosen as a reference to the brand’s historical roots, since Angelus was a first-rate manufacturer of these pieces from the late 1930s onwards. Inside Chronodate Gold x Château Angelus is the A- 500 in-house calibre. Its design features the small seconds at 9 o’clock and a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock. A hand-based date display also sweeps around the dial and recalls the first Chronodate model from 1942.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Operating at a rate of 4 Hz, the calibre incorporates a column wheel. The self-winding system is powered by an A-shaped oscillating weight on top of a star, which is also reminiscent of a bell, the symbol of Château Angelus. There was a time when the bells of belfries and church towers ‘sounded the angelus’. These invitations to contemplation rang out at 7 o’clock in the morning, noon and 7 o’clock in the evening, and punctuated daily life in eras and places where signalling the time was a public and collective phenomenon.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Angelus
and Château Angelus are therefore both connected to the measurement of time; but watches and wine are about more than the hours – they are a human affair.

Angelus – Gold & Carbon Flying Tourbillon Edition

ANGELUS FLYING TOURBILLON Red Gold & Carbon Gold Bridges Limited Edition 2022

Gold & Carbon Flying Tourbillon
Gold bridges

In addition to its technicality, the Gold & Carbon Flying Tourbillon presents precious materials and finishes. A sports watch with a flying tourbillon, this limited edition of 18 pieces is housed within a sharp new 42.5 mm diameter case in carbon composite and red gold.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The A-250 calibre gives it a three-dimensional skeletonised look with its array of bridges in relief. Their graphic arrangement is much like the horological performance of this Angelus tourbillon: simply exceptional.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The Gold & Carbon Flying Tourbillon leads a new generation of Angelus cases. Its sleek and dynamic lines are befitting of the extreme technicality of this supremely graphic timepiece.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The red gold crown with wide notches has a rubber insert for improved grip and is protected by an asymmetrical guard projecting from the lugs. The crenellated bezel presents Angelus’ signature slight angular grooves.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Meanwhile, the A-250 skeletonised flying tourbillon calibre is surrounded by an ultra-rigid and ultralight carbon composite container. It is held within an 18K 5N red gold case middle, which reveals another kind of skeletonisation and serves as an openworked vehicle for an openworked movement.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTOT

o complete the overall effect, the Gold & Carbon Flying Tourbilloncomes with a black ballistic-style rubber strap, featuring an interchangeable system and a red gold and titanium folding clasp.

Contrast

The bridges of the Gold & Carbon Flying Tourbillon form its face. In the absence of a dial, these components play an expressive role in any skeleton movement.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

And since the main plate of the A-250 calibre is made from woven carbon composite, it is black, accentuating the contrasting 18K red gold bridges. Their volume is also emphasised by their placement above the carbon, arranged in pivotal positions on a higher level.

Relief

The bridges are hollowed out, as are the arms of the wheels. The aim of this skeletonisation is to reduce the physical weight of the piece and to lighten the aesthetic impression. After being pared down, these miniature sculptures are chamfered by hand along all their edges.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Their flat surface, measuring less than half a millimetre across, then undergoes careful horizontal satin-brushing to give a matte finish. To put the final flourish on these bridges, Angelus has attached them to the main plate using Angelus screws with a proprietary head.

Depth

While the Gold & Carbon Flying Tourbillon has no dial, it does have a flange. This component, which marks the transition between bezel and watch interior, is finished with a matte black PVD treatment.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

It is then graduated with sets of five increments, separated by three-dimensional white gold hour-markers filled with a luminescent substance. Since this flange is placed level with the bezel, it creates a sunken effect that accentuates the feeling of depth in the A-250 calibre.

Suspension

The star of this Angelus’ multilevel display is the tourbillon. It is situated at 6 o’clock, next to a bridge that does not hold it in place and instead supports the first wheel in the gear train. The tourbillon is only fixed in place from below, making it a flying tourbillon.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTOIt is attached directly to the carbon main plate, which is pierced in this spot to give a transparent effect, accentuating the sense of levitation and highlighting the tourbillon’s rotation.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Meanwhile, the balance oscillating within it also has a pared-down construction. Instead of being a ring like most balances, it is a cut, non-circular flywheel. Lighter and more efficient in terms of drag, it further enhances the innate timekeeping performance of an Angelus tourbillon.

Spectacular display

The workings are housed within a vast sapphire crystal glass box.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This transparent component is angled – almost vertically where it touches the bezel – to provide a large, flat surface for the Gold & Carbon Flying Tourbillon’s spectacular display: ethereal, technical, graphic, and very Angelus.
