REDENTORE LEVIUS, THE WEIGHT OF LIGHTNESS

Grade 5 titanium, the Made in Italy hand-wound V5000 calibre and a guilloché dial entirely hand-engraved on an antique 19th-century rose engine come together in the Redentore Levius: 38 mm in diameter, just 8.9 mm thick and weighing only 48 grams on the wrist.

Venezianico explores a new dimension of the Redentore, transforming lightness into matter, gesture and perception.

Some qualities can be expressed through numbers; others can only truly be understood when they are experienced. Lightness belongs to both.

With the Redentore Levius, Venezianco opens a new chapter in its exploration of contemporary Italian watchmaking, choosing to work through subtraction: reducing weight, refining forms and eliminating everything that is not essential, without sacrificing material, mechanics or the value of craftsmanship.

Three elements define the project and express its identity: a Grade 5 titanium case, the Made in Italy hand-wound V5000 calibre and a guilloché dial entirely hand-engraved by Linda Renzetti using an antique rose engine dating from the mid-19th century.

The result is a 38 mm dress watch measuring just 8.9 mm thick, in which lightness is not simply a technical specification but becomes an integral part of the emotional experience of the watch.

The case alone weighs 12.9 grams, the complete watch head just 40 grams and, once fitted with its handcrafted Italian leather strap, the Levius tips the scales at only 48 grams.

Numbers that are difficult to translate into sensation until the moment the watch is held or worn. It is then that the meaning of its name becomes immediately apparent.

Levius derives from the Latin levis: light, delicate, gentle. A word chosen to express the essence of a watch in which lightness becomes a form of elegance, something that does not need to impose itself in order to be felt.

The harmonious proportions and clean lines that characterise the Redentore collection remain intact, as does the neoclassical inspiration that has always shaped its design.

What changes is the perception: on the wrist, the Levius seems almost to lose its physical substance, allowing the light, the dial and the movement of its engraved pattern to emerge. Lightness is no longer something simply measured in grams, but something to be felt against the skin.

Making this possible is, first and foremost, Grade 5 titanium, chosen for its exceptional balance of lightness, strength and refinement. A material with outstanding technical properties, titanium is particularly challenging to work with when the aim is to achieve the polished surfaces and contrasting finishes normally associated with elegant watchmaking.

It is rare to encounter this level of finishing on a material more commonly used for sports watches, where it is generally presented with brushed or sandblasted surfaces.

Venezianico alternates brushed and polished surfaces, creating a dialogue between the contemporary character of titanium and the soft, classical forms of the Redentore. The polished bezel captures the light, while the different finishes follow the contours of the case without adding visual weight.

But if titanium makes the Levius physically light, it is the dial that transforms that same idea into an image: Zefiro, the wind engraved in metal.

The guilloché motif created specifically for the Redentore Levius is named Zefiro and draws its inspiration from Zephyrus, the West Wind of classical mythology: a mild, benevolent breeze, herald of spring, associated with nature's awakening and the return of life.

The intention is not to depict the wind, but to capture its passage. The undulating lines of the Zefiro pattern seem to ripple across the surface of the dial like an invisible current sweeping across the Venetian Lagoon, continuously changing according to the angle of the light and the movement of the wrist.

Something intangible thus takes shape in matter. The pattern seems to breathe, expand and contract, transforming the physical lightness of the titanium case into its visual equivalent: wind engraved in metal.

Each dial is created by Linda Renzetti. Raised in her family's workshop, where the art of guilloché has been handed down through generations, she is today among the small number of artisans capable of preserving this technique through the manual use of historic rose-engine lathes.

For the Levius, she works on a machine dating from the mid-19th century, entirely devoid of automation, where every movement depends upon the sensitivity and experience of the artisan. Pressure, rhythm and progression are controlled entirely by hand as the pattern gradually takes shape on the metal.

Line by line, the motif emerges through a slow process in which every gesture is definitive. There is no possibility of correcting or erasing. It is precisely this direct relationship between hand, machine and material that makes every dial subtly different from the next, transforming an extremely precise geometry into a living surface. With Zefiro, Linda Renzetti therefore harnesses the mechanical rhythm of a 19th-century rose engine to give shape to something that, by its very nature, has no shape: the wind.

Beneath this dial beats the V5000, the hand-wound mechanical calibre entirely designed and manufactured in Italy, which with the Levius enters the third act of its story.

Manufactured by OISA and designed by Fausto Berizzi and Andrea Menegazzo, Technical Director of Venezianico, the V5000 was born from one of the most ambitious challenges undertaken by the brand: to bring back to Italy not simply the design or assembly of a watch, but its very mechanical heart.

Conceived as a project capable of demonstrating that a high-quality movement could once again be built in Italy, the V5000 has progressively become one of the most recognisable elements of Venezianico's identity.

With the Levius, it finds a new expression, one particularly consistent with the philosophy of the watch: its manual winding, slender architecture and absence of a rotor all contribute to maintaining the sense of essentiality that runs throughout the entire project.

Through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement is revealed without mediation, exposing its bridges, gear train and balance wheel and reminding us that behind the apparent simplicity of the Levius lies a profoundly Italian mechanical project.

Lightness, then, becomes a new expression of the Redentore. With the Levius, Venezianico continues the journey that began with Utopia, while choosing to explore a different dimension.

If Utopia transformed the ambition of a Made in Italy mechanical movement into reality, the Levius begins with that same technical heritage, no longer “utopian”, and asks what elegance can mean today. This time, the answer lies not in adding, but in subtracting. Less weight, less thickness, no superfluous elements. What remains is material, mechanics, the artisan's gesture and light.

All contained within 38 millimetres of diameter, 8.9 millimetres of thickness and 48 grams of weight. Because sometimes, to give greater value to time, you simply have to make it lighter.

VENEZIANICO – REDENTORE Utopia Edition

VENEZIANICO – REDENTORE Utopia Guilloché Dial Edition 2025

VENEZIANICO TAKES A GIANT LEAP FORWARD:
THE V5000 CALIBER AND THE REDENTORE UTOPIA TIMEPIECE
THE DREAM OF A “MADE IN ITALY” MOVEMENT COMES TRUE

Born from a collaboration with masters of Italian watchmaking and craftsmanship, Alberto and Alessandro Morelli have brought the V5000 caliber to life: a groundbreaking project for the brand and a new chapter in the renaissance of Italian horology. The first watch to house it: the Redentore Utopia.

Venezianico unveils its first Italian-made movement, the V5000—an achievement resulting from over two years of development, driven by a clear technical vision and a partnership with some of Italy’s finest mechanical talents.

Its design reinterprets the codes of classical watchmaking through a new lens of balance, proportion, and function, featuring bridges machined from solid metal, refined finishes, and an unprecedented level of accuracy for the brand.

This project marks a transformative evolution, elevating the brand exponentially while embodying a firm commitment to championing Italian technical excellence on the global stage.

The V5000 was born from continuous dialogue with the growing Venezianico community—years of listening and engagement transformed wishes and expectations into a clear vision of what the “ideal caliber” should be.

"The dream of creating an Italian-made movement made us look further, questioning which of our timepieces could truly honor this new caliber. The answer was none—so we had to create one," says Alberto Morelli, CEO of the San Donà di Piave-based company.

A pivotal encounter with Fausto Berizzi, technical director of OISA and a storied figure in Italian watchmaking — with past roles at Frédéric Piguet, Lemania, and Vaucher Manufacture — proved invaluable. His experience with some of Switzerland's top manufactures was instrumental in the development of the V5000.

"From day one, our dream was to create a timepiece that was genuinely ours, inside and out. A movement designed by us, made in Italy, and a watch that would fully express it. It seemed like an unreachable goal. We often wondered if it would ever happen. In Fausto Berizzi, we found not only a seasoned expert but someone who fully shared our vision and immediately connected with Andrea Menegazzo, Head of Product Design and Development. Together, we gave life to the V5000—our first Italian-designed, registered, and built caliber (design and model no. 402025000000420),"continues Alberto Morelli.

V5000: Architecture, Performance, and Engineering Choices

Key features of the first mechanical movement signed by Venezianico are immediately striking: a four-bridge architecture, a slim profile, and a double-supported balance bridge designed to enhance stability and timekeeping consistency.

The V5000 is a manually wound movement that combines high-level technical performance with refined aesthetics: it boasts 25,200 vibrations/hour (3.5 Hz) and a power reserve of over 60 hours and chronometric precision of ±3 seconds per day—results achieved through advanced engineering choices and meticulous construction.

Yet not everything is visible at first glance: the split gear train separates the seconds from the hours and minutes, improving accuracy and reducing internal interference. Subtler details, such as micrometric axial play adjustment and a specially selected escapement for reliability, speak to the care invested in every design decision.

Key Features of the V5000 Caliber

High-End Inertia-Variable Balance Wheel

Manufactured by Atokalpa in a copper-beryllium alloy, the V5000’s balance wheel is regulated using four peripheral masselottes—small weights that allow for inertia adjustments without altering the active hairspring length.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

Compared to traditional balance wheels with regulator pins, this system enables more precise and stable adjustment over time, reducing the effects of shocks or position changes on timekeeping. This type of balance is a hallmark of haute horlogerie, where long-term performance is paramount.

Split Gear Train for Long-Term Precision

The gear train is divided into two separate branches—one dedicated to the seconds, the other to the hours and minutes. This mechanical separation reduces interference between the gear trains, ensuring that the continuous movement of the seconds hand doesn't compromise the main system’s consistency. The result: more stable and reliable accuracy over time.

KIF Elastor Antishock System: Stability, Precision, and Durability

The V5000 incorporates the KIF Elastor system, which protects the balance staff from shocks and sudden impacts. At its core is a star-shaped helical spring surrounding the jewel setting, enabling controlled micro-movements. Upon impact, the spring slightly deforms to absorb energy and return the balance to its optimal position.

60-Hour Power Reserve: Readiness and Continuity

With a careful balance of efficiency and practicality, the V5000 offers over 60 hours of power reserve—well above the average for automatic movements. This allows the watch to maintain consistent, accurate timekeeping even after days of inactivity, avoiding unnecessary winding or adjustment. It's a reserve designed to adapt to different lifestyles—daily wear or part of a rotation—ensuring reliability and ease of use.

Radial Côtes de Genève and Micro-Perlage Finishes

The V5000’s finishing strikes a balance between technical discipline and artisanal care, designed to highlight the movement’s architecture without excess. All bridges are decorated with radial Côtes de Genève—dynamic light-catching patterns executed with exacting precision. The double-supported balance bridge, due to its technical role, features horizontal satin finishing to emphasize its structural importance.

On the mainplate, near the balance wheel, micro-perlage is hand-applied to add depth to this sensitive area. Finally, all bridges feature polished anglage—manually executed to elegantly define edges and showcase the caliber’s fine finishing. Each V5000 is hand-assembled by master watchmakers in controlled environments with high-precision tools.

Redentore Utopia: the dream becomes reality, in a limited edition of 100 numbered pieces.

Born from an idea that once seemed impossible to realize in Italy, the first watch to house the hand-wound mechanical movement with the V5000 calibre is the Redentore model, in an exclusive version aptly named "Utopia".

"A timepiece that unites form, substance, and meaning. Every detail—from the mechanical heart to the hand-engraved dial—tells the story of who we are and where we’re heading. It’s a milestone, certainly. But for us, it’s only the beginning," say brothers Alberto and Alessandro Morelli.

The Redentore Utopia features a 38mm 316L stainless steel case with a slender 8.9mm profile. Its dial is hand-engraved using guilloché technique on a rose engine lathe, with an exclusive pattern created specifically for this model by master artisan Riccardo Renzetti. The radial motif, composed of perfectly regular waves, results from a slow, mechanical, yet non-automated sequence of gestures—each guided by the artisan’s hand and eye.

To elevate this living surface, the metal is colored via IP (Ion Plating) treatment, lending the dial a deep, vibrant hue that shifts with the light. Reflections dance along the engraving, creating a dynamic, iridescent effect that highlights every detail. In such a richly textured dial, each element must be carefully balanced. Under the anti-reflective sapphire crystal, faceted alpha hands polished to a mirror finish reflect light crisply, ensuring legibility in all conditions.

The baton-style indices are hand-applied with meticulous precision, following the dial’s curvature without breaking its rhythm. Every detail contributes to a measured and understated aesthetic, in line with the model’s essentialist philosophy.

Completing the Redentore Utopia is a handcrafted embossed leather strap made by Gian Pietro Failli in his Tuscan atelier, at the heart of Italy’s leatherworking tradition. An expression of authentic, time-honored craftsmanship, the leather—chosen for its exceptional softness and natural fit—is treated using traditional techniques that enhance its grain and preserve its long-term value.
