CHOPARD – L.U.C Quattro 'Spirit Enso', 'Meditating Daruma' & 'Samurai Last Stand' Edition - 2025
Chopard’s emblematic jumping-hour movement equips three exclusive new editions of the L.U.C Quattro Spirit in ethical gold. Staging an encounter between East and West, the dial of these creations revisits symbols embedded in Japanese culture through Grand Feu enamel skills mastered by a specialised artisan within the Manufacture.

The meticulous finishing of the L.U.C Quattro Spirit Enso, L.U.C Quattro Spirit Samurai Last Stand and L.U.C Quattro Spirit Meditating Daruma has earned them recognition symbolised by the Poinçon de Genève hallmark. Equipped with the four barrels characterising the exclusive Chopard Quattro technology offering up to an eight-day power reserve, L.U.C Calibre 98.06-L places these horological masterpieces among the rare jumping-hour watches endowed with such autonomy. Each edition, in 18-carat ethical white or rose gold, is limited to 8 timepieces.
Artistic crafts: dials reflecting the expertise of the Manufacture’s enamelling artisan
A case in ethical gold featuring rounded shapes inspired by the hunter-type pocket watches once designed by Louis-Ulysse Chopard frames an exceptional dial adorned with Grand Feu enamel. This decorative technique has been cultivated since the 17th century and is now perpetuated by only a handful of master Artisans, including an enameller within Chopard Manufacture.

The enamelling process involves mixing silica with ground oxides to form coloured powders that are dissolved in water before being delicately applied to the dial in thin layers. Between each application, the dial is fired in a high-temperature kiln for a very specific length of time, as each of these firings jeopardises the balance of the overall composition. Throughout this process, the Artisan’s intuition and experience are crucial.

The integration of this Artistic craft is representative of Karl-Friedrich Scheufele’s determination to create – with Chopard Manufacture – a centre of excellence dedicated to perpetuating traditional watchmaking expertise.
The rich symbols of Japanese culture, faithful to the L.U.C philosophy
The motifs depicted by the enamel Artisan were chosen by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele in reference to symbols of Japanese culture, resonating with the L.U.C philosophy, which remains faithful to refined aesthetics, respect for traditions and the place of history in civilisations around the world. Punctuated with gold or platinum, these black enamel dials are not merely decorative, but become unique works of art.

The first series pays tribute to the ensō, the emblematic circle drawn in a single stroke as an act of meditation and mindfulness. This illustrates the beauty of the moment and the acceptance of imperfection through the balance between emptiness and fullness.

The second dial is inspired by a powerful symbol from Japanese military history: the tattered battle fan, which Chopard's Co-President had the opportunity to admire on a kimono belt (obi) as he visited Japan.

Finally, the dial of the third L.U.C Quattro Spirit limited edition draws inspiration from an iconic work by the courtier and painter Konoe Nobutada (1565–1614), entitled Daruma in Meditation. This ink painting executed in a minimalist style depicts a legendary monk named Daruma who was the founder of Zen Buddhism. Having meditated while facing a wall for nine years, Daruma embodies the quest for spiritual awakening, resilience and inner balance.

a jumping-hour calibre endowed with an exceptional eight-day power reserve
The jumping-hour movement equipping these limited series is one of the few in this category of watches – which generally consume a great deal of energy – to offer up to eight days of power reserve. Thanks to the four stacked and series-coupled barrels based on the unique Chopard Quattro technology – which usually offers up to 216 hours of autonomy – the L.U.C Quattro Spirit model maintains a reserve above 190 hours despite the amount of energy required for the instant rotation of the hours disc.
This power reserve can be tracked using the indicator engraved on the movement visible through the transparent case-back.
Together, the four barrels comprise almost two metres of spring. In addition to providing a more generous power reserve, they ensure greater accuracy because the energy transmitted is more evenly distributed. The energy delivered to the escapement is more constant, as is the amplitude, thus enabling high levels of chronometric (precision timekeeping) performance.
Visible through an exhibition case-back, this highly complicated mechanical hand-wound movement ensures reliability and precision within an overall thickness of just 4.85 millimetres. The balance-spring is equipped with a Phillips terminal curve that guarantees the regulating organ’s precision throughout the movement’s operation – a feat of which only authentic Haute Horlogerie Manufactures are capable. It features a swan’s neck regulator index enabling more accurate timing of the balance frequency (and hence the rate of the watch) by helping to fine-tune the active length of the balance-spring. In addition to its technical benefits, this device also endows the calibre with a more sophisticated aesthetic.
Craftsmanship recognised by the Poinçon de Genève
In 1997, Chopard Manufacture launched the first watch to emerge from its watchmaking workshops: the L.U.C 1860, equipped with the L.U.C 96.01-L movement. Since then, through the L.U.C collection, it has accumulated mastery of all the major horological complications. Between Fleurier and Geneva, Chopard Manufacture conceives, develops, manufactures, assembles, decorates and certifies all its timepieces. Thanks to Karl-Friedrich Scheufele's commitment to watchmaking tradition and technical innovation, the Manufacture maintains a high level of finishing by preserving numerous Artistic crafts and skills.

The excellence of these L.U.C Quattro Spirit models is acknowledged by the Poinçon de Genève, which guarantees the quality and proper functioning of watches assembled in the canton. Stamped on the back of the watch and on the main bridge of the movement, it represents the coat of arms of the city of Geneva, consisting of a golden key and an eagle.
