ZENITH DEFY EXTREME LAPIS LAZULI:
PRECISION THAT RADIATES IN BLUE

As part of its 160th anniversary celebrations, Zenith continues to pay tribute to its rich heritage through creations that combine natural beauty with technical brilliance. With its deep celestial blue, lapis lazuli perfectly echoes Zenith’s signature hue, a symbol of infinity, precision and the pursuit of excellence.

The Manufacture now unveils an extraordinary expression of its most daring and technologically advanced chronograph: the Defy Extreme Lapis Lazuli, produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces.

Housed in a striking combination of microblasted yellow gold and polished steel, the 45mm DEFY Extreme Lapis Lazuli reveals a captivating openworked dial crafted from this celestial blue stone. Through its translucent depth, the dial offers glimpses of the groundbreaking movement within, a mechanical marvel capable of measuring 1/100th of a second with absolute precision.

The DEFY Extreme’s bold, angular architecture takes on a new expression through the contrast of mirror-polished steel and the warm, matte radiance of yellow gold adorning the dodecagonal bezel and pusher protectors. This play of light and texture accentuates the watch’s sculptural form, while the golden tones echo through the hands; hour markers and lapis lazuli dial itself.

Each dial is a natural work of art: its deep blue surface is scattered with shimmering pyrite inclusions, ensuring that no two pieces are ever alike. Completing the composition, the outer 1/100th of a second scale is rendered in blue, creating a seamless chromatic harmony across the dial.

At the heart of the DEFY Extreme Lapis Lazuli beats the El Primero 9004 calibre, a remarkable evolution of ZENITH’s legendary high-frequency chronograph. It remains the only mechanical chronograph in regular production capable of measuring 1/100th of a second.

This technical achievement is made possible by two independent escapements: one beating at 5Hz (36,000 VpH) for timekeeping, and another at an astounding 50Hz (360,000 VpH) dedicated to the chronograph. The latter drives the central chronograph’s hand to perform a full rotation of the dial every second, enabling perfectly clear readings of elapsed times down to a hundredth of a second.

The openworked dial reveals the movement’s dynamic architecture, with the chronograph seconds counter at 6 o’clock, chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock, power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, and small seconds at 9 o’clock. Through the sapphire case back, the view continues with the signature star-shaped oscillating weight in satin-brushed finish, a contemporary hallmark of ZENITH’s craftsmanship.

True to the versatile spirit of the DEFY Extreme, this special edition features an interchangeable strap system, operated effortlessly via push buttons on the back of the case.

It is delivered with three distinct options: a steel bracelet, a black embossed rubber strap with folding clasp, and a black Velcro strap, allowing the wearer to adapt the watch seamlessly from sport to sophistication.

PORSCHE DESIGN – Chronograph 1 – 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche Edition

PORSCHE DESIGN Chronograph 1  911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche Titanium Exclusive Edition  - 2025

Today would have marked the 90th birthday of Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, known as F. A. Porsche. The visionary who transformed the design world through uncompromising minimalism and a flawless sense of functionality left a legacy that continues to inspire.

To honor this special date, Porsche and Porsche Design are presenting a series of exclusive collectibles celebrating his enduring influence. Highlights include the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche, limited to 90 units, and a special edition of the legendary Chronograph 1.

Complemented by a bespoke Weekender and the reissued iconic “Porsche Junior” sports sled, these pieces form a curated collection that pays tribute to design, precision, and timeless elegance.

In 1972, F. A. Porsche, together with his brother Hans-Peter, founded the design studio Porsche Design, which quickly became synonymous with functional and timeless design.

True to his credo, “If you analyze the function of an object, its form often becomes obvious.”, the visionary behind the legendary Porsche 911 created enduring classics such as the Chronograph 1 and the P’8478 sunglasses with interchangeable lenses, both emblematic of F. A. Porsche’s design philosophy.

Today, 90 years after his birth, Porsche Design celebrates the legacy of its founder, whose vision continues to inspire the brand and beyond.

In Honor of the Visionary: An Exclusive Edition of the Chronograph 1

At the heart of the exclusive collector pieces is the anniversary edition of the Chronograph 1 – a timepiece inspired by F. A. Porsche’s personal Chronograph I, which remains in the possession of his descendants.

A special Super-LumiNova® coating on the hands and indices evokes the aged look of radium or tritium, creating a subtle patina effect. The vintage character is further enhanced by the historic Porsche Design logo on the buckle and crown.

Above the bilingual daydate display at 3 o’clock, the letters “F. A. P.” appear; normally this position bears the Porsche Design logo, but F. A. Porsche had his initials placed there on his personal watch. The rotor of the automatic movement mirrors the shape and color of the wheels of the limited-edition sportscar. Laser engraving on the case back displays the limited-edition number (XX/90) and F. A. Porsche’s signature.

Unlike the original, the case is made from ultra-lightweight, durable, and hypoallergenic titanium, yet retains the black coating of the 1972 historical model. In addition to the black-coated titanium bracelet, the timepiece can also be worn on a supplied leather strap.

The Truffle Brown calf leather and the Chalk Beige stitching reflect the materials used in the sports car’s interior. Thanks to the quick-change system, both straps can be swapped easily without tools.

As with all Porsche Design timepieces, the Chronograph features COSC certification, ensuring the highest level of precision. Each timepiece is handcrafted at Porsche’s watch manufactory in Grenchen, Switzerland.

The exceptional timepiece is based on the Chronograph 1 – 1972 Limited Edition, which Porsche

Design reissued in 2022 to mark its 50th anniversary. It faithfully replicates the original in every visual detail while featuring state-of-the-art technology.

The design was inspired by the dashboard of the Porsche 911. F. A. translated its functional aesthetics into the Chronograph I – featuring a black-coated case and metal watchstraps, a matte Black dial, fluorescent white hands and indices, and a striking red stop-seconds hand – thereby creating the world’s first entirely Black timepiece.

Timeless Icons: The Chronograph in Harmony with the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche

The Chronograph is closely linked to the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche, limited to 90 units. This bespoke collector’s car, featuring customized exterior and interior details, is inspired by a 911(G-Series) that F. A. Porsche drove in the 1980s

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The special edition, based on the GT3 with Touring Package, incorporates numerous personal references to the creator of the 911. The exclusive F. A. Green Metallic color is inspired by his personal 911, while the specially developed F. A. Grid-Weave pattern appears on the seat centers, glove compartment, and trunk mat, reflecting the characteristic pattern of F. A. Porsche’s favorite jackets.

The black-painted Sport Classic wheels take their inspiration from the classic Fuchs wheels. The Chronograph brings this motif to life in its automatic movement rotor, mirroring the wheels’ distinctive shape and color. These material references continue seamlessly in the design of the anniversary timepiece, whose leather strap matches the interior of the sports car.

From Road to Journey: The Weekender

Among the exclusive collectibles is a spacious weekender that translates the vehicle’s design concept seamlessly into the world of accessories.

Material, color, and pattern all echo the car’s interior: Truffle Brown leather, Chalk Beige stitching, and the F. A. Grid-Weave pattern in the lining of the front pocket reflect the interior design of the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche

The embroidered anniversary logo, inspired by the plaque on the car’s rear grille, completes this distinctive travel bag, making it an elegant companion for journeys in the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche

Anyone who purchases the special 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche – limited to just 90 units – also receives the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 along with the specially designed Weekender.

The Comeback of a Cult Object – the “Porsche Junior” Sports Sled Returns

For the anniversary, another iconic creation by F. A. Porsche makes a comeback: the “Porsche Junior.” This shell-shaped sports sled was originally offered in the 1960s, particularly for young Porsche fans. It was also a favorite leisure activity for F. A. Porsche and his children, as family photos show.

The new edition is made from carbon, a material proven in motorsport and automotive construction, making the sled exceptionally lightweight. A Kevlar core provides additional stability. Like the vehicle, the Porsche Junior is limited to 90 units and finished in the special F. A. Green Metallic exterior color.

The sled’s seat cushion is upholstered in the F. A. Grid-Weave fabric from the 911 GT3 90 F. A. Porsche.

Albishorn –AIR Type 10 Officer Chronograph Edition

Albishorn AIR Type 10 Officer 1948 Chronograph Edition 2025

Albishorn is proud to release a new iteration of the Type 10—an imaginary ancestor to the renowned Type 20.

Albishorn creates vintage watches that never existed. Designed to explore imagined, exciting, and parallel histories, we call this concept “Imaginary Vintage®.”

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Their timepieces can be seen as “missing links” in the history of watchmaking, fitting seamlessly into the heritage of horology while distinctly showcasing their own character. With the Type 10, Albishorn answers the question: What might a predecessor to the iconic Type 20 chronograph, hypothetically crafted in 1948, have looked like? Now, let’s delve into the backstory of the Type 10Officer—the missing link in the history of military chronographs.

The imaginary history

Pilot chronograph wristwatches from the past hold a fascinating place in horological history. Born out of necessity during the early 20th century, these timepieces were developed specifically for aviators, who required accurate and reliable instruments to navigate the skies. These watches were not only tools but also symbols of the adventurous spirit and technological progress of the time.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The origins of pilot chronographs can be traced back to World War I, when aviation was rapidly evolving and pilots needed precise timekeeping devices to calculate flight durations, synchronize maneuvers, and plan navigation.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Many iconic models emerged in the 1950s, which all became enduring symbols of aviation timekeeping.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

From all these chronographs, the Type 20 is certainly the epitome of pilot chronographs. The Type 20 was manufactured for the French Army by various watchmakers such as Breguet, Vixa, Auricoste, and Dodane. It was designed as a tool watch for pilots, featuring a flyback function, a rotating bezel, and anti-magnetic properties. It gained popularity due to its robustness, functionality, and elegant design.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Unfortunately, the Type 20 does not have a direct predecessor. However, let's imagine how an earlier model, an elusive ancestor of the Type 20, developed during the end of 1940s might have looked like.

The Watch

The Type 10 Officer is a monopusher military chronograph conceived in the spirit of the 1940s. Developed to meet the demands of pilots of that era, it combines a distinctive design with a patented movement built for precision and reliability.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Within the Type 10 range, the Officer holds a particular place. Its white dial is not a gesture of elegance, but a functional choice. Designed for daylight operations and open-air precision, it offers optimal legibility under glare — on training fields, mountain slopes, or snow-covered terrain, where bright conditions make dark dials harder to read. Robust, chronometer-certified, and manually wound, the Type 10 Officer embodies the discipline and clarity of the true instrument watch.

Dial

Like all pilot chronographs, the dial of the Type 10 was designed with a focus on legibility and functionality. Its striking cream color serves as a backdrop for the contrasting black luminous numerals, ensuring easy readability in various lighting conditions, making it highly suitable for pilots who require quick and accurate time readings during their flights.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

To further ensure excellent legibility and unlike any other mechanical chronograph wristwatch (including the Type 20), the Type 10 boasts two sub-dials positioned at 4:30 and 7:30, showcasing the running seconds and the elapsed minutes respectively. The inclusion of two counters at the bottom of the dial contributes to a clear and wellorganized “dashboard type” design. In addition, it features a unique and patented chronograph function indicator at 12 o’clock.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The hands are filled with luminous material (Super-LumiNova®) as well, allowing for easy reading in low-light conditions, critical for night flights.

Case

With a sleek stainless steel case of only 12 mm height (sapphire box crystal included!), the Type 10 reflects a seamless blend of robustness and elegance. The alternance of brushed and polished surfaces provide a subtle contrast, accentuating the watch's overall presence. All edges of the case have been chamfered and polished, offering a sophisticated haute horlogerie aesthetic.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

One of the standout features of the Type 10 is its black turning bezel. Made from DLC-coated steel, the bezel was designed to rotate in a bidirectional manner. The black color not only adds a bold and distinctive touch to the watch's appearance but also offered a high contrast against the case, enhancing legibility.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The rotating bezel features engraved graduations alternately filled with lacquer and luminous material, enabling aviators to perform various calculations related to flight planning and navigation. The conical shape of the bezel adds a dynamic element to the watch's design, further enhancing its aesthetic appeal.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Positioned at 10:30 on the case, the crown allows for easy winding and time-setting while keeping it clear of any obstructions during crucial maneuvers. The crown is specifically crafted from bronze. The choice of bronze emphasizes the prototype aspect of the watch and adds character and visual distinction to the timepiece. Over time, it will develop a patina, giving the watch a unique, aged appearance.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Adjacent to the crown, at 9:30 on the case side, is a red aluminum pusher, discreetly integrated into the case design. The location at 9:30 allows the pusher to be activated by the thumb, which is considered the best finger for operating a chronograph. The overall design and the large size of the pusher simplify the operation and add a touch of uniqueness to the watch. This innovation is a testament to the Type 10's commitment to practicality and usability, as its simplicity in operation perfectly aligns with the Type 10's intended purpose as a reliable tool for professional pilots.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The concept of a single pusher chronograph is also reminiscent of early chronographs that featured a single button for starting, stopping, and resetting the chronograph function. This single pusher controls all the chronograph functions —start, stop and reset— allowing pilots to measure elapsed time with precision.

Movement

The Type 10 incorporates a robust and reliable proprietary mechanical chronograph movement, meticulously tested and certified by the COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute). This manual-winding chronometer chronograph movement, hidden beneath a solid caseback, is expertly crafted in La Chaux-defonds, Switzerland, to ensure accurate timekeeping and flawless functionality.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Once fully wound, it offers an astounding 65 hours of power reserve. A further standout attribute of Albishorn's movement is its remarkably low height of only 5.70 mm, enabling the production of particularly thin chronographs reminiscent of the 1940s and setting it apart from its competitors

Versions

The Officer is the third version of the Type 10. The two first one are the Classic and the Sihlwald.

Price and availability

The Type 10 Officer is priced at CHF 3,950, excluding tariffs, taxes and shipping. It is limited to 99 pieces, produced over a period of three years. It will be available exclusively online at www.albishorn-watches.ch. Sales will open on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 9:00 AM (EST) / 3:00 PM (CET).
