Created under the concept envisioned by George Bamford—renowned custom watch pioneer and founder of Bamford Watch Department—this model invites wearers on a journey to “paradise,” a world of freedom and refreshment away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Based on the ever-popular SKX series, the design reinterprets Seiko archive models using collage techniques. The result is a one-of-a-kind limited edition that fuses nostalgia with a futuristic spirit, offering a playful and imaginative take on retro-futurism.

Featuring a blue skeleton dial, this model incorporates the indexes and hands once used in the 1980s SKX series. The ocean-inspired translucent dial embodies George Bamford’s vision of duality—of what is seen and unseen, of the present and the timeless—capturing two worlds in one design.

The bezel insert recreates a classic Seiko archive design using a lustrous material that blends a sense of nostalgia with a futuristic feel. The “BAMFORD” logo is subtly placed at the 6 o’clock position on the dial and on the clasp of the nylon strap, adding a discreet signature touch.

The indexes and hands are coated with Lumibrite. By incorporating fluorescent accents throughout the design—including the bezel, hands, and nylon strap—the watch reveals a different expression under black light.

The case back is marked with the words “LIMITED EDITION” and a serial number to signify its exclusivity, along with the printed “BWD” logo, representing Bamford Watch Department

CREDOR – Goldfeather Tourbillon Platinum Edition

CREDORGoldfeather Tourbillon "The Birds soaring into the Sky" Lacquer Techniques Urushi by Isshu Tamura Platinum Edition - 2025

Credor soars with the masterful expression of diverse urushi
    lacquer techniques in a
    new Goldfeather tourbillon.

Since its birth in 1974, Credor has embodied sophisticated craftsmanship and refined elegance. Derived from the French crête d’or, or “crest of gold,” the Credor name has long stood for the highest echelon of watchmaking artistry. The Goldfeather, first launched in 1960, was reborn in 2023 as the Credor Goldfeather, a modern dress watch that strives to embody the qualities of a feather: thin, light, smooth, elegant, and graceful.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Today, the Credor Goldfeather reaches new heights of beauty and performance through a rich combination of urushi lacquer and, for the first time in a Goldfeather watch, a tourbillon.

A harmony of urushi lacquer techniques

The dial captures the image of birds soaring into the sky, their ascent tracing a trajectory from the tourbillon carriage at the nine o’clock position to the Credor logo at 12 o’clock. The birds are brought to life through two techniques that are part of Japanese urushi craftsmanship: raden, in which mother-of-pearl in varying colors is delicately inlaid on the lacquered dial, creating a beautiful shimmer against the dark urushi backdrop; and kirikane, a decorative art that involves cutting gold plate into fine lines or shapes and applying it to surfaces. In creating the dial, urushi artisan Isshu Tamura carefully applies each portion of mother-of-pearl and gold plate, which differ in thickness, making controlled layering essential to achieving harmony between the two.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

He then shaves down the surface with extraordinary precision to create an even finish and bring out the ideal color. This meticulous craftsmanship produces a smooth surface and a depth within the thin lacquer layer, creating a gradation of color that arcs across the soft curve of the dial and evokes the boundless beauty of the sky. The gold flecks encircling the tourbillon carriage are crafted in maki-e, a technique in which gold powder is sprinkled onto the lacquer, with the tourbillon’s motion symbolizing the radiant energy of the sun. The tourbillon bridge assumes the shape of a bird in flight with outstretched wings.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The new Caliber 6850 movement, visible through the sapphire crystal case back, features a dynamic design inspired by the primary feathers that generate lift as a bird ascends into the sky. The motif is expressed through a combination of bold and delicate engraving, as well as raden and maki-e, with the design radiating outward from the tourbillon carriage, echoing the story on the dial.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Requiring no screws, the newly developed case achieves a seamless form.

Hand-applied by a dedicated team of engravers, the grooves are carved with tools of different shapes to give each feather a depth of its own, creating a three-dimensional landscape within just 0.15mm. The tempered blue screws and the greenish-blue hue of the outer feather made with raden and maki-e enhance the overall harmony and striking presence of the design. The raden used in this feather is made of yakougai, the shell of the green turban snail.

A new tourbillon movement meets a new Goldfeather case

This timepiece houses the new tourbillon Caliber 6850, the successor to Caliber 6830, which was introduced in 2016. Maintaining the same compact dimensions as Caliber 6830 (25.6mm in diameter and 3.98mm in thickness), the new movement features an enlarged mainspring barrel that extends the power reserve to 60 hours.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The movement is assembled by master watchmaker Katsuo Saito, who in 2023 received the Medal with Yellow Ribbon, an honor bestowed by the Japanese government upon individuals who have become public role models through their diligence and perseverance in their professions. The movement’s thinness, combined with the extremely small components within the tourbillon carriage, demands exceptional skill at every stage of assembly, adjustment, and mounting. The adjustment of parts such as the spring and pallet fork requires a precision of one-hundredth of a millimeter. Adjusting the space between parts also requires a high level of precision.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The Credor logo, name, and Goldfeather letters are rendered in raised maki-e.

While housing a tourbillon movement and featuring Goldfeather’s signature curved form, this creation maintains its slim profile of 8.6mm thanks to a newly developed case. With the mid-case, lugs, and the part of the back that is not sapphire crystal all formed as one part, the design offers a streamlined silhouette. The case is made of Platinum 950, a material that is difficult to polish. Sparing no effort, the case is hand-polished and finished by skilled artisans to ensure smooth surfaces and comfort on the wrist, as well as uncompromising beauty.

This new Goldfeather will be available as a limited edition of 10 starting in October 2025.

    Urushi Lacquer Artisan
    Isshu Tamura

After mastering the traditional Kaga maki-e technique, which originated in the Kaga Domain (now Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture), Tamura set out to produce his own works of art characterized by unparalleled and intricate beauty.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

His exquisite artistry, achieved through exceptionally detailed craftsmanship, has earned high acclaim around the world.

    Watchmaker

Katsuo Saito has been involved in the assembly, adjustment, and repair of high-end mechanical watches since 2002. In 2017, Saito was awarded the title of Contemporary Master Craftsman (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare), and in 2023, he received the Medal with Yellow Ribbon.

The compass ring and rotating bezel, hallmarks of the Landmaster series, have been given a three-dimensional shape for ease of operation and legibility. Powering the new Landmaster is the in-house caliber 8L35, created to withstand harsh environments. This highly accurate movement was assembled and adjusted by the skilled craftsmen and women of Shizukuishi.

Under the solid caseback is the in-house calibre 8L35, also known as a Grand Seiko calibre 9S55. This high-end automatic movement runs at a 4Hz frequency and offers a generous 50h power reserve. It is assembled by hand at Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Morioka. Its accuracy is rated a +15 to -10 seconds per day.

Grand Seiko – MASTERPIECE Spring Drive 8 Days Days Jewelry Edition

SEIKOGrand Seiko MASTERPIECE Spring Drive 8 Days Jewelry White Lion Platinum Exclusive Limited Edition

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The white lion inspires a Grand Seiko jewelry timepiece of rare craftsmanship.

When, in 2020, Grand Seiko introduced a jewelry watch into the Masterpiece Collection for the first time, its design evoked the landscape of the region where it was created. Today sees the introduction of another Spring Drive jewelry timepiece whose craftsmanship is of the same high standard but whose inspiration is very different. Since 1960, the lion has symbolized the strength of Grand Seiko but now it finds a new expression. The white lion has arrived.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The strength and power of the lion are still at the heart of this watch but the white lion has a beauty that is as striking as it is rare. Sparkling diamonds, black spinels, white gold and Platinum 950 combine to create a stunning timepiece of exquisite artistry.

The lion’s mane flows across the dial

While the strong and angular lugs speak of the power of the lion and the graceful tresses of its mane are reflected in the pattern on the dial, it is the jewels that attract the eye.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

112 diamonds are embedded in the upper surfaces of the case and a further 60 baguette diamonds surround the dial on the bezel.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

No fewer than 94 diamonds are set in the dial, contrasting with the 26 black spinels to create a stunningly intricate effect.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The seconds hand is tempered to a perfect grey color to match the overall tone and a single brilliant-cut diamond is set into the crown.

Hand craftsmanship of the highest order

On the dial, the carefully selected spinels and baguette diamonds are tapered and serve as minute and hour markers. All these gems are set by hand between a very thin pair of 18k white gold rails by the most skilled of the jewelry craftsmen and women in the Shinshu Watch Studio in Shiojiri

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The diamonds on the bezel are also set by hand with a precision that allows the light on their table surfaces to flow evenly, as if the bezel were a single surface. The same high level of jewelry expertise is to be seen on the lugs where the diamonds are set so exactly that they also seem to create a single, flat surface.

A Spring Drive movement with eight days of power and a view of Mt. Fuji

The watch is powered by the Spring Drive 8-day Caliber 9R01 which was created by the Micro Artist Studio, the elite team of watchmakers who create all the Spring Drive watches in the Masterpiece Collection and whose home is in the same Shiojiri facility as the Shinshu Watch Studio.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Caliber 9R01 delivers an accuracy rate of ±10 seconds per month and offers a power reserve of eight days, or 192 hours, when fully wound.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

It incorporates three barrels arranged in sequence to deliver the extended power reserve which is shown by an indicator visible through the sapphire crystal case back along with the exquisite finishing of the one-piece bridge, designed in the image of Mt. Fuji.

A new jewelry Masterpiece inspired by the strenght and beauty of the White Lion

Grand Seiko’s jewelry masterpieces are produced in Shiojiri, where the skilled craftsmen and women of the Micro Artist Studio have been making Spring Drive masterpieces since 2000, combining the best of horological innovation and traditional hand craftsmanship.

Today at Watches and Wonders, Grand Seiko announces reference SBGD209, the newest entry to the Masterpiece Collection, this time inspired by the majestic white lion.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The lion has long been emblematic of Grand Seiko. The king of the jungle made its debut on the case back of the first-ever Grand Seiko timepiece in 1960, and it has remained the enduring symbol of the brand. The choice of the lion as the brand’s icon reflected the ambition of the Grand Seiko team to make the best timepieces of which they were capable—what they would describe as the “king of watches.”

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Rendered in Platinum 950, the “Tokyo Lion” case of SBGD209 features a strong, angular design with numerous facets throughout. It measures 44.5mm in diameter and 14.4mm in thickness. Despite the size and angularity of the design, the case features a gentle curve along its underside that allows for a comfortable fit on the wrist. Its sharply defined edges and prominent ridges are made possible by first cold forging the alloy and then implementing a unique adaptation of Zaratsu polishing technique developed specifically for Platinum 950.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

While the mid-case shape speaks to the lion’s power, it is the elegant application of the fine stones that attract the eye. One hundred twelve diamonds are fixed to the outer surfaces of the case, and an additional 60 baguette diamonds are applied to the bezel.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The diamonds on the bezel are set by hand with a precision that allows the light on the surface to flow evenly as if the bezel were a single surface. The same high level of craft is applied to the lugs, where the diamonds are set so precisely that they also appear to create a single flat surface. A brilliant-cut diamond is set into the crown.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The dial bears a pattern representing the mane of the lion, and here it is rendered in white. Carefully selected black spinels and baguette diamonds are tapered and serve as minute and hour markers. These gems are meticulously set by hand between a very thin pair of 18k white gold rails by the most skilled craftspeople from the Shinshu Watch Studio’s jewelry studio. Contrasting against the dial base for a highly legible display are bold hands, and the seconds hand is tempered to a perfect grey color to match the overall tone of the dial.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO Powering the watch is caliber 9R01. This Spring Drive movement, produced by a dedicated team at the Micro Artist Studio, offers an accuracy of 10 seconds per month and an eight-day power reserve.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The architecture and finishing of the movement are inspired by the scenery as seen from the Takabochi Highlands, near the Micro Artist Studio: the bridge traces the contours of Mt. Fuji, the glide wheel evokes the rising sun, the rubies and tempered blued screws recall the lights of Suwa City at night, and the power reserve indicator marks the shape of Lake Suwa. The caliber features convex beveling along the bridge’s edges, and the top surface has a fine hairline finish—both details executed entirely by hand.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

SBGD209 will be offered in a limited edition of just five and will be presented at selected Grand Seiko Boutiques in May 2022 for $250,000.
