Breguet – CLASSIQUE Calendrier 7337 Moon Phase

BREGUET CLASSIQUE Calendrier 7337 Moon Phase Gold Automatic 2022

New Classique 7337
Contemporary elegance

An emblematic timepiece of the Classique Collection, the new Classique 7337 Calendar features a modern style while retaining the strong codes that have forged the brand's history.

Classique Calendar 7337, available in white and rose gold joins the current Breguet collection.

The importance of details

This elegant, subtle and pure new interpretation by Breguet is resolutely contemporary without compromising its aesthetic origins. The brand’s various decorative skills are indeed present throughout the watch. Its off-centred dial is adorned with a very fine Clous de Paris hobnail guilloché pattern hand-engraved on a rose engine by the in-house artisans. The outer dial features a circular barleycorn motif. The moon phase at 12 o’clock is designed to provide powerful realism.

The gold moon is hand-hammered and the clouds surrounding it have been given a fine sandblasted treatment with a matt texture. Its sky is coated with a blue lacquer composed of spangles subtly revealing the stars depending on the angle from which the timepiece is viewed. The hours, minutes and seconds are indicated by the traditional blued steel open-tipped Breguet hands. The date and day are respectively placed at 2 and 10 o'clock. The windows feature a broad aperture for enhanced readability.

The movement

At the heart of its 39 mm white or rose case beats Calibre 502, which is one of Breguet’s thinnest movements at just 2.4 mm thick. Its design was conceived to provide a high level of performance despite its slenderness. Its barrel is open in order to enhance this slim aesthetic while guaranteeing constant energy and performance. Its oscillating weight is off-centred to provide maximum space for the main movement elements and is thus integrated within a minimum thickness.

This rhodium-plated self-winding movement consists of 236 components. It is equipped with a silicon balance-spring as well as an escapement featuring an inverted straight-line pallet-lever with silicon horns. Silicon boasts multiple properties. In addition to being resistant to corrosion and wear, it is insensitive to the influence of magnetic fields and improves the precision of the timepiece. This movement that can be admired through the sapphire caseback highlights a skill dear to Breguet: decoration.

While the white gold oscillating weight is hand-engraved on a rose engine with a circular barleycorn pattern, the other components are graced with chamfered finishes and a Côtes de Genève motif. Finally, the balance of the new Classique Calendar 7337 oscillates at a frequency of 3 Hz and has a 45-hour power reserve.

The Classique collection

Featuring a design representing a blend of purity and refinement, the Classique collection faithfully illustrates the strong aesthetic of the brand's origins. Above and beyond his talent as a watchmaker and inventor, Abraham-Louis Breguet was also one of the first designers. When the company was founded in Paris in 1775, baroque style was all the rage. He invented and initiated the neoclassical style in watchmaking – an aesthetic vision that gave the dials an avant-garde look while making it easier to read the watch's indications.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

He created open-tipped hands, the guilloché pattern and the off-centred dial, to name but a few of these novel stylistic features. The latter achievement appeared as of 1812 on pocket watches and established the brand’s DNA. Inspired by these creations, the first interpretation of the Classique 7337 wristwatch was introduced in 2009. The 2022 version is a contemporary and elegant incarnation of the original watch, while remaining faithful to the powerful signatures of the Classique line.

Available in 18K white or rose gold, this new timepiece is fitted with a strap in midnight blue for the white gold model and a mysterious brown for the rose gold version.

Breguet – Tradition 7047 Tourbillon Waltz

BREGUETTradition "Grande Complication" 7047 Tourbillon Waltz 2022

To mark the date of creation of the Tourbillon by Abraham-Louis Breguet, the brand unveils its latest model from the Tradition collection: a timepiece featuring strong colours highlighting what has remained – from past to present – one of the most fascinating horological complications of all times.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The fusée-chain tourbillon mechanism appears sprinkled with touches of blue. Various treatments have been used on all the components in order to achieve visual uniformity: the tourbillon carriage and the dial are covered with blue coatings, while the chain links are thermally blued. This new feature reflects the aesthetics of the Tradition Quantième Rétrograde 7597 launched in May and elegantly plays with blue and slate grey contrasts.

A legendary complication

The Tourbillon stemmed from a necessity keenly felt in the 18th century: namely, to overcome the lack of accuracy caused by the vertical position of pocket watches placed in gentlemen’s waistcoats or jackets. The challenge was taken up by Abraham-Louis Breguet, who on 26 June 1801 filed a patent for the creation of the first tourbillon. Ever since, this complication has remained one of the most greatly appreciated by devotees of fine watchmaking, since it reveals the heart of the watch.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The fusée-chain tourbillon transmission device housed in the new Tourbillon 7047 serves to optimise the regularity of the watch's operation by guaranteeing its constant torque, whatever its winding level is.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

When the barrel is fully wound, it delivers its maximum force. The chain then acts on the top of the fusée and therefore on its smallest circumference. As the chain unwinds, its torque decreases yet acts in parallel on the widest part of the fusée – its base – thus ensuring the constant force of the energy is delivered.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Resolutely contemporary while displaying the House’s emblematic codes, the new Tourbillon 7047 picks up the signatures of the Manufacture Breguet: namely the "Clous de Paris" guilloché pattern on its off-centre gold dial, the traditional Roman numerals and the open-tipped hands. Like the watches that inspired it, its dial is secured by three screws.

The movement

At the heart of its 41 mm platinum case beats Calibre 569, a rhodium-plated hand-wound movement housing 542 components. It is equipped with an inverted in-line lever escapement featuring horns made of silicon, as too is the Breguet balance-spring.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This material has many properties, since in addition to being resistant to corrosion and wear, it is insensitive to the influence of magnetic fields and improves the chronometry (timekeeping precision) of the timepiece. Finally, the balance of the Tradition Tourbillon 7047 oscillates at a frequency of 2.5 Hz and has a 50-hour power reserve.

The Tradition collection

Unveiled in 2005, the Tradition collection with its attractive blend of heritage and modernity is the brand's first line to present all the movement's organs on the dial side, thus demonstrating its inspiration from souscription and touch (à tact) watches. Launched in 1797, the souscription watch featured a single hand to read the hours and minutes. The aesthetics of this refined yet minimalist timepiece were avant-garde for its time – as indeed was its concept, since a quarter of the price had to be paid at the time of ordering.

BREGUET - No 3424 pocket watch.
====================

The same calibre was used by Abraham-Louis Breguet to design the first touch (à tact) watches presented a year later at the French Industrial Exhibition. At that time, poor lighting made it difficult to read the time on a dial. It was also not considered very elegant to consult one's watch during social occasions.

BREGUET - No 2292 pocket watch.
 ====================

The founder of the Manufacture Breguet therefore devised a piece that allowed the time to be read in a tactile manner, without removing the watch from the pocket. All the wearer had to do to check the time was to touch the arrow or hours hand turning around the case rim and compare its position with the hour projections on the case middle.

The current Tradition collection picks up Breguet's codes in a contrasting and contemporary way, as demonstrated by the Tradition Tourbillon 7047 model. This new timepiece is fitted with a midnight blue alligator leather strap secured by a triple-blade platinum folding clasp.

Breguet – MARINE Hora Mundi 5557 Gold

BREGUET MARINE Hora Mundi 5557 Dual-time Gold Automatic 2022

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Manufacture Breguet invites you to escape with a new interpretation of its Hora Mundi model within the Marine collection, a timepiece combining technical and aesthetic feats.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Travel at a click. The Hora Mundi became an instant hit at the time of its launch. This mechanical watch, which had taken three years to develop and been awarded four patents, featured a critical asset in the shape of an instant-change dual-time display with memory function.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This technical feat is accomplished via the pusher and crown. Having selected the first cities time and date, the owner of the watch need only set the second city. The watch mechanism then calculates the time and date by means of a clever system of cams, hammers and an integrated differential.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

At that point, simply pressing the pusher is enough to travel from one end of the planet to the other, all without disturbing the accurate running of the watch.

Visual escapism

The dial offers a fascinating interpretation of the world on the wrist by a play on materials and superimposed plates. On the first gold base, the hand-guilloché waves lap gently against the shores of the continents. The sunburst dial base attired in abyssal blue creates the impression of a permanent waltz of the wave motifs.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This effect may also be due to the way in which the continents are depicted: an additional plate made of sapphire is composed of the metallised meridians and the continents are treated to horizontal satin brushing, while their coastlines are subtly outlined with a metallic turquoise border. Finally, an outer flange serves as a support for the various elements present on the dial. The result features brilliantly crafted dimensions and surfaces thanks to various treatments requiring several weeks of work.

The importance of details

Making the dial legible while endowing each indication with a special aesthetic: for Breguet, luxury resides in the details – which is notably why the hours and minutes hands as well as the hour-markers are adorned with luminescent material ensuring nocturnal legibility. The Sun and Moon positioned at 4 o’clock are hand-hammered to create a strongly realistic result. While the sun is a luminous rose gold, the moon is rhodium-plated and exudes a mysterious grey appearance.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Displayed through a 12 o’clock aperture, the date features an additional retrograde hand ingeniously placed beneath the aperture dial and featuring a delicately rounded “U-shaped” tip serving to encircle the date of each passing day.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The subtle finish referred to as brouillage is an ancient watchmaking decoration that has been updated and creates a matt yet shiny effect. It also facilitates reading while remaining discreet.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The cities corresponding to the different time zones are indicated at 6 o'clock. A metallised anchor appearing above the window serves to determine the place whose current time you wish to consult.

A unique movement

The 43.9 mm-diameter case, available in a choice of white or rose gold, houses Calibre 77F1 whose balance oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz. This mechanical self-winding movement is fitted with an escapement made of silicon – a material with multiple properties that is resistant to both corrosion and wear.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

It is also insensitive to the effects of magnetic fields. Calibre 77F1 features a unique asset in the form of its patented additional modules for the dual time-zone mechanism, the second time-zone display, the programmable and reprogrammable mechanical memory wheel and the pointer-type day/night display.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Part of this exceptional mechanism with its 55-hour power reserve can be admired through the sapphire caseback, elegantly adorned with Côtes de Genève, guilloché and snailed finishing. Ready to travel the world, the new Marine Hora Mundi is available with either a leather strap, a rubber strap or a gold bracelet.

Breguet and the Navy

Recognised as an outstanding scientist and technician, Abraham-Louis Breguet linked his destiny to that of the French Navy in 1814 when he became a member of the Bureau des Longitudes by royal decree, alongside academics such as Delambre, Biot and Laplace. One of the bureau's roles was to solve astronomical problems related to the determination of longitude at sea. It was however one year later that King Louis XVIII awarded Breguet one of the most honourable titles of the era: that of Watchmaker to the Royal Navy. The fleets of the greatest explorers sailed equipped with a Breguet timekeeping system. Today, the Marine line with its elegant yet sporty look is one of the brand's emblematic collections.

BREGUET – CLASSIQUE 7145 CNY 2022 Edition

BREGUETCLASSIQUE 7145 CNY 2022 Rose Gold 40mm Edition

 7145 - Classique
2022, a tribute to the power
of the
Tiger

On the occasion of the Chinese New Year, Breguet is celebrating the Year of the Tiger with an eight-piece limited edition. The dial of this watch from the Classique collection showcases the in-house guilloché and engraving expertise. The result is a timepiece adorned with a Tiger whose beauty is equalled only by its strength – the Breguet Classique 7145 CNY 2022.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

A symbol of bravery, intelligence as well as energy, the Tiger is considered a sacred animal in China, and has been since antiquity. Its ferocity is feared as much as it is admired. These are all inspiring qualities for the Breguet brand, which is unveiling an interpretation of this great feline with its confident gait and gaze. To craft this watch from the Classique collection, the Manufacture’s artisans have combined the art of guilloché with that of engraving.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Using a play on perspectives, the dial motif is created in three stages. Firstly, the work begins with engraving the separation contours, part of the decoration and the Tiger on the gold using the bas relief technique, which consists of carving motifs in extremely small dimensions. These sculpted sections then need to be coloured in black to provide the desired depth and contrast. Finally, the rest of the motif is created using guilloché work. This artisanal method, which requires great dexterity, consists of working with a burin on the areas to be hollowed out according to an extremely precise motif. A week’s work is required to craft each dial. The result is a design in relief on which the great cat is depicted as approaching.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

The watch face also features the distinctive characteristics of the House, such as the engraved logo between 7 and 8 o’clock and the blued steel open-tipped Breguet hands that accompany the hours and minutes. The chapter ring is punctuated by discreet round gold hour-markers and the 40 mm case is crafted in 18-carat rose gold.

Ultra-thin performance

The Breguet Classique 7145 model combines traditional Haute Horlogerie refinement and aesthetic elegance. At its heart beats the hand-decorated ultra-thin self-winding 502.3 calibre. Developed in the 1960s, it remains one of the thinnest self-winding movements in production at just 2.4 mm – a modest thickness made possible by the design featuring an open-worked barrel and an off-centred oscillating weight. This unusual design makes it possible to perceive the mainspring which would otherwise be hidden. The movement is equipped with an inverted straight-line lever escapement with silicon horns and balance spring.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This 162-component movement beats at a frequency of 3 Hz and has a 45-hour power reserve. The sapphire crystal caseback reveals the gold oscillating weight, which is hand-guilloché with a circular barleycorn pattern.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

This timepiece, produced in an eight-piece limited series numbered from 1/8 to 8/8, is fitted with an alligator leather strap secured by a pink gold pin buckle.

Artistic crafts according to Breguet

At Breguet, artistic crafts are not merely a means of enhancing watchmaking mechanics. They are part of the DNA of the House, which has since 1775 consistently devoted equal importance to aesthetics, technique and innovation on the same level. Engraving, for example, has survived through the ages to become one of its defining features. The highly experienced engraving artisans have acquired the ability to respect an “artistic grammar” specific to the manufacture, while preserving their distinctive aesthetic vocabulary. Whereas line engraving (volute or scroll motifs) accounts for most of the work produced, other techniques such as relief and intaglio engraving are also part of Breguet‘s expertise. As too is the hand-engraving of letters and numbers on the back of watches, a detail that remain extremely rare within the watch industry.

Click, to see the large size. BIG FOTO

Guilloché work (also known as hand-engraving on a rose engine) is a heritage that Breguet has done more than merely preserve: some 30 guilloché lathes have been rebuilt within the Manufacture itself. While similar to the antique machines, they are endowed with the latest ergonomic, lighting, optical and precision equipment. The workshop thus equipped is one of the most important in the entire watchmaking industry and its artisans are capable of executing a wide variety of geometric patterns. With a view to perpetual renewal, a research and creative department, notably responsible for developing new motifs, has been specially dedicated to this art form.
