True to the original model, the Batman-DNA Gotham City timepiece is enhanced with the facetted bezel in black PVD-coated steel, reminiscent of the Batmobile. Each of the facets, either sand-blasted or polished, has been hand-finished and given RJ typical “rough” effect to mimic the roughness of Gotham City.

The bezel gives way to an all-black and sophisticated dial built on three layers. Thanks to a great 3D effect, Gotham City seems to be coming out of the dial. This striking perspective of Gotham City’s buildings is the result of a complex engraving process.

Orbital technique

RJ-Romain Jerome has once again teamed up with La Joux-Perret to produce the Moon Orbiter GMT.
Taking some aspects of the original model, the new timepiece is home to an automatic flying tourbillon
caliber, a made-to-measure movement which has been entirely redesigned.

Unprecedented for the brand, the Moon Orbiter GMT sports an additional complication at 12 o’clock,
developed exclusively for this model: a fully-integrated, jumping hour retrograde GMT feature.

The new time zone is accompanied by a day/night function, which is indicated by a fully-functional disc
engraved with the sun and stars. The complication is regulated by means of a dedicated pusher at 2
o’clock on the case, acting as the timepiece’s claws as the continuity of RJ-Romain Jerome famous X
symbol.

Set atop a ceramic ball bearing, this distinctive X shape is also to be found on the rear side of the case,
on the oscillating weight, balanced by inertia-blocks made from Moon SilverRJ, an alloy made of low
oxidation silver and genuine moon dust.

RJ-Romain Jerome’s unique spring piston lugs have been specially adapted for the new round case,
ensuring maximum comfort on the wrist.

Lunar aesthetics

The Moon Orbiter GMT marks a break from the previous model with a 48 mm rounded case, made
from steel incorporating elements from the Apollo 11 spacecraft.

In the centre, the dial is arranged around the brand’s iconic traverses, in which a flying tourbillon is
set at 9 o’clock, balanced by the time dial at 3 o’clock. The tourbillon is particularly remarkable for
its assertive aesthetics and for the bridges’ highly contemporary architecture.

Characteristics of the Moon Orbiter GMT, the plate and dial form one piece that is engraved with a
stellar pattern motif. It allows maximum visibility on the movement’s circular-grained components
and train, both on the dial and on the rear side.

Bringing a resolutely more contemporary touch, the redesigned hands feature a red tip as“a subtle
reminder of the red Moon,” says Manuel Emch. To complete the timepiece, the black alligator strap
has been enhanced with a red stitching.

Constituting a contemporary embodiment of fine watchmaking, the Moon Orbiter GMT timepiece
comes in a strictly limited edition of 25.

The new Tattoo-DNA by Xoil iss the meeting of two personalities and the result of genuine collaborative work between the Swiss watchmaker and the tattoo artist.

 Like street art, when tattooing is performed at a certain level, it becomes purely and simply art. This is the case of Xoil, whom I met in 2014. He had just finished the customisation of a car, a world in which he seemed to be an outsider and yet fully belonged, having applied the full scope of his talent to it. He was in his bubble, almost anachronistic, with his ability to reinterpret his art in a modern world. Xoil takes his inspiration from an older aesthetic and gives it a determinedly contemporary feel. That is also what we do in watchmaking. The Tattoo-DNA by Xoil project is a natural result of our union.

SKIN-DEEP AESTHETICS

Xoil has applied his art on watch straps as an extension of his world. Inspired by nineteenth century imagery, the artist has created five worlds, or systems, based on the themes of Belief, Balance, Feeling, Perception and Emotion, in which legendary animals and mythological figures are thrown alongside anatomical plates and esoteric symbols.

Each of these worlds is tattooed onto a board of five leather straps, with the illustrations overlapping from one bracelet to another. The 25 pieces adorning the Tattoo-DNA by Xoil collection are therefore unique and part of a harmonious whole guaranteed by the distinctive style of the artist and his very graphic tattoos which spread across the entire body, beyond the conventional areas.

BREAKING WITH CONVENTION... AND DIALS

The enamel dial of the new 44mm case timepiece echoes the many dials accumulated by Xoil, a fervent collector of curiosities. “As this is a highly classical aspect of watchmaking, very different from our identity, we didn’t want to approach it without making it our own,” explains Manuel Emch. “Many dials in Xoil’s collection were damaged and split. We decided to use them for inspiration and break our own, as we have always broken watchmaking conventions. It was the perfect continuation.”

The dial of the new Tattoo-DNA by Xoil has therefore been cut out with a water jet to reveal two separate and opposing parts. A Grand Feu enamel dial, decorated with Roman numerals and crafted in the watchmaking tradition, leaves room for a contemporary and skeletonised movement. Designed by RJ-Romain Jerome, the movement with right-angled bridges reveals the balance wheel at 6 o’clock, like a beating heart beneath tattooed skin.

The skeletonised small seconds ring, off-centred at 9 o’clock, was integrated into the dial to link the two worlds. And to accentuate the duality of the timepiece, RJ-Romain Jerome modernised the blue hands by reproducing the needles Xoil uses for his tattoos.

To finish the timepiece, RJ-Romain Jerome’s four characteristic paws secure the case, complete with hollowed lugs where the strap tattooed by Xoil takes its place.



The Tattoo-DNA by Xoil collection is limited to 25 unique pieces, each delivered with a certificate signed and numbered by the artist.

The DeLorean-DNA Burnout: at full speed!

Thirty years ago the iconic DeLorean sports car left a significant trace for generations to come as well as on the road! On this special day of October 21st 2015, RJ-Romain Jerome pays tribute to the DeLorean DMC-12 by unveiling a new timepiece, the Delorean-DNA Burnout.

In order to attain maximum speed and reach the targeted date, the emblematic 80’s car acts as a Time Machine whilst spinning its wheels and hitting the brakes. This process is called a “burnout” and leaves a trace as a result of the fusion between the tire’s rubber and the asphalt.

The textured dial of the DeLorean-DNA Burnout was made from this exceptional fusion of materials and is housed in a 46 mm steel case. The timepiece also features a brushed steel bezel containing elements from the original bodywork of the DMC sports car and the small seconds counter recalling the car’s dashboard with bright orange indexes.This new model is limited to only 30 pieces.

The Skylab timepiece has seduced many RJ-Romain Jerome fans with its distinctive design and complex skeleton dial. Inspired by NASA’s first space station, the Skylab timepiece is a testimony to Man’s technical achievements. 

RJ-Romain Jerome celebrates Historical milestones by conceptualising Legends and Icons into unique timepieces. In honour of these achievements, the iconoclastic brand has launched in 2014 its first skeleton timepiece, the Skylab.

For 2015, the design of this iconic timepiece has evolved and is now presented in a 48mm case. Reminding us of the complex structure of the original space station, the dial features a complex five layered skeleton which allows a perfect view of the mechanical movement.

The larger case beholds two sapphire glasses enhancing the view of the geometrical structured lines that are constructed around the heart of the timepiece. Composed of a single barrel at 12 o’clock, the skeleton movement also reveals the balance wheel at 6 o’clock. Furthermore the case has been made thinner to embrace its new size and further enhances the comfort of the timepiece.

These two additional timepieces stay true to the Moon-DNA collection with a Speed Metal model infused with Apollo 11 spacecraft steel inside the bezel whilst the red gold model evokes the brightness of astellar system visible for a spaceship’s porthole. Each watch is finished with a custom made black alligator strap.

The Skylab is the result of a thoughtfully crafted timepiece that combines a complex mechanism with an innovative design. Limited to 99 pieces per model, RJ-Romain Jerome creates once again a testimony to Man’s wildest dreams.
