LONGINES – HERITAGE Legend Diver Watch Black

LONGINES HERITAGE Legend DIVER Watch 1960s Black PVD Steel 42mm

The Longines Legend Diver Watch:
understated Elegance in black

Building on its rich history, Longines has chosen to revisit some of the historic timepieces upon which its reputation is founded. An iconic watch in the Swiss watchmaker’s Heritage line, The Longines Legend Diver Watch is the 1960s diving watch reimagined. Maintaining the style codes and design elements typical of the era, Longines has applied modern expertise to this contemporary edition to guarantee legibility, water-resistance and practicality. Longines presents a new version with black PVD coating that combines a modern look with traditional elegance and performance.

Longines has long been associated with the high-profile adventures of pioneers in their quest to push their limitations, especially when it comes to discovering the undersea world. The Longines Legend Diver Watch, a reimagination of a diving watch from the 1960s – the heyday of undersea exploration and military and sports diving – remains true to the bold styling that made the original timepiece such a great success. The Swiss watchmaker is now offering a black version that is emblematic of the combination of sports and elegance and that integrates the exclusive L888 caliber.

The lines of the original watch have been preserved, including the boxed glass and the bidirectional internal turning diving bezel, which serve as reminders of the technical limitations of the era. While upholding the 1960s spirit of this legendary timepiece, Longines has also equipped it with contemporary and high-performance technical characteristics, including a black PVD coating for a resolutely modern design, a sapphire crystal, two crowns and a screw-down back to guarantee water-resistance to 30 bar. The bezel is activated and stopped by the crown located at 2 o’clock, allowing the wearer to determine the remaining dive time.

The indexes, numerals and hands, adorned with Super LumiNova®, pop from the black lacquered dial for optimum legibility, which is further enhanced by the plain, clean typeface used for the numerals 6, 9 and 12. The steel case is coated with a 42 mm layer of black PVD, and contains an automatic mechanical movement that is exclusive to Longines, with the illustration of a diver engraved on the screw-down back.

A Milanese-style black rubber strap equipped with a folding titanium clasp treated with black PVD and an integrated diving extension complete this timepiece.

LONGINESHERITAGE Equestrian Pocket Watch Jockey 1878 Gold Limited Edition

The Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Jockey 1878 – an historical witness to the love story between Longines and equestrian sports

With its long involvement in and passion for equestrian sports, the Swiss watchmaking brand presents The Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Jockey 1878, an 18 carat rose gold pocket watch that is the replica of a model fitted with the first chronograph created by Longines. Produced in a very limited 20-piece numbered series, each timepiece is adorned on the back with an engraving of a jockey and his mount.

In 1878, thanks to new mechanical processes, the Swiss watchmaking brand Longines developed its first chronograph movement. This timepiece allowed one to measure performances to the second, and through it, Longines held a pre-eminent position on American racetracks as early as the end of the 19th century.

Additionally, the purpose of the production of this watch was crystallized, while one of the first series of models displayed a jockey accompanied by his mount. This chronograph was the first milestone in a long history that has led the Swiss watchmaking brand to partner with world-renowned institutions, races and jumping competitions around the globe. Today, Longines proudly reissues this exceptional piece.

LONGINES – Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch 1927-2017 - 90th Anniversary

LONGINESHERITAGE Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch 1927-2017 - 90th Anniversary Edition

Longines launches The Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch 90th Anniversary to commemorate Charles Lindbergh’s amazing feat

This year, Longines is celebrating the 90th anniversary of the first ever non-stop solo transatlantic flight, which was flown by Charles Lindbergh and timed by the Swiss watchmaker. For the occasion, the brand is presenting 90 timepieces in a numbered and limited edition of its hour angle watch, which was designed in partnership with the famed aviator following his historic flight. This exceptional titanium and steel timepiece is intended for those who are passionate about history, adventure and watchmaking.

New York, May 20, 1927, 7:52 a.m., the “Spirit of St. Louis” leaves Roosevelt Airport. Its destination: Le Bourget airport near Paris. At the controls: a young American pilot named Charles A. Lindbergh. Thirty-three and a half hours later, Lindbergh lands at Le Bourget after completing the first ever non-stop solo transatlantic flight. It was a historic feat. As official timekeeper for the World Air Sports Federation, Longines contributed to the homologation of this prowess by timing Lindbergh’s flight and adding it to the list of aviation records.

Shortly thereafter, a close collaboration between the aviator and the brand produced the Longines Hour Angle watch, a veritable icon in the history of the Swiss watchmaker. Designed by Charles Lindbergh himself in partnership with Longines, this watch allows for accurate determination of the longitude during long-distance flights. As a result, pilots and navigators can find their geographic location quickly, efficiently and with great accuracy.

Today, Longines commemorates the 90th Anniversary of Charles Lindbergh’s amazing feat and of its timekeeping, by releasing The Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch 90th Anniversary, a new edition of the legendary timepiece in a numbered series limited to 90 watches. Equally as impressive as the original timepiece, this model measures 47.5 mm, which makes it easier to read and manipulate in the dark and when subjected to the vibrations that were common to aircraft of the era.

It will draw the attention of admirers when worn on the wrist of today’s modern adventurers. Equipped with a rotating bezel that allows for correction of the equation of time and a rotating central dial that allows for synchronization to the second, this timepiece indicates the hour angle in degrees and in minutes of arc in addition to indicating hours, minutes and seconds. The understated brushed silver dial displays the time on a “railtrack” minute circle with painted Roman numerals, and features a 180° scale for calculating the longitude.

The synchronization of the second hand with a radio time signal is accomplished using the galvanic black rotating central dial, while the black PVD steel rotating bezel allows for daily variations in the time equation to be taken into account. A L699 automatic calibre is housed in the titanium case of the 90th Anniversary Lindbergh Hour Angle watch, which is adorned with a large steel crown that is easy to wind or set, even with gloved fingers. The brown leather aviator-type strap equipped with an extension that allows the watch to be attached to an oversized pilot’s jacket puts the finishing touch on this exceptional timepiece.

LONGINESHERITAGE 1945 Steel 40mm Automatic

The Longines Heritage 1945: Elegance and simplicity

In its 185 years of existence, Longines has laid milestones in the long history of watchmaking design. The brand often returns to its roots to enhance its Heritage line, attesting to the timeless style of its collections. Currently in the spotlight: a timepiece from 1945 in beige and coppery tones revisited in the spirit and respect of style codes from that period, that will delight lovers of vintage elegance and simplicity.

As a tribute to the watchmaking tradition that it has carried on for 185 years, the Swiss brand Longines occasionally draws inspiration from the richness of its numerous collections from years gone by. The Longines Heritage 1945 illustrates this desire to reproduce pieces whose design and elegance have withstood the test of time, having only acquired the patina of style. It is meant for those who want to adorn their wrist with a timepiece with clean lines and a vintage look.

The Longines Heritage 1945 elegantly marries the sturdiness of its steel case with the warm tones of its brushed coppery dial and the velvety nuances of its aged-looking leather strap. Balance is heightened by the bluish steel hands, leaf style for the hours/minutes and baton style for the small second in the centre. The hour circle alternately displays Arabic numerals and silvery cabochons, which are respectively traced and stamped onto a convex dial, perfecting the pure style of this iconic mid-twentieth century piece.
