EBERHARD & CO. – Scafograf 300

EBERHARD & CO. Scafograf 300 Automatic NEW

For the presentation of one of its latest creations,
Eberhard & Co. takes a walk down its memory lane…

It was the 1950s when Eberhard & Co. decided to take on a challenge that has, from time immemorial, always fascinated men – the sea and its mysterious depths.

While Hemingway was writing one of his greatest works, “The old man and the sea”, which dealt with subjects such as courage and man’s tenacity in the face of the ocean, Eberhard & Co. presented its Scafograf collection, designed to be worn by the adventurous and sporty with a dynamic spirit and love of life.
Enriched over the years, the collection was made up of steel models which were water-resistant to 100, 200, 300, 400, 750 or 1000 metres, with or without a rotating bezel and luminescent hour markers.

The Scafograf 300 incorporated all the main features required of a dive watch: automatic with a sturdy, shock-resistant steel case (Ø 42.5 mm), water-resistance to 300m, a graduated black bezel to control elapsed dive time, a high-contrast dial with luminescent hands and markers and a stainless steel expandable bracelet. The date at 3 o'clock - unusual for a dive watch - and the look of this model made it agreeably suitable for every day wear.

Eberhard & Co. now presents a new edition of this model, reinterpreted in a contemporary way.
The new Scafograf 300 is a mechanical, self-winding diving watch, with a Ø 43 mm steel case, an unidirectional rotating bezel in ceramic, with luminescent markings on the first 15 minutes scale, curved sapphire glass and a helium escape valve at 9 o’clock.

The “galbé” black dial has luminescent applied indices and the date at 3 o'clock. The name of the model, the central seconds hand and the dots can be white, light blue or yellow. The hours and minutes hands are also luminescent.

The clean and precise lines of the  Scafograf 300 are also well suited to a more casual-chic use out of the water.

EBERHARD & CO. – CONTOGRAF Chronograph

EBERHARD & CO. CONTOGRAF Chronograph Edition NEW

TRIBUTE TO CONTOGRAF - 1960s

On the occasion of the prestigious Baselworld 2014 exhibition Eberhard & Co. presents the world preview of the new Contograf, re-edition of the 1960’s Brand’s creation of the same name, emblem of its era thanks to its innovative features.

The company, which bears the name of the founding watchmaker, Georges Eberhard, was created in 1887.

This makes it one of the oldest companies which in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, a small village in the Swiss Canton of Neuchâtel, invented the craft of watchmaking, established its criteria and spread its values.

To preserve the memory and to offer today’s enthusiasts the chance to wear one of these historic timepieces, Eberhard has started revisiting various points on its long adventure by relaunching some of the milestone timepieces from its past.

One of them is the Extra-fort, reissued to celebrate one of the classic chronographs from the 1940s - protagonist of several international auctions - which has now become one of the company’s best-selling models. The next chapter will be told by the Tribute to Contograf, contemporary interpretation of a creation from the 1960’s.

An era of optimism, lively creativity and innovation, and also of growing wealth which, among other things, allowed more people to buy fine objects which until then had been considered a privilege for the few, mechanical watches from Switzerland.

The 1960’s Contograf boasted some very innovative characteristics, in the pure style of a watchmaker which has always been ahead of its time. It was a precision chronograph with two counters and a large date window at the 6 o’clock position, featuring a fast-changing date, something of a revolution at the time.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

This feature and its waterproof buttons made it a piece for everyday use, helping promote the view of a watch as an indispensable accessory. One interesting element was the minute counter, divided into three units and designed to measure the duration of a telephone call, at a time when long-distance or even international calls were undertaken with a degree of caution...

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...            BIG FOTO

Most of these original features have been maintained in the new 2014 edition, but there is no shortage of innovative details: the new ceramic bezel with unidirectional rotation serves as a frame for the tachymeter scale inspired by automotive design.

The caseback is screwd-in like in the original version and contains the inscription “Tribute to Contograf - 1960s”.

The date window at 6 o’clock has kept its particular trapezoidal shape. The innovations include the new metallic bracelet Chassis and an original black leather strap with a “red arrow” embroidered detail . The deployment buckle Déclic (Patented) is available as an accessory.

The 8147 calibre (base ETA 7750 13¼) guarantees the reliability and precision that have made Eberhard & Co. one of the points of reference for mechanical chronographs.

Eberhard & Co. - Scafodat 500

Eberhard & Co. - Scafodat 500

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

Scafodat is the name of the diving-watch collection for professional use; it resumes and actualises the Eberhard & Co.’s tradition in sport watches with technical features. The ingenuity of its production and the careful selection of the materials make Scafodat water-resistant down to 500 m.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

Scafodat is characterised by such interesting technical details as the big crown located at 4 o'clock, equipped with a special security device. The crown activates the inner rotating flange, protected by a non-reflecting sapphire glass, which is especially useful for indicating diving times on a sexagesimal basis. The security valve is fitted on the middle part. It works automatically and sees to it that helium escapes in the decompression phase.

Scafodat comes in steel; it has a Swiss ETA mechanical automatic movement and screw-in crown. The caseback is locked by screws, and an individual feature of it is the traditional seahorse image that was inspired by the original design registered in 1958.

The black dials have triangular indexes warranting high-grade readability both in the classical and sportive versions.

Scafodat is available with the special Chicane bracelet in steel with an innovative system to lengthen it (Patented) and the Déclic deployment clasp (Patented), or with an ergonomic rubber strap devised for optimum wearing comfort.

Eberhard & Co. - Tazio Nuvolari Naked Chronograph

Eberhard & Co. - Tazio Nuvolari "Naked" Chronograph New

TAZIO NUVOLARI VANDERBILT CUP: THE NEW "NAKED” MODEL
DETERMINATION AND THE SPIRIT OF A WINNER

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

1936 Tazio Nuvolari drives his 12-cylinder Alfa Romeo 300 miles to an extraordinary triumph on the Roosevelt Raceway in New York State. Tazio and his Vanderbilt Cup make racing history.

2013 – The exclusive new addition to the Tazio NuvolariVanderbilt Cup cult collection by Eberhard & Co., dedicated to one of the legendary driver’s most prestigious victories, will add a touch of elegance and even greater temperament to one of the house’s most beloved timepieces for sportsmen thanks to the dial with total black look.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

A mechanical, self-winding, waterproof chronograph with sapphire crystals, it is the first of the Tazio Nuvolari–Vanderbilt Cup series to have a black dial with white arabic numerals and it offers important technical details inspired by the past but interpreted for our time. Like the other chronographs of the collection, the timer button is coaxial with the crown, reminiscent of the Eberhard & Co. coaxial chronographs of the 1930s. The watchcase is lighter than in previous versions because there is no back plate, thus the definition NAKED. More familiar to motor buffs, this term refers to cars without body panels so the details of the motor are visible. In the same way, the naked version of the Vanderbilt Cup movement can be admired through the back sapphire crystal. Nuvolari’s autograph is also screenprinted on the back.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...

The 42 mm diameter of the circular watch case is generous, it is waterproof to 30 metres and it has all the characteristic qualities and exclusive features of the Tazio Nuvolari – Vanderbilt Cup collection by Eberhard & Co. The watch dial is particularly striking, with a design that recalls dashboard instruments of vintage sports cars. The dial is also marked with the legendary driver’s initials, TN.
With a superbly refined self-winding movement (30 rubies, blue screws, perlage and Côte de Genève finishing) guaranteeing at least 42 hours of autonomy, the new Eberhard & Co. chronograph has the classic trio of counters for hours, minutes and a second hand sweep; arabic numerals and hands are white.
The black leather wristband has contrasting white top-stitching and a bespoke E&Co. buckle.

Eberhard - Champion V

EBERHARD & CO. Champion V chronograph

Eberhard & Co was founded in La Chaux de Fonds in 1887 by Swiss industrialist George-Emile Eberhard. This year it celebrates its 125th anniversary, and part of the celebrations include the launch of a new Champion watch – Champion V which was on display at SIHH 2012.

In 1907 the brand had become one of the largest of the Swiss marques and its headquarters took up an entire block in the centre of La Chaux de Fonds.

The 1930s saw Eberhard & Co manufacturing some of the most innovative watches of the day.

This trend continued and by the late 80’s the brand started to focus exclusively on the luxury end of watchmaking. At the start of the 1990s, the Swiss Maison launched the Champion collection, giving it a more contemporary look.

Waterproof to 40 metres, the watch is housed in a 42.80 mm steel case, with convex sapphire crystal, the back is secured by 6 screws. The dial and bezel come in an assortment of dial and bezel colour combinations.

Champion V is an elegant mechanical chronograph with automatic winding.  It runs on an ETA 7750 movement with 3 counters 30 minutes, 12 hours and small-seconds with the date at 4 o’clock.

There’s a choice of wristbands including a leather strap with the buckle personalised “E&Co.”, or a steel “Chablis” bracelet.
