DeWitt – Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon

DeWitt Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon White Gold Limited Edition NEW

Transparency and precision

The DeWitt calibre DW8028s uses age-old, recognized and highly reliable technical parameters in its construction: 18’000 A/h, a variable-inertia balance, a 44° angle escapement and 72 hours power reserve.

Entirely produced in-house, this manually wound Tourbillon is equipped with a Swiss anchor escapement and a spiral made out of an unbreakable, self-compensating, non-oxidizing, anti-magnetic alloy and sequenced at 2.5 Hz. The perfect homogeneity and incredibly precise flat rolling of the Hairspring (0,0001 mm) guarantee an extremely high precision to the mechanism.

The balance, as well as the escape wheel and the anchor are made of 18-carat yellow gold.

Architectural strength and finesse

The Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon does not intend to compete with the ultra-skinny and fragile skeletons where as much material as possible was taken out of the construction. The architecture of DeWitt’s skeleton remains deliberately strong and is therefore very well balanced with the design of the case which features 48 imperial columns. A typical feature of practically all DeWitt masterpieces.

The carved-out main plate, a sand-brushed nickel silver base with blue PVD surface finishing. Meandering across the movement, the lucky observer will suddenly land on a stunning skeletonised “W” logo positioned at 9 o’clock. The play on depths, perspectives and layers is a typical feature of DeWitt designs and the Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon is no exception. The skeletonised “W” logo is actually duplicated on the lower part of the movement in order to offer these interesting volumes when admiring the movement from either side of the watch.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...         BIG FOTO

But however robust the foundations, your eyes will inevitably be dragged deep into the movement and the captivating finesse of its ticking mechanics. You will marvel at the Tourbillon as it gracefully rotates on its axis, held in place by a long, slender and circular-grained Art Déco bridge.

An authentic piece of art

The barrel, positioned at 12 o’clock, is also skeletonised in order to reveal the interior of the motor.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...         BIG FOTO

The shape given to the open-worked barrel was inspired by the design of vintage car steering wheels. As the barrel wheel gently turns with the unwinding of the spring, the stems of the upper part will glide over the stems of the lower part. Yet another interesting play on layers by DeWitt.

A successful match

The Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon is housed in a 43 mm round case made in 18-carat white gold. Presenting particularly comfortable proportions with redesigned lugs and slightly more discrete imperial columns displayed on its flanks, it remains instantly recognizable and true to DeWitt’s strong DNA.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...         BIG FOTO

Its balanced design offers the necessary combination of character and refinement for a successful wedding with the architectural lines of the skeleton movement.

Dewitt and its passion for exceptional

The Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon fully complies with the very demanding finishing norms of the DeWitt Manufacture. Entirely hand-made, the treatment and finishing-work on this piece are of a rare quality. Case, plate, bridges, wheels and even miniature screws are all angled, polished, satin-finished and treated to perfection in the patient and meticulous hands of our watchmakers.

Last but not least, a particularity of all watches coming out of the DeWitt Manufacture, every high complication watch is entirely assembled, adjusted and tested by a single master watchmaker.

DeWitt – ACADEMIA Out of Time – Unique Piece for Only Watch 2015

DeWittACADEMIA Out of Time Rose GoldUnique Piece for Only Watch 2015

ACADEMIA OUT OF TIME
UNIQUE PIECE FOR ONLY WATCH 2015

The DeWitt Manufacture is honoured to be participating in the Only Watch 2015 auction to support research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The event will take place in Monaco on the 7th November under the patronage and in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II.

Participating in each sale since 2005, DeWitt will this year unveil a new and truly exceptional creation: the Academia Out of Time Unique Piece watch.

The Academia Out of Time watch is driven by a self-winding DeWitt calibre, entirely developed, produced and assembled by hand by our master watchmakers at the Meyrin Manufacture in Geneva, Switzerland.

The mastermind behind this patented invention, Jérôme de Witt, the founder of the Manufacture, gives us a highly personal interpretation of time with a combination of a bold design and a grand watch complication.

This innovative watch structure is made up of the automatic DeWitt calibre and two elaborate complications: a dead-beat seconds hand, which serves as both a regulator and an indicator of the seconds function in the display at 4 o'clock, and a free seconds hand, a DeWitt invention, in the display at 8 o'clock.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

These two functions symbolise the contrast between real time on one hand, and on the other, virtual time, which cannot be controlled, measured or recovered.

The motif on the dial – a mist given off by mountains and rising towards a clear, starry sky – seems to encourage having faith in life. It is depicted against a sky blue lacquer background highlighted by specks of silver.

DeWitt – High Jewellery Princess Marie-Clotilde

DeWittHigh Jewellery Princess Marie-Clotilde White Gold

The DeWitt Manufacture has created a masterpiece of
the watchmaker's and the jeweller's art: a unique timepiece
with transparent features and finely-worked gold decoration

Count Jérôme de Witt, the founder of the Manufacture and creator of DeWitt watches created this exceptional High Jewellery work of art, a masterpiece of both the watchmaker's and the jeweller's art, with the intention of paying tribute to his mother, HI&RH Princess Marie-Clotilde Napoléon.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ...                     BIG FOTO

The gem-setting technique used in this piece is ground-breaking, seeming to leave the diamonds in suspension, free of all ties of material and form.

The observer's gaze is relentlessly drawn down into the depths of a translucent block and captivated by its surprising transparency.

This High Jewellery timepiece is adorned with a total of 405 baguette-cut diamonds (totalling about 13 carats).

The emblematic imperial columns that decorate the majority of DeWitt watches have been delicately reworked to enhance the timepiece's unique, ethereal setting.

With its 36-mm diameter, the Marie-Clotilde watch beats to the rhythm of a mechanical self-winding movement, equipped with a 42-hour power reserve.

The open-worked hours hand is delicately sculpted in the shape of a heart, while the open-worked seconds hand is in the form of a double-edged sword, a common feature of DeWitt timepieces.

The crown and buckle, each crafted in 18-carat white gold, polished and delicately engraved with the brand's distinctive ‘W’ signature, give an additional elegant touch to the watch's finishes, enhanced by a deep red alligator wristband.

By placing technical expertise at the service of beauty and the highest quality, the DeWitt Manufacture has here produced an authentic watchmaking work of art, creative in both its design and in the structure around which it is built.

DeWitt – ACADEMIA Mathematical Rose Gold Concept Watch No. 4

DeWittACADEMIA Mathematical Rose Gold Concept Watch No. 4 Limited Edition NEW

DeWitt unveils an extraordinary technical innovation, an automatic
watch with a prestigious watchmaking tradition behind it – in the form
of a mysterious watch that has no hands.

Entirely designed and hand-assembled within the Manufacture by our own master watchmakers, the Academia Mathematical watch, DeWitt's 4th Concept Watch, is the fruit of months of research and development.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

DeWitt's mystery watch concept bears witness to the passionate interest in mathematics shown by its founder, Jérôme de Witt. Far removed from the conventions of traditional watchmaking, the numerals indicating the hours and minutes give the impression that they have been scattered, thrown into chaos so that in the end they can give the precise time. There are no hands, but rather totally autonomous jumping numerals that come to life by lighting up in the centre of the watch to indicate the passage of time.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

It is thus that a grand watch complication, with its complex mechanisms and painstaking precision, places itself at the service of poetry.

Comprising 384 pieces, the Mathematical movement is based on the new DeWitt Manufacture automatic calibre, most of the components of which have been produced in-house, and all of which have been hand-assembled by our master watchmakers.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

It operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and features a screwed balance and a 48-hour power reserve. With its bridges decorated with both circular and bevelled Côtes de Genève patterns and its circular-grained mainplate, all the movement's finishes are hand-crafted.

Fitted with a 42.5 mm round case in 18-carat rose gold, the Academia Mathematical watch is adorned, like all DeWitt watch creations, with the brand's emblematic imperial columns.

An entire watch concept rather than just a watch

Its aesthetic design and mechanical structure reflect DeWitt's uniquely inventive approach to watchmaking, culminating in a myriad of fascinating calculations that drive relentlessly towards the nature of universal beauty.

DeWitt – ACADEMIA Out of Time

DeWittACADEMIA Out of Time Rose Gold NEW

With its strong symbolism and innovative technical approach, the Academia Out of Time model forms a new addition to the DeWitt Manufacture's series of emblematic watch creations.

The mastermind behind this patented invention, Jérôme de Witt, the founder of the Manufacture and creator of DeWitt watches, gives us a highly personal interpretation of time with a combination of a bold design and a grand watch complication.

Housed in a round 42.5 mm diameter case, the Academia Out of Time watch is driven by an automatic DeWitt calibre indicating the hours, minutes and seconds, and entirely developed, produced and assembled by hand by our master watchmakers at the Meyrin Manufacture in Geneva.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

Robust and reliable with its 21,600 vibrations per hour and its 65-hour power reserve, the Out of Time version is equipped with two elaborate complications: a dead-beat seconds hand, which serves as both a regulator and an indicator of the seconds function in the display at 4 o'clock, and a free seconds hand, a DeWitt invention, in the display at 8 o'clock.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

These 2 functions represent the opposition between real time, in the form of regulator function of the dead-beat seconds hand that momentarily halts at each second, and virtual time, freely following its wild and endless course.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

Creating an interplay of contrasting effects through the combination of traditional and innovative materials, the Academia Out of Time's case is crafted in 18-carat rose gold and black rubber, with a subtle recreation of the famous imperial columns, the distinctive signature of DeWitt watch creations.

The elegant design of the dials, available in three shades of lacquer (black, white or blue), showcases the two gold-encircled counters displaying the complications.

Like all DeWitt watch creations, it perfectly meets the very high standard of finishes endorsed by the Manufacture. We also find two small "W" signatures on the crown and on the buckle.

Dewitt – ACADEMIA Grand Tourbillon

DeWittACADEMIA Grand Tourbillon Blue and Green Limited Edition NEW

DeWitt is unveiling its latest technical innovation, the Academia
Grand Tourbillon watch, a limited edition of 99 pieces, entirely
conceived and assembled at the DeWitt Manufacture by its own
master watchmakers.

This new Academia creation houses the calibre DW 8030, developed from the DW 8028 movement, the Manufacture's first 100% in-house manually-wound tourbillon movement, first presented in 2010. Built out of 327 component parts, this calibre is structured along traditional lines and incorporates numerous tried and tested technical features: 18,000 vph, a 65-hour power reserve, a Swiss lever escapement and a Straumann balance-spring with Phillips curve sequenced at 2.5 Hz.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

For its part, the time display in the form of a jumping hour and minute indication reflects DeWitt's unique creativity and ground-breaking approach, far removed from the codes of conventional watchmaking. For the setting of the hours, a rack mechanism is activated to give added mobility to the watch's dial. As each minute passes, a slip-spring moves into place, drawing the observer's eyes once again to the depths of this sophisticated mechanism.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

The dial is made up of a silvered grid linked to the watch's movement that recalls the inner workings of industrial machinery at the beginning of the 20th century. The date is displayed in a rose gold colour tone in a window at 3 o'clock and is adjustable by a corrector situated on the side of the case.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

Equipped with a circular 46 mm rose gold case adorned with the famous imperial columns, the Academia Grand Tourbillon watch is one of DeWitt's most emblematic timepieces.

On the reverse side of the watch the sapphire case back reveals a day and night indicator, which takes on a blue colour tone to indicate night-time and a white colour tone to indicate day-time hours.

Like every DeWitt tourbillon, the Academia Grand Tourbillon watch bears the signature of the watchmaker who assembled the timepiece, inscribed on the decorative silvered grid located on the back of the movement. In order to ensure perfect quality, DeWitt makes it a point of honour that each grand complication movement should be assembled, set and tested by the same master watchmaker.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

Last but not least, the Academia Grand Tourbillon watch fully complies with the extremely demanding finishing norms established by the DeWitt Manufacture. Crafted exclusively by hand, this model features finishes of rare quality that can be observed by looking at its sapphire case back. The barrel bridge is sandblasted with a "Black Gold" treatment, the balance has a rose gold colour tone and the carriage bar is satin-finished and rhodium-plated.

Click on the mouse wheel to see the large size ....                    BIG FOTO

The crown and the buckle are each crafted in 18-carat rose gold and adorned with the brand's "W" signature initial. With its flawless movement and powerful allure, the Adademia Grand Tourbillon watch combines the very best of traditional craftsmanship with the technical and aesthetic innovation that is characteristic of all watch designs by Jérôme de Witt.
