A finely faceted case with razor-sharp lines and a bracelet to match, an enigmatic dial with distinctive applied hour markers, and a Manufacture Calibre with time-honoured finishing that stands apart. This is a new watch with a name that carries a century-old legacy. All hail the new TUDOR Monarch!

A pure approach to watchmaking is king at TUDOR, and horological tradition reigns supreme. The core mission has always been to build the best possible watch at the best possible price for a century now; the only thing that’s changed is the approach TUDOR takes to meet this goal.

Rolex - Oyster Gold 9ct Vintage (1926)

In the beginning, long ago in 1926, the brand relied exclusively on independent suppliers. In recent times, TUDOR has built its own industrial network that has aided in achieving the Master Chronometer certification by METAS, the most demanding standard in the industry.

The new Monarch is testament to just how far TUDOR has come; it encapsulates a century’s worth of progress. Using the highest-grade components developed from the brand’s network of in-house and independent suppliers, TUDOR is revisiting one of its historical lines and imbuing it with a century’s worth of savoir-faire.

While the aesthetic of this new Monarch is reminiscent of TUDOR’s early days, with its signature finely faceted case and matching bracelet and papyrus-toned dial with distinctive applied hour markers, its execution and level of performance is only possible today using the incredibly high precision production process that TUDOR has created within its Le Locle Manufacture.

TUDOR QUALITY

With the introduction of this brand-new Monarch, TUDOR has successfully submitted yet another model for tests to obtain the Master Chronometer certification.

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

This is part of a constant bid to improve the quality of its products and another step towards a future where the entire TUDOR collection will be Master Chronometer certified. This certification, offered by a Swiss government body, METAS, requires a substantial number of changes to a regular TUDOR Manufacture Calibre and comes as an independent confirmation of the exceptional quality of TUDOR watches.

COMPREHENSIVE INDEPENDENT CERTIFICATION AND HIGH STANDARDS

The METAS Master Chronometer certification is comprehensive and covers the main functional characteristics of a watch including precision, resistance to magnetic fields, waterproofness and power reserve.

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

Its standards are incredibly high, starting with precision. In order to qualify, a watch must be able to function within a 5-second range of variation each day (0/+5), that is to say 5 seconds less than the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) (-4/+6) carried out on a single movement and a second less than TUDOR's internal standard (-2/+4), which is applied to the brand's models with a Manufacture Calibre.

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

The certification also guarantees the timekeeping accuracy of a watch subjected to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. Finally, it also guarantees the waterproofness claimed by the manufacturer as well as the power reserve.

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

It should also be noted that two prerequisites are necessary before the certification can be obtained: Swiss manufacturing must conform with the criteria of Swiss Made, and the movement must be certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

CRITERIA AND TESTS FOR MASTER CHRONOMETER CERTIFICATION BY METAS

All the tests and prerequisites leading to the Master Chronometer certification, which the Monarch has achieved, are summarised below:

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

    • Swiss Made
    • Certification by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC)
    • Precision at two temperatures, in six positions and at two levels of power reserve: 100% and 33%
    • Smooth functioning when exposed to a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss and precision following exposure
    • Waterproof to 100m (330 ft)
    • 65-hour power reserve

TIME-HONOURED LOOK

The Monarch points to early TUDOR visual execution, with a distinctive Error-Proof-style dial that incorporates two different styles of numerals: Roman from 10 to 2 and Arabic from 4 to 8.

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

The hue and texture of the dial is akin to papyrus, the ancient material made from processed pith that was used throughout Egypt and the Classical world. In this case, it lends a classical aesthetic to the Monarch.

The distinctive faceted stainless steel case and the sharp bracelet all bring the centenary aesthetic language of TUDOR into the modern era.

The unusual nature of the Monarch, a mainstay in TUDOR’s line up for half a century, is exactly what makes it stand out in TUDOR’s range.

THE MANUFACTURE CALIBRE MT5662-2U

A full display case back frames a movement unique to the TUDOR Monarch. The Manufacture Calibre MT5662-2U displays centre hours and minutes, small seconds at 6 o’clock. All the finishing hallmarks of traditional watchmaking are present, like perlage on the mainplate, Côtes de Genève on the bridges, and an 18ct gold inlay on the rotor.

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

The build of the Manufacture Calibre MT5662-2U is designed to ensure robustness and precision. To do this, the variable inertia balance wheel is maintained by a sturdy traversing bridge with two-point anchoring. It is certified as a chronometer by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), with its performance going beyond the standards set by this independent institute.

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

In fact, where COSC allows an average variation in the daily rate of an uncased movement of between -4 and +6 seconds and TUDOR applies a 6-second (-2/+4) variation standard on its fully assembled watches, METAS requires a Master-Chronometer-certified watch to run within a tolerance range of 5 seconds (0/+5). Not only is the Manufacture Calibre MT5662-2U certified to be more accurate, it is also rated as anti-magnetic, making it impervious to magnetic fields below 15,000 gauss.

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

Another notable feature is that the power reserve of the Manufacture Calibre MT5662-2U is “weekend-proof”; that is to say, it has been certified for 65 hours by METAS, which enables the wearer to take the watch off on a Friday evening and put it back on again on Monday morning without having to wind it. Even if you need a weekend away, your watch does not.

THE TUDOR MANUFACTURE

Every TUDOR watch is assembled and fully tested to TUDOR’s superior standards at the new TUDOR Manufacture located in Le Locle, Switzerland. This new state-of-the-art facility, bringing together the know-how of watchmakers with the best in production management and automated testing systems, was completed in 2021 after three years of construction.

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

All decked out in TUDOR red, the Manufacture spans over four levels totalling 5,500 square meters and is physically and visually connected to the neighbouring Kenissi Manufacture, the TUDOR movement production facility founded in 2016. With Kenissi and a network of TUDOR-owned affiliates, the brand has been able to integrate the development and production of high-performance mechanical calibres. As a consequence, TUDOR now fully masters the manufacturing of strategic components and can guarantee their quality.

THE TUDOR GUARANTEE

Since its creation by Hans Wilsdorf in 1926, and in line with his vision of an ideal watchmaking product, TUDOR has never stopped producing the most robust, durable, reliable and precise watches in existence today.

Bolstered by this experience, and confident in the knowledge of the superior quality of its watches, TUDOR offers a five-year guarantee on all its products.

This guarantee does not require the watch to be registered or any periodic maintenance checks to be performed and is transferable should the watch change ownership during coverage. TUDOR also recommends that its watches should be serviced approximately every 10 years depending on the model and the extent of its use on a day-to-day basis.

TUDOR IS "BORN TO DARE"

In 2017, TUDOR launched a new campaign with the "Born To Dare" signature. It reflects both the history of the brand and what it stands for today. It tells the adventures of individuals who have achieved the extraordinary on land, on ice, in the air and underwater, with a TUDOR watch on their wrists.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

It also refers to the vision of Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of TUDOR, who manufactured TUDOR watches to withstand the most extreme conditions, watches made for the most daring lifestyles. It is testimony to TUDOR’s singular approach to watchmaking, which has made it what it is today.

TUDOR – HERITAGE Black Bay Ceramic 41 mm All Black Matt Chronometer - 2026

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

TUDOR’s Black Bay Ceramic model has been a symbol of the brand's technical expertise since its release in 2021. Now it comes with a new blacked-out aesthetic and another technical marvel: a matching ceramic bracelet. The watch is testament to technical mastery both in terms of the movement manufacturing and performance as well as material science.

Click, to see the large size. ▶  BIG FOTO

The Black Bay Ceramic is a prime example of TUDOR's expert command of one of the industry's most demanding standards in terms of chronometry and resistance to magnetic fields, as well as its mastery of technical material engineering. Tested by the Federal Institute of Metrology or METAS, this Black Bay model is the epitome of high-tech aesthetic language. Its matt black ceramic elements, charcoal dial and black hands, including lume, accentuate the Black Bay Ceramic’s outstanding performance.

Ceramic is a difficult material to work with, but now TUDOR has developed a matching ceramic bracelet with ergonomic qualities that serve as testament to the brand’s mastery of technical innovation, as well as a new aesthetic in line with TUDOR’s tradition of "going dark".

KEY POINTS
    1. Ceramic three-link bracelet, newly engineered and designed by TUDOR, with a double folding clasp
    2. 41mm diameter case in matt black ceramic
    3. Subtly domed sunray satin finish black dial with applied hour markers
    4. "Snowflake" hands, one of the hallmarks of TUDOR introduced in 1969, with Grade A Swiss Super-LumiNova® luminescent material
    5. Manufacture Calibre MT5602-U, certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), with a silicon hairspring and a 70-hour power reserve
    6. Master Chronometer certification

TUDOR QUALITY

TUDOR has successfully submitted its Black Bay Ceramic model for tests to obtain a Master Chronometer certification as part of a constant bid to improve the quality of its products.

GOING DARK WITH A NEW LOOK

Aesthetically, the TUDOR Black Bay Ceramic combines contemporary, high-tech details with a bold, blacked-out theme. Its matt black monobloc ceramic case has sand-blasted surfaces with bevelled edges, mirror-polished for a striking contrast, and is finished with very pronounced lines. The all-ceramic bracelet is light on the wrist and makes the watch easy to wear. The insert of its rotatable bezel is also in black ceramic with a sunray satin finish.

The engraved graduations in matching tones offer an additional complementary matt detail, which responds subtly to changes in light. Its dial is also black-on-black (actually black-on-charcoal, but you get the idea), including its applied hour markers with "dark" luminescent material. In other words, this watch is all black. It’s a totem to technical mastery and for that, TUDOR continued the tradition of "going dark" with a blacked-out aesthetic.

THE MANUFACTURE CALIBRE MT5602-U

The Manufacture Calibre MT5602-U, which powers the Black Bay Ceramic, displays hour, minute and seconds functions. It offers the general look and feel of TUDOR Manufacture Calibres with a dedicated sun laser design and bears the Master Chronometer mention on its bridges, emphasising its distinctive performance. Its rotor is fashioned in tungsten monobloc and is openworked. It also features the distinctive laser radial grooving with sand-blasted details. Its bridges and mainplate have alternate sand-blasted and polished surfaces and laser decorations.

THE ESSENCE OF BLACK BAY

Like other models in the Black Bay range, the Ceramic adopts TUDOR's characteristic angular hands known as "Snowflake" that appeared in the brand’s 1969 catalogue. The result of a subtle blend of traditional aesthetics and contemporary watchmaking, the Black Bay line is far from simply being an identical rerelease of a classic.

Resolutely anchored in the present, it brings together over seven decades of TUDOR diving watches. Whilst it is neo-vintage in conception, its manufacturing techniques and its robustness, reliability, durability and precision as well as the quality of its finish are above modern industry standards.

THE TUDOR MANUFACTURE

Every TUDOR watch is assembled and fully tested to TUDOR’s superior standards at the new TUDOR Manufacture located in Le Locle, Switzerland.  The New Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow”

2016 was the last year that Fabian Cancellara competed in France. Now in 2025, he’s returning to the absolute pinnacle of professional cycling not as a rider — but as a team owner. And to celebrate his exceptional record during past years he’ll be wearing a touch of yellow on his wrist, a brand new Pelagos FXD Chrono produced in extremely limited quantities.

Fabian Cancellara has a special relationship with the most storied cycling event in the world, having led the race -- or worn the yellow jersey as cycling afficionados say -- for a total of 29 days, not to mention eight stage victories.

His return to France this year as a team owner running a team that was simply an idea three years ago points to the powerful notion that progress doesn’t happen by accident. It’s a product of commitment and consistency.

On his wrist is the Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow”, a totem to his days battling France’s most challenging roads in the brutal summer heat. You could also say it’s his lucky charm when facing challenges to come. Just 300 numbered examples of this watch will be produced. Number 7 is already spoken for, as that’s Fabian Cancellara’s signature number.

He hasn’t been back to the Tour in any form — as a spectator, team owner, or cycling legend — since 2016 when he rode in it for the last time and retired shortly after.

“Every child has heroes; someone they look up to. For me, it was the Tour that produced those heroes. This was where my personal heroes were formed,” he says.

“It’s more than just a bike race, it signifies to the world that you are the leader in this field,” and in this case, it’s Tudor Pro Cycling Team, led by Cancellara, that’s filling the shoes of the heroes that Fabian once looked up to all those years ago.

“The pain is temporary—we’re going to do this every day and every night and we need to die for each other. And while the pain is temporary, the memories from this race last forever,” he says. And he would know When he entered the scene in 2004 he was relatively unknown.

It was the prologue race of the Tour that took his career from an emerging rider to a rising star on the international stage.

“I have my memories of the Tour. They will be with me forever. Now it’s time for the team to make their own,” he says.
