LOUIS MOINET – STELLARIUM Tourbillon Gold Edition

LOUIS MOINET – Cosmic Art Tourbillon STELLARIUM Gold Edition - 2026

 Time in the cosmos

A star-spangled sky, celestial bodies tracing a path across the vast firmament, a universe that is constantly changing. This was the spectacle that Louis Moinet, the master watchmaker, could see through his telescope. And it was to measure the movement of the stars that, in 1816, he created the famous Compteur de tierces, the first chronograph in history.

Now, 210 years later, Les Ateliers Louis Moinet is presenting the STELLARIUM. This creation invites us to contemplate the cosmos from two perspectives. On the dial is a striking panorama of stars that light up at night. On the back, a planetary display whose arrangement of the stars subtly evokes a key moment in the history of watchmaking.

“STELLARIUM is defined as a space dedicated to the stars. Together with the Louis Moinet Technical Laboratory, we conceived this timepiece as a universe to be explored. Its many details reveal themselves gradually. Indeed, the STELLARIUM offers many surprises and a few secrets as well.” Nathanaël Schaller, Creative Director

THE DIAL: A STELLAR PANORAMA

The STELLARIUM dial presents the spectacle of a sky studded with stars. By day, the web of longitude and latitude lines evokes the harmonious, graphic quality of a star chart. By night, the stars take centre stage: they glow blue and seem to vanish into infinite depth.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

In the background, the Muonionalusta meteorite is bathed in a deep midnight blue. Formed nearly 4.5 billion years ago, at the dawn of the solar system, it is thought to have fallen to Earth around one million years ago in northern Sweden. Inside are the famous Widmanstätten patterns, natural geometric designs formed by extremely slow cooling. For the STELLARIUM, the meteorite was dyed a deep blue using a process that is complex and has been kept secret. This extraterrestrial mineral, which acts as a link between the cosmos and the timepiece’s mechanism, is also used as a backdrop to the tourbillon cage.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The sense of depth in the STELLARIUM dial is achieved through a particularly ingenious design. Composed of several layered elements, it notably combines meteorites with a transparent sapphire disc.

THE PLANETARIUM: A DATE IN THE HEAVENS

The movement side of the STELLARIUM shows a fascinating tableau: the solar system. The planets, some of which measure just two millimetres in diameter, have been meticulously hand-painted and are arranged on a grid that appears to float above a starry sky.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The ultimate secret can now be revealed: the planets are positioned according to their exact configuration on 21 March 2013, the day the world of watchmaking learned of a major historical milestone. On that day, at the Neuchâtel Observatory, Jean-Marie Schaller unveiled the famous Compteur de tierces, created in 1816 by the great watchmaker Louis Moinet, which turned out to be the first chronograph ever made.

Unique customisation

However, this date is merely one possibility for the planets’ positioning. On request, they can also be arranged to show a date chosen for its special significance. It is a unique way of immortalising a moment that matters to its owner in the heavens.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

“Ever since I was a child, I have watched my father persistently track and study the life and work of Louis Moinet. He was convinced of his exceptional contribution to watchmaking. So, 21 March 2013 marked a decisive milestone in the mission he had set himself: to restore Louis Moinet to his rightful place in the pantheon of great watchmakers. I love the idea that STELLARIUM reflects this story, which is both about watchmaking and deeply personal. Astronomy had led Louis Moinet to the Compteur de tierces; two centuries later, the planets mark the day on which his genius was finally recognised.” Nathanaël Schaller, Creative Director

THE CASE: A POWERFUL DESIGN

The STELLARIUM case stands out for its clean lines and highly technical construction. Its openworked sides reveal a blue, DLC-coated titanium core housing the movement. This structure is inside a red-gold frame made up of four separate elements that are ingeniously assembled. The curved sapphire crystal further accentuates the depth of the overall design.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

Aficionados will recognise the aesthetic vigour of the IMPULSION case, which has been subtly reworked here: the tops of the lugs are now solid, the downward lines have been redesigned, and the leather strap features a classic clasp.

THE HOVERING TOURBILLON

The STELLARIUM features a flying tourbillon with an off-centre cage that appears to defy gravity in a captivating manner. The hand-wound movement is powered by two serial spring barrels that are arranged head-to-tail using the «volte-face» system. It provides a generous power reserve of 96 hours.

LOUIS MOINET – Metiers d'Art Moon Meteor Titanium Edition

LOUIS MOINET – Cosmic Art Métiers d'Art MOON METEOR Lunar Meteorite Dial Titanium Edition - 2026

The Moon has always fascinated humans and inhabited their dreams of other worlds. It seems so close and is nevertheless far away. But it is our connection to the vastness of the cosmos.

With the Moon Meteor, Les Ateliers Louis Moinet has brought this vision to life in a creation that is both a work of art and a timepiece. Its dial shows a celestial landscape in vivid colours, criss-crossed by meteors. At its centre is the Moon, accompanied on its journey by an astronaut.

But the spectacle doesn’t end there. At night, Moon Meteor reveals what the day kept hidden: the sky lights up and the Moon appears in all its splendour.

The Moon Meteor comes in a limited edition of just twelve pieces, echoing the quiet, unchanging rhythm with which the Moon marks the passage of time.

“Astronomy is inextricably linked to the history of Louis Moinet. The great watchmaker created the first chronograph in history for his celestial observations. Two centuries later, it has become part of my own personal history. Among the many passions my father passed on to me is this fascination with the cosmos and the infinite, with humanity’s great adventures and, of course, with meteorites, which he collected.”

“With the Moon Meteor, I wanted to build on this legacy through my own artistic vision: to work with colour, texture and light, and to create a dialogue between the delicacy of a luminescent miniature painting and the mineral power of rare meteorites, all orchestrated by an astronomical moon mechanism. Above all, I love that part of the work remains a secret, and that you have to wait until nightfall to discover it.” Nathanaël Schaller, Creative Director.

THE DIAL: MATERIAL ARTISTRY
A radiating celestial landscape

The hand-painted Moon Meteor dial depicts a nebula of intense colours. And when night falls, this cosmic tableau reveals a stunning spectacle.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

Creating this miniature scene requires rare expertise and a very delicate touch. The artist mixes special colours to capture the nuances of the nebula and paints using a binocular microscope and a brush with just a few hairs.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The scene takes shape through successive layers of lacquer and varnish. He then applies the luminescent paint, which is viscous and contains luminous pigments. This process demands perfect technical mastery, a precise balance between fine brushwork and the amount of material used. The work is never assessed solely in daylight — each stage must also be examined in the dark, until the desired effect is achieved.

Cosmic rocks

Three of the meteors crossing the sky are represented by fragments of real meteorites, each chosen for its rarity and history. The first comes from Mars: NWA 13925 is a genuine piece of the Red Planet, priced at more per gram than gold and platinum combined. The second, the Jbilet Winselwan, contains amino acids, which are known to be molecules essential to life. Finally, the extremely rare Sahara 97093 is an EH3-type enstatite meteorite containing microdiamonds of interstellar origin.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

Framing this cosmic landscape, the flange is crafted from the Muonionalusta meteorite. It was formed nearly 4.5 billion years ago and numbers among the oldest meteorites discovered on Earth. It reveals fascinating Widmanstätten patterns. For precision and clarity, the hour markers and graduations have been laser-engraved.

AN ASTRONOMICAL MOON REINVENTED

Moon Meteor offers a unique representation of the lunar cycle. At the centre of the dial, a large, slightly domed disc recreates the surface of the Moon with engraved and hand-painted craters and reliefs that become visible at night thanks to luminescent material.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

Two rare fragments of lunar meteorites, originating from specific rocks, bring the full moon and new moon to life. The full moon is represented by a fragment of Gadamis 005, considered by specialists to be one of the most beautiful in the world due to its marbled grey-and-white texture.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

Moreover, it comes from a region explored by the crew of the Apollo 16 mission. The meteorite used for the new moon is the Dhofar 457, whose intense black colour is due to the rock being formed inside a crater.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The astronaut, a relief appliqué meticulously painted by hand, is the reference point for this display: positioned above the Moon, he indicates the lunar phase as the disc continues its cycle beneath his feet.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

To set the astronomical moon complication in motion demanded cutting-edge engineering and technology. Driven by a gear train that includes a 135-tooth wheel, this intricate mechanism delivers remarkable precision, with a deviation of just one day every 122 years. This exclusive, self-winding calibre is signed Louis Moinet, independent watchmaker, and was developed in collaboration with its longstanding partner, Concepto.

A COSMIC ARCHITECTURE

The Moon Meteor features a polished and satin-finished grade 5 titanium case with sophisticated, modern lines. It is extremely lightweight (just 18 grams) and is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal, providing the wearer with a deep view of the celestial landscape on the dial down to the smallest detail.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The openworked lugs perfectly highlight the integration of the strap and reinforce the gracefulness of this design. The crown is adorned with the fleur-de-lys, the emblem of Les Ateliers Louis Moinet, whilst the watchmaker’s signature is engraved on the side of the case.

LOUIS MOINET – 1816 Tourbillon Monopusher Chronograph Titanium Edition

LOUIS MOINET – Mechanical Wonders 1816 Tourbillon  Monopusher Chronograph 40.6 mm Titanium Edition  - 2026

CONTEMPORARY CREATION BORN IN HISTORY

Some inventions have an aesthetic appeal that transcends the centuries and becomes the hallmark of a contemporary collection. The world’s first chronograph, created by Louis Moinet in 1816, stands out as a prime example. Even 210 years later, its DNA continues to guide Les Ateliers Louis Moinet and now serves as the blueprint for a new timepiece: the 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

“The very modern look of the Compteur de Tierces naturally led us, this year, to create a monopusher chronograph with a flying tourbillon. The avant-garde spirit of the original timepiece, along with its most distinctive design elements have a leading role in this model. It is also a fine tribute to the friendship that bound Louis Moinet and Abraham-Louis Breguet, both founding fathers of modern watchmaking.” Nathanaël Schaller, Creative Product Manager

ROOTS IN HERITAGE

Louis Moinet, an artist, clockmaker, and scientist, wished to carry out astronomical observations but needed an extremely precise instrument to measure the movement of the planets and stars. Thus he designed the Compteur de Tierces, the world’s first chronograph, which he completed in 1816.

The layout of the counters and the insistence on their legibility were remarkably modern for the times. Indeed, 210 years later, these defining features continue to guide the aesthetic identity of Les Ateliers Louis Moinet. Numerous details on the case and dial of the 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph bear witness to this creation’s resolutely contemporary expression.

PORTRAIT OF AN EXCEPTIONAL TIMEKEEPER

The case of the 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph is crafted from polished and satin-finished grade 5 titanium. It measures 40.6 millimeters in diameter and is made up of 40 components.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

All the hallmarks of the compteur de tierces are visible on this elegant and refined timepiece: the Directoire-style semi-bassine profile with a smooth case middle and the double gadroon, the monopusher, and the crown adorned with the fleur-de-lys – the emblem of Bourges, Louis Moinet’s birthplace.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The rhodium-plated dial features a subtle interplay of satin-finished and beadblasted surfaces. The subdials for the small seconds and the 30-minute counter are fitted with a satin-brushed ring bearing Arabic numerals. At their centre, the ruby-set barrel, flanked by two polished screws, adds a technical accent that is both rigorous and refined.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The dial markings and the name Louis Moinet have been engraved for maximum precision and rendered in the typeface of the original. Also engraved is the inscription Tourbillon Chronograph, which is composed of straight, angular letters that clearly affirm the timepiece’s technical identity. At twelve o’clock, a fleur-de-lys applique crowns the ensemble.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The chronograph seconds hand, the subdial hands and the four screws are in traditional blued steel. The tourbillon cage has been given blue DLC coating. This touch of colour highlights the key elements against the grey of the rhodium-plated dial while creating a contrast that enhances the timepiece’s elegant character.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The bracelet was especially designed to serve as a natural extension of the case. Crafted in grade 5 titanium, it stands out through the shape of its broad links, whose lines trace an elegant, architectural curve. Each link moves in a fluid, continuous motion, embracing the wrist while preserving perfect balance. The alternating satin-brushed and polished finishes highlight its sculptural volumes, composing an ergonomic and resolutely contemporary ensemble with a distinctive character.

A UNIQUE CALIBRE

The 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph is powered by the in-house LM114 calibre, assembled by Louis Moinet watchmakers in Les Breuleux. A renowned and proven movement, it combines two major complications: a column-wheel controlled chronograph operated by a single pusher and a flying tourbillon with an off-centre cage. Its hand-wound movement with a double barrel is designed to deliver a generous power reserve of 96 hours.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph thus pays tribute to the friendship between Louis Moinet and Abraham-Louis Breguet, inventors of the chronograph and the tourbillon respectively, and both founding fathers of modern watchmaking.

A LIMITED EDITION OF TWELVE PIECES

This year marks the 210th anniversary of the world’s very first chronograph. To commemorate this milestone, the 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph is being offered in a strictly limited edition of just twelve pieces.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

Each model of the LM-170.20.60 reference will leave the Saint-Blaise workshop to join an exclusive circle of twelve collectors destined to become its privileged custodians.

“From as early as 1806, Louis Moinet created exquisite timepieces for the leading figures of his era. I like to think that the Skydance, which captures the heavenly world so dear to the great watchmaker, is now intended for the women who brighten our own world.” — Nathanaël Schaller, Creative Product Manager.

The heavenly ballet

In the infinite expanse of the sky, each has its own part to play. Moon patiently illuminates the night with its silent presence, while Sun casts its rays brightly and with ceaseless energy. Between them, an eternal choreography takes shape, a refined interplay of light, motion and time.

With Skydance, Les Ateliers Louis Moinet once again reveals its mastery of refined aesthetics that have become the hallmark of its ladies’ watches.

Elegance on the heavenly vault

The dial was conceived with great care to express this poetic cosmological encounter. On the white mother-of-pearl backdrop with its iridescent sheen, eleven scintillating diamonds mark the hours. Moon, a golden crescent open towards the sky, appears on a disc of genuine lunar meteorite, a Dhofar 457, that once landed on Earth.

Opposite Moon, Sun shines upon a sparkling aventurine background. The secret to its captivating motion lies in two superimposed sun discs, one fixed, the other rotating thanks to the automatic movement driving the watch.

A ring laid upon the mother-of-pearl like a heavenly bond connects Moon’s crescent, resting on its fragment of lunar meteorite, with the radiating Sun.

The hour and minute hands, shaped like dewdrops in black nickel and enhanced with luminescent material, hover over this circle with discreet grace.

The 36-millimeter case, crafted from grade 5 titanium with a white ceramic bezel, creates a silhouette that is light and graceful.

Click, to see the large size. ▶ BIG FOTO

The crown, also in titanium and with a ceramic circlet, bears a fleur-de-lys at its centre, the emblem of Bourges, Louis Moinet’s birthplace. The lugs are adorned with a white cabochon, a final bright touch in this radiant composition.

Two versions are available, each limited to just 28 pieces: one with a bezel set with six diamonds, the other set with sixty diamonds, one for each minute of the hour.

The automatic movement visible through the transparent case back is powered by an oscillating weight that prolongs the cosmological theme. Indeed, Moon lies in Sun’s embrace like a permanent eclipse.

Finally, a rubber strap with a satin finish elegantly complements the timepiece. It was conceived for comfort and highlights the refined character of the Skydance.

2026: two milestones in the history of Louis Moinet

The launch of Skydance comes in a year marked by two significant milestones for Les Ateliers Louis Moinet.
