Especially revealed for the occasion, this new creation brings together transparency, color and mechanical architecture in one of the Maison’s most technically expressive timepieces. At its heart remains the mesmerizing one-minute central flying tourbillon, the mechanical and visual signature of the MAXIMA GR8, surrounded by a peripheral display of the hours and minutes.

Powered by the automatic KRB-13 caliber, the movement comprises 233 components and 32 jewels, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and uses two barrels mounted in parallel to deliver approximately 65 hours of power reserve.

Ultraviolet: A New Dimension of Colour

With this latest interpretation, Kerbedanz introduces Ultraviolet into the MAXIMA GR8 universe, a color chosen for its intensity, contemporary character and ability to create a striking dialogue with the absolute transparency of sapphire.

The vivid ultraviolet dial appears almost suspended within the transparent case, allowing the architecture of the watch to remain fully visible from every angle. Light travels through the monocrystalline sapphire and interacts with the dial, movement and tourbillon, constantly transforming the perception of the watch depending on its surroundings.

The Art of Transparency

Machining a watch case from monocrystalline sapphire represents one of contemporary watchmaking’s most demanding exercises. Beyond its spectacular transparency, sapphire requires extremely precise machining, polishing and finishing in order to achieve the complex geometry of the MAXIMA GR8 while preserving the optical purity of the material.

Here, transparency is not simply decorative. It becomes an integral part of the design, removing the traditional visual boundary between case and movement and revealing the mechanical construction from virtually every perspective.

The 39 mm diameter gives this technically ambitious construction a remarkably contemporary proportion on the wrist, while the domed sapphire crystal further accentuates the depth and three-dimensional character of the composition.

A Central Tourbillon at the Heart of the Architecture

The visual center of the MAXIMA GR8 remains its one-minute central flying tourbillon with hand chamfered.  Powered by the automatic KRB-13 caliber, the movement comprises 233 components and 32 jewels, operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and features two barrels mounted in parallel to provide a power reserve of approximately 65 hours.

The peripheral indication of the hours and minutes leaves the center of the watch entirely dedicated to the tourbillon, allowing its constant rotation to become both the mechanical and emotional focal point of the composition. The open-worked dial, exclusively designed, manufactured and hand-decorated for Kerbedanz, further reinforces the architectural depth of the piece.

To celebrate the centenary of the birth of its founder, Mr Raymond Weil, and the 50th anniversary of the Maison he established in Geneva in 1976, Raymond Weil unveils the Freelancer World-Traveller. This new creation, limited to just 260 pieces, combines GMT and Worldtimer functions to offer three simultaneous time displays – local time, a second time zone and, through the 24 cities arranged around the bezel, the time zones of the world. At the heart of the dial, a relief world map brings this invitation to travel vividly to life, in a tribute to a man with a deep curiosity about people, cultures and distant horizons.

On 10 October 2026, Raymond Weil would have celebrated his 100th birthday

Some anniversaries are a celebration of a Maison; others bring us back to the man with whom it all began. In 2026, Raymond Weil will celebrate fifty years of independent watchmaking. Fifty years of a family tradition that began in Geneva in 1976, when, at a particularly challenging time for Swiss watchmaking, one man set out to establish an independent watchmaking Maison bearing his own name. This decision — a bold and visionary one for its time — would lay the foundations for a family story now carried forward by the third generation.

The 10 October 2026 marks another, even more personal anniversary — the birth of Mr Raymond Weil himself, who would have been 100 this year. An entrepreneur, pioneer and passionate traveller, Raymond Weil also harboured a genuine passion for flying. He spent much of his life travelling the world to promote his Geneva-based watchmaking Maison, meet with partners and build relationships that often went above and beyond the professional realm. For him, travel was not simply a matter of getting from one place to another. It was about connecting with people, discovering a culture, understanding a market, sharing a moment, building a relationship and, often, making it last. Some of the partners he met on these journeys are still working with the Maison today, in some cases through a second or even third generation. The Freelancer World-Traveller was born out of this legacy.

Freelancer, a collection born in the spirit of Mr. Raymond Weil

When Elie Bernheim first conceived the Freelancer collection in 2007, he chose a name that expressed a particular vision of independence — the freedom to make decisions, to forge one’s own path and to follow one’s intuition. 

 

This was a philosophy that closely echoed that of his grandfather. Almost twenty years later, as the Maison celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, the Freelancer collection was the natural choice to embody this tribute.

At Raymond Weil, however, independence was not just about the company’s family structure; it was a way of life. It was the way of an entrepreneur who, in 1976, at a time of major upheaval in Swiss watchmaking, chose to establish his own Maison rather than follow a pre-determined path. This is precisely the spirit that the name Freelancer has embodied since its inception.

Freelancer World-Traveller: the world in relief, time without borders

Conceived as a true traveller’s watch, the 40 mm Freelancer World-Traveller presents its information across three distinct levels. At the centre, the dial features a world map in relief, around which the traditional hour, minute and second displays are arranged, as well as the GMT hand, highlighted with a red outline and fitted with a white Super-LumiNova® insert for optimal readability of the second time zone. Surrounding this, a 24-hour graduated flange provides an immediate indication of day and night: from 6 am to 6 pm, it takes on a champagne hue, while the period between 6 pm and 6 am is rendered in midnight blue. Finally, a third ring, uniformly finished in midnight blue, features the names of 24 cities corresponding to 24 time zones.

The world map is one of the most intricately crafted elements of the dial. It is inspired by the Mercator projection, and created through a series of stamping processes that bring the continents into relief while precisely preserving the positions required for the hour markers. Laser texturing is then used to accentuate the contours and give the world map its topographical appearance. Colouring is subsequently applied in several stages. The continents are first treated and protected before the midnight-blue colour of the oceans is applied. No gradients are used — instead, contrasts in colour, texture and relief create the depth of the dial. Raymond Weil’s hand-written signature, on the dial and the minute track, is then applied using a decal, and then the hour markers, enhanced with Super-LumiNova®, are fitted.

The outer ring featuring the 24 cities is directly connected to the watch’s rotating bezel. Its indexed, notched mechanism allows the selected city to be positioned precisely against the 24-hour scale, making it easier to read the different time zones. The bezel’s new fluted design also improves grip and reinforces the functional character of the timepiece.

The navy-blue strap, accented with tone-on-tone topstitching, complements the timepiece’s overall colour scheme. On the caseback, ‘World-Traveller’ is engraved as a reminder of the commemorative significance of this creation, produced in a limited edition of just 260 pieces to mark the centenary of the founder’s birth.

THE INSIDE OUT

The caliber 1290P is entirely conceived, developed, finished, and assembled at Piaget's Manufacture in La Côte-aux-Fées, where Georges-Édouard Piaget founded the Maison in 1874. Its 430 components require many weeks of hand finishing and assembly work.

The bridges are hand-beveled, the mainplate features a subtle guilloché, and the minute-repeater hammers are hand-polished to a mirror finish. The heartbeat of the watch relies on a platinum micro-rotor, a choice dictated by both the laws of physics and haute horology for its superior winding efficiency, dressed in a rich blue PVD coating to match the vibrant dial.

The dial itself is a study in Piaget's dual mastery of High Watchmaking and High Jewellery. It is executed in gold, its surface in hand guilloché—a technique as demanding as any in the Manufacture. The result is a soleillé (sunray) finish that radiates across its surface, while a delicate opaline outer track offers contrast and depth.

A meticulously crafted gold fillet winds across the dial, its profile transitioning from straight to domed, revealing portions of the repeater mechanism beneath.

At four o'clock, a smoked blue sapphire ring — bearing the "La Côte-aux-Fées" inscription—sits atop the inertia wheel, the dedicated regulator of the minute repeater fully visible. Over 150 hours went into the dial's development alone, with 50 additional hours dedicated to the hand finishing of each individual piece.

THE SOUND OF PIAGET

While the dial and movement exist in perfect visual harmony, a minute repeater is ultimately defined by one thing: its voice. The caliber 1290P delivers 64 decibels of intensity, three harmonic partials, and a damping factor of 2,600—the result of extensive parallel research into both movement mechanics and case resonance.

Hours are struck at G sharp; minutes at A sharp, both in the fifth octave. The chiming slide sits at nine o'clock and activates downward, a deliberate engineering solution born from the complete reimagining of the movement architecture.

All of this is housed in an 18-karat white gold case measuring 48mm with a case thickness of just 9.30mm, maintaining the fluid shape-in-shape design of the Piaget Polo. The Piaget Polo Minute Repeater is water resistant to 3 ATM, unusually resilient for a chiming watch that wears with the ease and confidence demanded of a sport-chic watch. It is delivered on a blue textured embossed calfskin strap with a folding clasp and an additional leather bracelet.

Only five numbered pieces of the Piaget Polo Minute Repeater will be crafted this year. Not a limited edition by design, but as a consequence of the work required for each piece. Following the perpetual calendar and flying tourbillon, it is the latest in a series of grand complications Piaget has brought to the Piaget Polo, each making its own statement about what the Maison can achieve when technical ambition meets artisanal excellence, and proof that in the hands of Piaget, a sports watch can also be a work of art.

Alongside the Piaget Polo Minute Repeater, Piaget is also introducing another High Jewellery version which puts on full display the Maison's dual expertise in watchmaking and jewellery.
