CASIO G-SHOCK UNVEILS NEW AKAZONAE-INSPIRED MR-G New Luxury Timepiece Features Coloring Found In Traditional Samurai Armor

DOVER, NJ, 2017 - Casio G-SHOCK unveils a new color addition for the men’s luxury MRGG1000B timepiece inspired by the red Akazonae coloring that once symbolized rank and valor amongst traditional Japanese military commanders. Nodding to G-SHOCK’s Japanese heritage and strength, the new MRGG1000B-1A4 is designed to represent the colors found in elite samurai armor. A black titanium bezel and band, with red lettering and gold IP accents give this MR-G an ultra-refined look with the toughness for which G-SHOCK is known.

Premium features of this MR-G carry the theme of craft and strength throughout. The titanium case and band undergo a special deep hardening treatment that renders the metal five times harder than regular titanium, while a diamond-like carbon coating and sapphire glass crystal provide outstanding scratch resistance and durability. The model features GPS capabilities as well as G-SHOCK’s Multi-Band 6, which together form GPS Hybrid Atomic Timekeeping technology – providing accurate timekeeping virtually anywhere, ensured by receiving GPS satellite signals or terrestrial radio signals from up to six transmitters worldwide, depending on location and environment. Tough Solar technology ensures stable operation even when using power-hungry functions.

Each model also comes equipped with standard G-SHOCK technology including shock resistance and 200M water resistance, in addition to a latitude indicator, airplane mode, dual dial world time (40 time zones, 27 cities + UTC), an LED super illuminator light, neo-brite luminous hands, daily alarm, day/date display, 1/20th second stopwatch and a countdown timer – all in a 49.8mm case.

The MRGG1000B-1A4 will retail for $3,000 beginning in April 2017, and can be purchased at key jewelers, and the G-SHOCK Soho Store.

About G-SHOCK
CASIO’s shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch is synonymous with toughness, born from the developer Mr. Ibe’s dream of ‘creating a watch that never breaks’. Over 200 handmade samples were created and tested to destruction until finally in 1983 the first, now iconic G-SHOCK hit the streets of Japan and began to establish itself as ‘the toughest watch of all time’. Each watch encompasses the 7 elements; electric shock resistance, gravity resistance, low temperature resistance, vibration resistance, water resistance, shock resistance and toughness. The watch is packed with Casio innovations and technologies to prevent it from suffering direct shock; this includes internal components protected with urethane and suspended timekeeping modules inside the watch structure. Since its launch, G-SHOCK has continued to evolve, continuing to support on Mr. Ibe’s mantra “never, never give up”.

BOVET – OttantaSei Flying Tourbillon – Pininfarina Blue & Bronze Edition

BOVET  – Pininfarina OttantaSei Flying Tourbillon Titanium Blue & Bronze Limited Edition

OTTANTASEI
OttantaSei Flying Tourbillon – blue and bronze edition DESIGNED BY Pininfarina

Presented in 2016, the Ottantasei tourbillon from the Pininfarina collection instantly drew admiration from even the most demanding collectors. When Pascal Raffy issued the specifications for this timepiece, his desire was to create a tourbillon that bore all the visual hallmarks of the now legendary Ottanta tourbillon, with practically perfect dimensions and proportions.

Transparency and lightness were the watchwords for every stage in the development of the collection’s latest flagship creation. Although the light and airy movement imagined by the Italian designers suggests a tubular structure, this latest Ottantasei takes reliability and chronometry to new heights.

The BOVET craftsmen joined forces with the designers in Turin to produce this genuine tour de force, which combines stunning ergonomics with a patented flying tourbillon that offers a ten-day power reserve driven by a single barrel.

The unusual three-dimensional openwork adorning the movement is a glory to behold from every angle. In addition to sapphire crystals revealing both sides of the movement, broad apertures have been added laterally along the entire edge of the case middle.

This year, collectors have been treated to a choice of two new cases. Each of them is machined in grade 5 titanium for ever-greater lightness. And for a touch of sublime elegance, their surfaces have been embellished with either bronze or blue PVD treatments.

While these two new cases complement the various versions of this emblematic model available to collectors, only 86 movements will be produced in total (all models combined). The widespread popularity of the Pininfarina collection — and of the Ottantasei Tourbillon in particular — suggest that these newest additions to this exclusive series will barely suffice to meet the exceptionally high demand for this truly extraordinary timepiece.
